Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Must try bal de Versailles

Iambuffy · 20/05/2019 12:03

Avon pur Blanca arrived. My £1.99 Ebay bargain :)

It's a very pleasant clean fresh linen smell. So it's my sotd.

I wore cloon keen suede galore last night. Lovely, but gone after about an hour :(

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 20/05/2019 17:16

I got home from work just now and went upstairs to get changed put my pyjamas on. On my dressing table was my much-beloved bottle of Memoirs of a Trespasser, which I have not worn for a few weeks. Ds was the only person at home today, revising.

He has admitted to going through my collection trying to find 'that nice one you were wearing the other day, that came in the slidey metal thing'.

Turns out he meant Tauer L'eau (although apparently LADDM is also 'pretty nice, as it goes')

I can't quite bring myself to be cross even though I probably should be. Told him he could borrow whatever he liked but to ask first.

And I gave him the sample Grin

Maud, what great taste he has!!! Grin

SOTD was Douceur de Siam, again. Waaaaaah. That's my unrequited love waaah.

MissMarple11 · 20/05/2019 18:23

Has anyone tried an opalex treatment either in the salon or at home. I'm tempted but not sure if it's all marketing and influencers giving reviews or if it actually works. My hairs feeling fried recently.

MissMarple11 · 20/05/2019 18:24

Sorry don't know how that ended up in here.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 20/05/2019 19:42

SOTD fM Hiver. maud he is a perfumist in training!

Iambuffy · 20/05/2019 19:47

I had opalex when I had my hair bleached prior to going grey...

I thought it was good.

Iambuffy · 20/05/2019 19:47

Sote pp by the fireplace

MrsMoggs · 20/05/2019 21:25

Evening All - just to say that if anyone spots any of the Roads perfumes going v v cheaply in TK Maxx clearance they might be worth a punt (and I don't usually risk blind-buys). I picked up Graduate 1954 for a silly amount with low expectations, and wow, it's good. Somewhere between (modern) Habanita and Chinatown. A very wearable tuberose and frangipani on a vintage-inspired woody base. I'd have said oriental floral, but Fragrantica has it down as a chypre.

Iambuffy · 21/05/2019 08:51

Sotd next eau nude

YesQueen · 21/05/2019 09:38

SOTD is a perfume parlour dupe of Acqua Di Parma Colonia

teta · 21/05/2019 10:13

Annick Goutal Le Chevrefeuille is Sotd.
In completely non perfume related news I’ve just ordered Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lipstick and pencil. Hope it’s good as my kids laugh at me with my Clinique Chubbies lip colours.

cloud1183 · 21/05/2019 10:28

I hit selfridges yesterday and was able to smell some lovely fragrances. I tried the new Hermes Jardin sur la lagune and wasn’t too impressed. It smells very different to the rest of the line and you can tell it wasn’t a JCE creation.

I managed to test a few Byredo’s (only ever smelled the pp dupes before now) and Bal d’Afrique and Bibliotheque were my favourites. I managed to get a sniff of Parfums De Marly’s Delina and it is amazing. Probably the best thing I tested yesterday

I also really liked the Bond No 9 fragrances but found them really weak and flitting given the price but most of them smelled really nice

MotherOfDragonite · 21/05/2019 13:15

teta, Pillow Talk is just gorgeous. The other CT lipstick that I love and highly recommend is Amazing Grace, which is such a chameleon -- it looks different but perfect on everyone I know who wears it.

SOTD is Douceur de Siam again. My sample is running out and I love it so! I am so boring that I have written literally the same thing about my SOTD for about four days now.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/05/2019 15:45

SOTD Byredo Gypsy Water.

Lipsticks are my other great love, but only if they're red. I have quite a few CT ones - Tell Laura, Red Carpet, Love Bite, So Marilyn, and The Queen, which is more pinky. Good staying power, but can get a bit claggy by the end of the day.

Bodyonme · 21/05/2019 19:18

buffy, I've come home to a fabulous parcel tonight, thank you so much, you're a gem! I didn't expect so many samples, would you like some money for them?

Sote is now HdeP 1969, thanks to buffy and so far I love it!! Peachy, spicy, chocolately, it's definitely ticking my gourmand with an edge box!

Iambuffy · 21/05/2019 19:41

No, not at all!

I like spreading the love :)

Glad you like 1969. There were certainly some interesting ones in the HdeP discovery box!

Dh has got 3 - jules Verne smells great on him!

I've got 3 inc ambre 114.

Iambuffy · 21/05/2019 19:42

In fact might go and pop that one on now...
:)

KaliforniaDreamz · 22/05/2019 14:24

Migraine here so no SOTD. just popping in to say hi!

Bodyonme · 22/05/2019 15:07

Poor you Kali, migraines are shit. Hope you feel better soon!

Sotd is HdeP 1892 Hemingway. Love at first sniff! I think I like it even more than 1969.

In less fragrant news, I heard scuttling overhead whilst working from home today and have since discovered a hole in the outside wall so I think a creature has taken up residence underneath the bath. Any guesses on what it will be? I'm too chicken to look myself so DH gets that treat when he gets home tonight!

Iambuffy · 22/05/2019 15:47

Sotd pp by the fireplace

Was quite cold here earlier

MotherOfDragonite · 22/05/2019 17:25

Feel better soon, kali -- migraines are horrid.

body, I hate scuttling noises! My money is on... squirrel.

SOTD is Fleurs de Reine by Godet. It's very tuberosacious and I like it!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 22/05/2019 18:54

lol @ tuberosacious!

SOTE is Boronia by Grandiflora. Fans of By The Fireplace or Amour Nocturne might enjoy this - it's a smoky, boozy, caramel tobacco but also a very clear fruity note. Interesting and highly sniffable. It's Duchaufour, so perhaps not a surprise that it appeals to me.

SOTD was Rouge Bunny Rouge's Incantation - another good one for fig-fiends. Lovely bright citrussy top notes and then a fig-and-rose heart - unusual but really wearable. I will definitely be adding this to the summer fig list Grin

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 22/05/2019 22:09

SOTD MH Rose Silence. It is cold here too, and had pissed rain relentlessly.

kali hope you are feeling better.

body yikes, hope DH has sorted it!
