Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Cloon keen sybarite is lovely maud

Not sure AT ACDD was right for today either!

teta · 01/06/2019 19:52

Miller Harris Fleur Du Matin is Sotd. Why did I sell my spare bottle last year? It's been discontinued and seems to be only available on ebay. I really miss the old herbal signature of the original Miller Harris's. It's so beautiful. I should be wearing Wisteria but I can't find it . Here's ours at the front of our house. I've spent most of the afternoon sitting in the sun admiring it. Its absolutely intoxicating but very fleeting.

Beautiful teta

MrsMoggs · 01/06/2019 22:26

Looks idyllic Teta.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/06/2019 08:50

Teta that is gorgeous. Ours has all dropped now sadly but it smells wonderful for about 48 hours! Here's a photo from last year. If there was a good wisteria perfume I'd definitely buy it...

How beautiful Maud and Teta - very envious.

MrsMoggs · 02/06/2019 10:05

Doing a sniffathon with DD and her friends (older teens) next week. With a fragrance wheel, lots of test strips, notebooks and pencils. What should I get them to smell? (WIdomH is one of them!).

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/06/2019 11:36

Oh that sounds fab MrsM! WIDOMH is a great choice. How about some of the ubers that we named upthread? Perhaps something that you wore or that was ubiquitous at their age (for me that would have been Poison!)

SOTD is Premier Figuier. It's not quite as gloriously sunny today but still lovely and warm so it's working well.

Maud your picture is stunning. I want to climb into it !
Sunlight makes all the difference. I love the contrast between the sunlight. blue sky and the dappled shade .
We're lucky to live in a beautiful area but our teens would disagree! They think it's frightfully boring.
I have the very heady Crabtree & Evelyn Wisteria which has sadly been discontinued. I think the Acca Kappa Wisteria is also very pretty but difficult to test . I have to spend at least one day sitting in the sun ( although it wasn't exactly blaring down here yesterday) enjoying the magnificent scent.
How about the classics MrsM. For me that would include Cristalle, no 19, Silences, Private Collection, Poison yes, Laddm, any original Dior, Wrappings, Chanel no 5. Or yes maybe a scent trawl through your past.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 02/06/2019 13:01

It is a lovely spot, especially to sit and have a coffee first thing; we are very very lucky.

Sotd pp by the fireplace

Calmasasleepycat · 02/06/2019 17:15

Beautiful wisteria photos (and gardens) 💕. So envious!

MrsMoggs, what an interesting evening for your teen and friends! Obviously a lot depends on the perfumes you have to hand, but it would be good for them to try different styles, eg from citrus, herby, fruity, aquatic, skanky, tea, floral, green, smokey, gourmand, incense, amber, woods, spicy. It would be interesting to talk about Pharrell Williams’ Girl (expert perfumer, great smell, great bottle, reasonable price) and the complete marketing failure (confused message about whether aimed at men, women or both, dreadful outside packaging). I think you could add in another 4160 perfume as Sarah McCartney is so good with her word pictures. Perhaps a Zoologist as well?

MotherOfDragonite · 02/06/2019 19:06

Oh teta and Maud, your wisteria is MAGNIFICENT! It's one of my favourite things (I live in a flat in London, which I wouldn't trade for the world, but you can't really have wisteria).

SOTD was Sideris today, which was less intensely incense-y in the slightly cooler weather.

Loads of helicopters buzzing noisily around the skies here at precisely the children's bedtime presumably in preparation for the Trump visit.

I have a yen for a pineapple fragrance. Any suggestions for things I could sniff? I am going to try to go to Les Senteurs and Liberty to sniff things after my essay deadline next week!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 02/06/2019 22:17

SOTD Chanel 19. Beautiful garden photos. No wisteria here but we have a lovely lilac tree.

I've just ordered the new Kyse marshmallow Grin

MotherOfDragonite · 03/06/2019 07:28

Ooh, those look like joyful foodie scents! How do you manage the import/customs charges? (My bugbear with ordering from the US...)

YesQueen · 03/06/2019 07:35

@MotherOfDragonite I've never had any customs charges!

Iambuffy · 03/06/2019 09:34

Sotd Avon little black dress weekend

Calmasasleepycat · 03/06/2019 09:38

YesQueen, I’ve spent a happy hour exploring the Kyse perfumes (I love gourmands!). Which are your favourites? From the notes I think I might like Fichi e Panna, Frollino Lavanda, Gardenia Sucre, Sucre et Fleurs, Mandorlo e Cioccolato, but actually they all sound amazing.

YesQueen · 03/06/2019 09:49

I own (apologies for any dodgy spelling!)
Also their foaming soaps are AMAZING
Doucer brulee - literally creme brulee and a tiny bit of lemon
Vanille bonbon - pure vanilla bean with a touch of skin scent, v inoffensive and easy to wear
Confit rose - jammy rose, I hated it at first and it grew on me
Coconut vanille - fresh coconut, vanilla beach, very summery
Vanilla cedar - as it says!

Iambuffy · 03/06/2019 11:58

mrsm your parcel has arrived. I shall sniff and report back!

MotherOfDragonite · 03/06/2019 12:02

That sounds lush! I want to try so many of those. It's weird as I thought I hated gourmands but I think I do like vanilla-type ones...

YesQueen · 03/06/2019 12:06

She does samples Smile enables Grin

Iambuffy · 03/06/2019 16:28

Right!
Have sniffed...
4160 creamy vanilla crumble is not what I expected! Not sure if it's the tobacco or hay?
I like the dry down, but it's quite sharp on 1st spray? One I'll wear at bedtime I think.
Thank you very much for the "extras" 😁
Hyperbole - lovely!
Indian nights - like this!
Vol de nuit - what is it with me and guerlains?? Its ok. But still like every other guerlain I've ever smelt...sharp iris and odd drydown.
Just me??

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 03/06/2019 17:06

CVC is a perfect bedtime scent, buffy.

SOTD has been a messy mixture. I felt the need for something fresh and green first thing, so layered two scents from the Bloom Green Theme - Sea Foam and Aube Pashmina. It was semi-successful... ended up being too heavy on vetiver and a bit harsh.

So in mild desperation I spritzed on Bella Freud's Close to my Heart, a tuberose bomb. Sigh. Not a great day, 'fume wise...
