Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

maud I couldn't get on with Rosa ribes either, despite it sounding right up my street.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 17/05/2019 19:59

I was in MMM Untitled today - whacking great galbanum. Now showered and in pjs and Kiehl’s Musk.

Am I the only POAL fan? I honestly love it so much.

Iambuffy · 17/05/2019 20:07

For me either maud!! :(

POAL is just too much (even for me!)

Sote Avon nightmusk as it was what I wore on my wedding day. Big party tomorrow!!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 17/05/2019 20:15

What did you sniff YesQueen?

Bodyonme · 17/05/2019 20:33

I like POAL Judy but it doesn't suit my skin so I gave my tester to my mum and she loves it. We generally like the same scents but they smell completely different on us. L'air du temps - gorgeous on her, pine loo cleaner on me.

Bodyonme · 17/05/2019 20:36

Sotd was mugler aura which started off well but then completely disappeared. Although I do have a cold so perhaps that's why I couldn't smell it much.

Tried une rose vermeille again at bedtime last night and I liked it a bit more this time but that soapy note is mega powerful on me and hurts my sinuses a bit. If only I could dial down that note a bit!

YesQueen · 17/05/2019 20:38

@MaudBaileysGreenTurban
MMM replica lemon tree (LOVED)
Acqua Di Parma which I've never smelt before, smelt the original and a few flankers and just bought the dupe from perfume parlour
Byredo Blanche (meh)
Byredo rose of no mans land (liked)

cantbelievemyeyes · 17/05/2019 21:50

Another POAL fan here, but I love pretty much any rose. Am close to the end of my current sample and am definitely getting a 10ml travel size when that's gone.

Off to Italy in the morning- I have Philosykos and L'ombre Dan's L'Eau for daytimes, MFK Baccarat Rouge and Grand Soir for evenings. HdeP 1969 and Fracas for inbetweens. Weather is looking a bit meh so may need my fragrances to bring some sunshine...

1frenchfoodie · 17/05/2019 22:02

Judystilldreamsofhorses MMM Untitled sounds right up my street, added it to my long list of ‘must smells’.

Just ordered Comme des Garçons/Monocle Sugi (love, love this) with testers of Hinoki and Laurel from the same range and DS&Durga Debaser - latter on the strength of recommendations here. Should arrive monday. I hesitated over the Sugi purchase as it has really bad longevity but I like it 5x more than things that last 2 or 3x longer was my final justification Smile

SOTD Histoires de Parfums Prolixe, smells like an expensive wax candle to me.

MotherOfDragonite · 17/05/2019 22:07

I just didn't get it with POAL. It smelled awful on me. The weird thing is that I can see from the reviews that other people get completely different notes from it. Must be my body chemistry.

Une Rose Vermeille really grew on me. I don't like how it smells when I spray it on my clothing, but on my skin it mellows nicely. It doesn't need much though.

Thanks, MrsMoggs and buffy. I will start with those, in that order! Everyone seems to rave about Coromandel...

I am seriously contemplating a 9ml of Rosa Ribes although Ribena scares me. It just sounds nice. But will I regret it and find that the blackcurrant wrecks it all for me?!

MotherOfDragonite · 17/05/2019 22:10

I got given a ticket to go see Eric Clapton at the Royal Albert Hall last night! I wore Une Rose Vermeille, I felt positively youthful compared to the rest of the audience (rare these days), and while I was out DD2 vomited on somebody other than me. Sorry, mum. This was only my second night out since she was born; what were the chances?!

MrsMoggs · 17/05/2019 23:47

It is a magnificent blackcurrant Mother. There's always the chance to swap here or flog on ebay if you don't like it....

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 18/05/2019 10:11

Well I could have sworn I had a sample of Rosa Ribes lurking in the mini-sample box but it appears not. I definitely had one once so I must've given it away.

So SOTD is now Traversee du Bosphore - a delicious woody, soft mix of leather, apple and turkish delight. I've not worn this for ages and now I really want a proper decant; it's divine. I'm going to try Imaginary Authors' Slow Explosions on the other wrist as they share several notes (leather, apple, saffron, rose) so it'll be interesting to see how they are both handled - one by a creative-but-slightly random indie and one by The King Bertrand Duchaufour...

body did you try replica whispers in the library too???

MrsMoggs · 18/05/2019 11:50

Maud - there was a lot of TdB in TK Maxx before Xmas, together with other L'APs in the old packaging, some of which seems to be turning up on eBay. Worth setting up a search?

Rebranding is the best thing ever Smile.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/05/2019 20:03

SOTD Byredo Bibliotheque for a lovely lunch with my friend. Now pjs and pizza ordered, in time for Eurovision.

MotherOfDragonite · 18/05/2019 22:44

SOTD is Douceur de Siam. Alas, I am hopelessly in love with it.

cantbelievemyeyes · 19/05/2019 14:09

SOTD in beautiful Italy is Philosykos and prosecco...

KaliforniaDreamz · 19/05/2019 15:13

Loving today! SOTD is Pierre Cardin Paradox as the lovely MrsMoggs sent me 3 gorgeous samples to try out. Thank you thank you.

HAPPY KALI

I'll post tomorrow body
I've put some surprises in too :)

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 20/05/2019 07:02

Ugh, I'm dying. A glass of champagne yesterday evening to celebrate dp getting a fab new job turned into three bottles and no dinner Blush

Long day at work ahead.

SOTD is Rose Silence because that's all I can cope with right now.

Iambuffy · 20/05/2019 07:04

Congrats mauds dp

Hope you feel better soon :)

Bodyonme · 20/05/2019 07:34

Ooh buffy, that's exciting!! Thank you! I haven't tried that replica but it sounds good. I'm imagining papery, powdery, touch of mustiness.

Congratulations on the new job Mr Maud! I'm also a little delicate after my parents came to dinner (always a boozy affair) and will also now suffer a long day at work!

Bodyonme · 20/05/2019 07:38

Kali, that article is really interesting. I don't own a single one mentioned and don't think I've ever even sniffed any. So perhaps I've been hasty in saying I don't like skank when I've barely tried any!
