Has anyone been left with scarring after plasma pen/fibroblast?

beaut23 · 16/04/2019 11:22

I had this done last week and some of the scabs have fallen off, only to my horror that instead of smooth fresh skin, there are indentations where the plasma pen were placed!! I'm so worried as I feel like I can't go back to work any time soon looking like this. Has this happened to anyone else and if so, did you manage to reduce the scarring? Makeup makes it even more obvious so I'm at a loss, feeling distressed, help! I'm regretting this so much.

I wish I had read this thread before I had this treatment done last week.
Day six and I have crunchy nut cornflakes embedded to my eyelids. It's gross. The hype about the dots coming off around now, and it being painless is utter BS. I can't open my eyes properly.
Bricking it now when the scabs come off that - I am told - are completely normal - !

Kenzie00 · 10/01/2023 01:48

I stil have tiny holes all over my face 4 years on they won't ever go away it should be banned

glloydsandiego · 10/01/2023 05:30

Wow, that looks like a pretty aggressive treatment. I was left with indentations as well. I just had CO2 laser which had quite a lengthy downtime, but I think I finally am rid of most of the indents.

Scarred2022 · 10/01/2023 07:57

It’s been well over a year now and I’m still scarred.

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/01/2023 08:10

This is why I’d never have anything done to my face & the salons just walk away Scot free after they’ve scarred you.

Would a phenol peel work? It’s a very, very strong peel under anaesthetic but it goes much deeper than other peels. It’s a big commitment though.

Oh no, I'm from Kent too I hope your therapist wasn't one beginning with Ri. Mind you, it means there's more than one still carrying out this awfull "treatment" if it's a different beautician.
I wish you luck with the healing.

I got scarrs and indents after plasmapen. And also hyperpigmentation. But I managed to resolve it with regular salicylic acid peelings (10 - 20 %) and microneedling every 4 weeks. It lasted more than year to get rid of it. Also I am using 50 SPF everyday and some other stuff agains pigmentation. Pigmentation faded also in one year time. Good luck!

A333 · 10/01/2023 13:39

@sumzpien did you go to specialist for peels and microneeding..I am 6 months on and have indentations all around eyes and forehead

sumzpien · 10/01/2023 16:13

I had indents under my eyes. I did this peels at home, becuse it is quite pricy to go to the specialist. So I started with small steps, not to cause more harm than good:) I tried also TCA, it is quite strong acid, but actualy this peel was worse that salicylic acid and it provoked hypepigmentation again. So I sticked to salicylic. It was fine to do it myself, it is not a rocket science, but it took many weeks to diminish that indents. I did these peels on regular basis, every 14 days. And as far the micronnedling is concerned I visited specialist, and somethimes I did it also at home. At home only to depth 0,5mm and at specialist office maximum 0,7mm on the cheeks. You have to be patient and not loose your faith:) It will get better:)

A333 · 10/01/2023 18:27

@sumzpien thank you so much. Money is an issue for me so I happy to hear these worked for you. I will definitely give these a try

sumzpien · 10/01/2023 19:08

Don't forget to wear 50 spf:) everyday!

MarmiteloverfromKent · 13/01/2023 09:45

Thanks for your replies ladies 😊
There seems to be a few treatments to give some hope to those affected badly by this procedure.
I've bought a scar cream for pitted skin, just in case.
The scabs are now finally coming off and I'm crossing everything.

Hello did it go after 12 weeks?? Sorry to revive an old thread but I’ve been giving it serious consideration with a good machine and therapist

MarmiteloverfromKent · 07/03/2023 08:40

Hi there, I'm currently still pink, sore and a little swollen. I am now eight weeks on. The therapist has said it will be another four weeks despite me being told and sold that this would all be amazing six to eight weeks afterwards.
I would never, ever suggest to anyone that they have this done. I've not had no cosmetic results, and each morning I shower I look like I'm wearing bright pink eyeshadow.

If you are going to do it, please ensure the salon is using the best, finest-tip pen and they don't put the dots too close together. Because my treatment was aggressive and the dots went too close together, I am now left with these red bits where my scabs were and I am worried it won't heal at all without hyperpigmentation.

Hope this helps.

Don't do it.

Schanna · 11/03/2023 07:24

Have you, guys, who left with scaring, were told about the aftercare? That u need to moisturise and apply 50+ spf at least 3 times per day to the area at least 2 weeks? 🤔 did you do all that and still left with indent? My doctor told me it's a must to do this otherwise scaring is most likely occur.

MarmiteloverfromKent · 11/03/2023 10:49

I don't have the pitted skin but I have pinkness over the entire area that was treated (that being a kind word for 'burnt'). Ergo, you could say that's scarring in a way, though of course they don't say that. I've been using spf50 each day as hyperpigmentation gets worse if the sun gets to it. Also the pinkness gets worse if you're dehydrated or have had a few vinos.
Even cloudy days need coverage. My therapist said I didn't need it because 'you don't walk around with your eyes closed so the sun can't get to your lids'. Fortunately I have a brain in my head and ignored this completely.
For pitted skin I think some of the ladies here talked about microneedling.
Also, Murad do a special scar cream for pitted skin. Have a look online.
I hope this helps.

KatharinaRosalie · 11/03/2023 13:51

Honestly save up and go for blepharopasty instead. I had no pain, just a few days off until stitches came out and no scars. And of course you get much better results as well.

sumzpien · 11/03/2023 15:40

Of course I used sun blocker and other stuff for healing:)

My friend did all this. Her skin is like a golf ball. No one should go for this treatment. It doesn't work and it's dangerous for the skin.

alie33 · 13/03/2023 13:27

I'm a bit annoyed reading that it was somehow my fault that I have been left like this! I did everything I was asked to do and 3 years later its still a mess!
I have been told that the 'treatment' has destroyed the melanin in my skin and so I've been left with hypopigmentation, basically my skin was so badly burnt that I've been left with scars! No amount of sun cream was ever going to fit that.

Has anyone been left with scarring after plasma pen/fibroblast?
MarmiteloverfromKent · 13/03/2023 21:53

I'm so sorry to see what you've had to deal with. Did you ever seek recompense from the person who gave you this treatment? You, I and many others here were hugely misled by the hype and the glossy pages on salons' websites. They don't tell you any of the possible complications. I'm so angry about mine. 10 weeks on now I'm a pink eyed lady. Every morning I have to treat this before I can leave the house and it hasn't worked.😠

So I'm currently undergoing this treatment, we are trying to fix not very standard issues (first one is a smile wrinkle on my left side which I had since about i was 12 years old, bcs originally it was a scratch scar which later formed into wrinkle), and the other one is lower eye lid area and below it + crow feet zone, the skin here was damaged by me around 5 yrs ago with application of corticosteroid cream (I was trying to treat dermatitis in a stupid way) which made skin get thinner, micro-wrinkled and crumpled, as if it aged prematurely. We are going slowly, first my doctor applied pen in small areas to see the reaction bcs my skin is not aged naturally, its damaged so we are looking how it will react, and can we go through entire zone. I did microneedling 2 times in the past for these areas, it didn't work, but at least I didn't have anything worse afterwards. I can see that for the smile wrinkle she applied larger dotting than for the eye area, it is more subtle, especially in the inner corner zone, where skin is thinnest. Will visit her in less than 2 weeks for evaluation. So far applying moisturising cream and 50+ spf on these areas few times per day

Honestly I would stop. Haven't you seen all the stuff about this?

Yes however I'm familiar with good outcomes as well, and I myself see positive dynamics - my wrinkle near lips was processed 3 weeks earlier than the under eye zone and it almost healed already, that's why I dared to try the undereyes
