I just can't imagine how it actually smells, with all the ingredients and notes it lists! I've discovered that Rouiller White do a sample of it so I'm going to see what else I fancy to make it worthwhile then place an order.

Thanks for the purse spray link Maud, I hadn't seen that. Meant to ask, some of the reviews on fragrantica suggest it's a bit on the skanky side, I know some of you like the more knickery scents but I'm not generally a fan! So where does it sit on the skanky scale?

I’m pleased you enjoyed trying the tuberose perfumes, Mother. I, too, find the L’Artisan one very wearable. The Madonna Truth or Dare, not so much, but it is still beautiful and stops me hankering after Fracas or Carnal Flower. I also like Madonna Truth or Dare Naked, which is completely different, a woodsy vanilla. A couple of years ago these were only £10 or so a bottle, but the prices have gone up as they are discontinued.

Talking about rose perfumes, on Maud’s recommendation, I have bought some Clinique Beyond Rose. This is “beyond” beautiful, a resinous rose with staying power. I have no idea why it was discontinued. Well, presumably it didn’t sell, but why? Anyway, it’s definitely saved me money (1) because I now can manage without a full bottle of Malle Portrait of a Lady (they are dissimilar but both hefty roses) and (2) I paid a bargainous price.

Yessss! Oh that makes me bizarrely happy, calm. It is wonderful isn't it? I also have no idea why it was discontinued. When I see the endless flankers of La petite robe noire or Si, yet great stuff like BR is now no more, it really baffles me.

Body, I wouldn't call Habanita 'skanky' as such. There is certainly a powdery, musky 'fuzziness' to it that could be reminiscent of warm skin and possibly, just possibly, a slightly unwashed vibe, but no real skank, imo. It is intensely soft and comforting and and yet also rather grand. It really is well worth a try.

SOTD Tauer Carillon Pour Un Ange, or whatever it’s called, I am too lazy to go and check.

Perhaps we need to agree a Perfumista's essential reading sniffing list, with a small number of essentials we all agree on?

I've been a bit absent as I've somewhat lost my perfume mojo. I want to find it again!!

I think I may use the starter list of essential sniffing as my re-entry into perfume fun (and only a month until I return to work and can actually afford to try them!!).

SOTD is, coincidentally, philosykos. I think I need more figs to try - any recommendations?

SOTD is Une Rose Vermeille. It's sharp, jammy, sweet -- but not cloying or edible as far as I'm concerned (I'm not keen on gourmands).

But only like 3 of them :( so let me know of any appeal and I'll send them on...

My fave figs are upthread I think pots. But they are Philosykos, L'artisan Parfumeur Premier Figuier, DS&Durga Debaser and PG Bois Naufrage.

Weirdly, I am also in Philosykos today. I don’t like Ninfeo Mio at all, I actually had a full bottle and gave it away.

We need to have a rose on our essential sniffing list. Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady? Also a gourmand, but which one? It needs to be easily available (for ease of sniffing). Black Opium? Dior Addict? Britney Spears Fantasy?
