Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Migraine subsiding but still there...
funny i wanted to smell reall clean and reached for my son's Ted Baker body spray (ccol classic, purple one) lol

i really am a cheap date.

sunny here!

Lotsofpots · 23/05/2019 09:57

maud both of those sound delicious. Have been added to my "perfumes to try" list.

Also a bit lipstick fiend here. Stoned Rose is a great CT colour. And red fans need to check out the Lisa Eldridge reds - they are stunning.

SOTD is zoologist elephant. Sample is nearly up and I need more!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/05/2019 09:58

lots I was desperate for that orange-y Lisa Eldridge lipstick but it was sold out so quickly.

SOTD Rive Gauche, accompanied by my Tatty Devine "European" necklace for voting after work.

teta · 23/05/2019 10:00

Nice day here. But it’s been a really difficult week.
Cristalle for ds’s hospital appointment.
Wrappings yesterday. This is different in warmer weather. A bit of sweetness comes out.

teta · 23/05/2019 10:06

Ooh thanks for all the lipstick recommendations!
Because I live in the back of beyond I was completely ignorant of the CT lipsticks and most make up trends to be honest. However my 14 year old Dd ( who’s very obviously not) has just asked me to buy her a Suqqu eyebrow pencil as she’s run out. It’s £22! We’re going to Korea in the summer. So what can I buy her to tide her over?

Lotsofpots · 23/05/2019 11:14

teta the suqqu brow pencil is amazing, but yes - pricey! A cheaper, good option is the L'Oréal paradise brow pomade. It comes in good, murky colours and can be very fine or much bolder.

Iambuffy · 23/05/2019 13:02

Sotd next eau nude

Glad you're feeling better kali

MotherOfDragonite · 23/05/2019 13:38

Hope you are getting time to relax a bit in between the difficult bits of your week, teta.

And glad you're feeling better, kali. Although I feel a smell like that would actually give me a migraine...

SOTD is various Godet samples. Not showstoppers but really extremely competent and high quality. Fleurs de Reine is lovely. I am tempted by Folie Bleue, which I hated at first -- it is quite "grown up" and "timeless" if you see what I mean Grin ... but gosh, it wears veeeery nicely.

Bodyonme · 23/05/2019 19:33

He's working on it Judy! It's most likely a rat [shudder] but hopefully it shouldn't be too difficult to sort.

Sotd was MMM Mutiny which is my shit-I-forgot-perfume-whats-in-my-handbag perfume. It's fine but has no longevity.

Sote is another HdeP sample, Outrecuidant this time which is too masculine for me but DH might wear it.

MrsMoggs · 23/05/2019 20:15

Hi All, best wishes to Kali and Teta.

SotD is Suffolk Lavender (a discontinued S&B). I failed to purchase this when it was in every M&S with a Beauty Hall, and it then took a bit of work to get hold of. (Key learning point - don't assumed anything will be around for ever!).

Anyway, really glad to have made the effort as it is as good as I remembered; unusual lavender/incense/melon combo that's richly aromatic, fresh, cool and long lasting (which is quite an unusual combination).

I'm not sure whether I would've know it contained any of those three things just from sniffing - they combine to suggest something familiar but not readily nameable...

Iambuffy · 24/05/2019 08:18

Sotd next eau nude

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/05/2019 09:47

SOTD Miss Dior Originale. (Do I really need to spell out the Originale bit?)

body oh my gosh, I hope you can get it sorted quickly, and get that hole blocked right up!

teta · 24/05/2019 14:33

Thank you Lots that's really helpful.I think we will go to Boots for a try on.
Thank you for the good wishes. Hopefully next week will be better.
SOTD is The Perfume Garden by MB.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 24/05/2019 17:46

SOTD Gucci Envy.

I don't think I like it 😬

Do I need to hand my Perfumista badge in on the way out?

OP posts:
Iambuffy · 24/05/2019 18:07

Send it to missb! :)

Sote Avon imari. It's ok. I have a feeling I'd like the flanker better.

MotherOfDragonite · 24/05/2019 19:14

I haven't tried it, Maud -- I don't even qualify for the badge yet! Still so much to sniff...

Mrs Moggs, what a crazy sounding combination! But also, it sounds wonderful. And unexpected. And like everybody would recognise some of the notes but not be able to place it at all...

SOTD is Fleurs de Reine, but over the faint scent of Monyette Paris from last night (I shower in the evening but then sometimes put perfume on after if a friend is coming round or I just feel like smelling nice). The combination is super lovely. I wish I'd ordered more Maison Godet samples as they are so nice.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 24/05/2019 20:16

4160 Tuesdays' half price SOTW is the rather lovely but deeply unseasonal Captured by Candlelight. I do like this but I don't want to spend on another bottle of it in late May! I want Ealing Green, Dirty Honey, Freeway or WIDOMH to come up...

OP posts:
MrsMoggs · 24/05/2019 22:09

'Fraid you've just missed WIDOMH Maud Sad.

Yes, sounds mad Mother, but it's serious and quite elegant. Almost as much gravitas as Grey Vetiver. Smile

Captured by Candlelight is sweet and outrageously boozy.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 24/05/2019 23:37

Excuse my late reply but thank you @Iambuffy, @MrsMoggs & @MotherOfDragonite for your suggestions. I now have a list of 27 scents (sounds like a film) to work my way through!
SOTD has been Chanel Bel Respiro on one side & Chanel No 5 L'Eau on the other.
Both have a fizzy champagne start. Bel Respiro very green & Hyacinth reminds me of Fidji, so love it!
L'Eau smells so different & very nice on me compared to the original No5. L'Eau is green, lightly flowerful, slightly lemon with a hint of old book.

Iambuffy · 25/05/2019 07:38

I'm waiting for Paris 1948 to pop up on sotw...

Unplanned trip out today - I hate it when that happens!

teta · 25/05/2019 14:56

La Chasse aux Papillon is my Sotd.
I'm sitting in Costa with a really bad hangover. I've had Ibuprofen and a Costa breakfast pot but still feel awfull. I had a really bad IBS attack yesterday when out so took some Buscopan for the first time. It made me feel really weird and faint. So perhaps it wasn't the right thing to have some wine last night. However I promised dd2 I would take her and her school friends shopping so here I am!
Charlotte Tilbury's Pillow Talk is fab. What other colours are good naturals in her range o make up experts?

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 25/05/2019 15:35

Oh dear teta, my usual remedy for too much wine the night before is a glass of full fat coke plus a Vit C tablet if handy. Mind you with the coffee & coke you might be bouncing off the walls.
Now CT Lipsticks I like 'The Duchess' more pink than nude in a bitten lip kind of way.
Anyway hope you feel better soon!

Iambuffy sounds mysterious.....

Iambuffy · 25/05/2019 16:31

Nah....just a voluntary thing but I hadn't planned on going today.

Iambuffy · 25/05/2019 19:07

Sote Tom daxon Riven Oak.

This is such a lovely perfume but Oak? I don't get Oak at all. Cedar, yes.

It's very evocative for me...smells just like my auntie Audrey's house circa 1980 :)

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 25/05/2019 19:11

SOTD MMM Lazy Sunday for a trip to the hairdresser.
