Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Excited about the weekend weather forecast so tonight I'm getting melon-tastic (Missoni Acqua and Shay & Blue Suffolk Lavender).

Iambuffy · 18/04/2019 08:20

I had an odd evening.
I decided to use some f my samples and decided on Tom Damon riven oak (oak? Cedar maybe!)
I was immediately transported back to the 1980s and my late aunt Audrey’s old house.
It was imcredible
I felt quite tearful all evening...
Ive decided it must smell a bit like Estée by Estée Lauder as she wore that in the 80s.
I’m people facing all day today so something comforting and calming I think...
I know what you mean calm I won’t be buying anything from 4160 Tuesdays for a while. I think Sarah’s stuff can be quite samey? She also needs to stop realising everything she makes!

Iambuffy · 18/04/2019 08:24

Tom daxon

Bloody autocorrect

XingMing · 18/04/2019 12:30

Popping in to say hello, and that I do read along every few days to see what's perfumes are being discovered and rediscovered.

I only really like the Rhubarb & Citrus from 4160 Tuesdays, but the 9ml size is inspired.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 18/04/2019 12:34

SOTD is Ealing Green, funnily enough Grin. It's really warm today and I like the sweet green sherbetty fizziness of this.

I totally agree about 4160s releasing too much too often though; have said this for ages.

MrsMoggs · 18/04/2019 17:15

Just to flag TK Maxx has Weil's Suki Essence online today. Good option for labdanum fans.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 18/04/2019 18:50

SOTD is Liz Earle No100. I adore this! It makes me feel like I've trampolined into a huge vat of flowers & bounced into a glorious blue sky onto a soft fluffy white cloud.
Isn't it amazing the feelings & memories scent evokes Iambuffy
Fijdi by Guy Laroche (gorgeous) reminds me of my Mum when I was small.
DD has now taken now ownership of my Wild Vanilla Orchid, it smells nicer on her. She likes vanilla/gourmandy fragrances like most teenagers seem to these days.
I'm sure when I was teenager in the late 80s we were more into fruity then sea/ozone type perfumes.

teta · 18/04/2019 21:07

Houbigant orangeurs en Fleurs is my Sotd. I’d forgotten how beautiful this one is. I’ve been floating around in a flower haze all day. It’s very long lasting. I always forget to wear this perfume for some reason and it’s barely used after two years.
The only 4160 perfume I like is Ealing Green Maud.
I used to love Fijdi too and wear it many years ago. I swopped for a bottle of the perfume a while ago and it smells horrible on me now.
I do enjoy reading about perfumistas scent memories.

Iambuffy · 18/04/2019 22:08

I loved fidji :) and kiku :)

I'm in Avon timeless this evening. It's been a loooong day!

KaliforniaDreamz · 18/04/2019 22:11

i liked Poison when i was a teen. it gives me a migraine now

Iambuffy · 18/04/2019 22:41

I liked Lou Lou
I smelt it a while ago and nearly gagged!
Wtf have they done to it???

CountFosco · 19/04/2019 06:38

SotD Herba Fresca

OneNight I've got some Wild Green, it's very wearable.

Most annoyed at Rook closing down, been meaning to try the sample set for ages and now it has sold out.

We were in Paris last year so watching Notre Dame burn with the kids felt awful. We live near York so they know all about the fire there so we talked about how that was rebuilt while I was thinking 'it looks so much worse than York'. So glad the stained glass seems to have mainly survived. Guess they'll replace the wood with steel? Will make the structure lighter so they could do something incredible with it.

SpeckledyHen · 19/04/2019 07:21

Good morning Friendly Perfumistas :)

If I like Tom Ford Oud Wood what else might I like please ?

MotherOfDragonite · 19/04/2019 09:18

What a lovely sunny morning! (Here in London, anyway). We are all going to the Maritime Museum.

SOTD yesterday was a combination of two wonderful perfume oils, Onyx and Pearl, by Sage Machado. Gorgeous, gently tobacco-y, oakmoss, vanilla, musk. But mostly just gentle and alluring in a sort of hard to place way. Great lasting power but little projection. I bought them ages ago and had them shipped to a friend in the US who has just sent them to me. Plus my final tiny bottles of Monyette Paris -- I've decided to wean myself off it from now, as I have lots of other options now!

1frenchfoodie · 19/04/2019 10:13

Hi speckeldyHen I dont know TF Oud Wood but Thameen Carved Oud gets mentioned as similar but spicier and more polished.

I read that at Marmite museum Mother and it didnt entirely put me off it as an outing...

SOTD Penhaligon’s Much ado about the Duke, intense rose turkish delight, a bit heavy for the lovely warm weather but still fun.

cantbelievemyeyes · 19/04/2019 10:44

SOTD is Coromandel. Only because I went to pack my decant for a trip to Northumberland and it leaked, so more an accidental wearing.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 19/04/2019 13:36

SOTD Diptyque Philosykos. We are working as normal today and Monday and I am FED UP.

cantbelievemyeyes · 19/04/2019 14:14

Oh how rubbish Judy, hope the day is over for you soon. Have brought Philosykos away with me, nothing better for the nice weather!

MrsMoggs · 19/04/2019 14:43

Started the day in Diorella and Diorling. Have gone back to Mother Nature's Naughty Daughters as a final check before I order my 9mls...

teta · 19/04/2019 15:34

Calyx is my Sotd.
It was the scent of my 30’s and my first child.
I’m covered in grass clippings and have hidden the X box cable.
Why are teenagers so bloody annoying....

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 19/04/2019 16:07

........because they're overgrown toddlers teta Smile
SOTD still LE No100 but mixed with eau de Domestos as cleaning the house (with the odd tea MN break Grin

MrsMoggs · 19/04/2019 16:59

Can't face cleaning on a beautiful day, Teta and god knows it needs doing . That's bad luck Judy.

Have been out for a walk in the sunshine. I'm now contemplating perfume swaps (time to adopt a 1 in 1 out policy). Much as I hate parting with anything by 4160 Tuesdays, I think the following 9mls, all deserve a more appreciative home. I'm up for swapping or selling if anyone is interested (all have been sprayed only a handful of times).

Outdoors
Indoors
The Fruits of the Tree of Knowledge
The Buddhawood Box
Truth, Beauty, Freedom, Love.
Freeway
Raw Silk & Red Roses

Now it get's a bit random, but I also have:

80% of 100ml bottle of JC Dirty English. (Good for oud fans).
40%of O Oui (Lancome limited edition, 1999, featuring water hyacinth and vodka Smile)
30mls (minus a few squirts) L'Artisan Parfumeur Mon Numero 10 (a Bertrand Duchaufour oriental).

Open to all sorts of swaps and exchanges, including decants. Interested in vintage as well as contemporary. PM me if interested in anything Smile.

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 19/04/2019 17:47
