Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

Nope.
I'm firmly blaming you 🤣🤣🤣
Actually I'm pleased as in going to give a couple of the literary samples to ds1s history teachers along with a card to say thank you.

Good idea? Or really naff?

Iambuffy · 14/05/2019 11:04

English teacher even!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 14/05/2019 11:16

Oh that's a great idea!

Shame there's no Jekyll and Hyde perfume Wink Could give the poor English teacher Damn Rebel Witches too, they must be sick of bloody Macbeth as well!

Ds1 said yesterday the teachers are more stressed than the kids!

(Its their first year 11 cohort)

MotherOfDragonite · 14/05/2019 16:07

Yikes, teta -- thanks for the heads up. Didn't realise it could be so dangerous!

SOTD is Centrepiece. I love it! My friend said it smelled like nice soap but I still get a massive burst of anise, which I don't associate with soap at all. Just goes to show how much our preconceptions and memories of smells shape how we experience them.

KaliforniaDreamz · 14/05/2019 16:18

SOTD coeur de fleur my friends say i smell lovely but i cannot smell it

SATS week here and a very volatile 11 year old daughter on my hands!

Iambuffy · 14/05/2019 16:46

Ds1 says his first exam went "ok"
Which is all he ever says!

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 14/05/2019 16:54

MrsMoggs I think you would love some of these HdP scents. A couple of them are pretty good and skanky Grin particularly 1876 Mata Hari.

OP posts:
MrsMoggs · 14/05/2019 19:53

Oh Maud - they do sound fab, Have always wanted to try 1969 (cloves and cardamon and coffee Tracey!). But smelling like Mata Hari sounds good too Smile. Although as a spy, you'd want to smell unremarkable, no?

Anyway, I had a sneaky look, and instantly wanted the set in the fancy box, and then reined myself back in. I just need to flog some of the outgrown children's clothing I currently have on eBay and I'll be popping right back!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 14/05/2019 20:50

SOTD Heeley Sel Marin. First properly nice day of the year here!

Iambuffy · 14/05/2019 21:44

Sote pp by the fireplace

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/05/2019 07:04

SOTD is Une Rose Chypree.

It's our 20th wedding anniversary today :)

Dh winging his way back from China.

No idea on sotd yet...I wore next eau nude yesterday but I wasnt feeling the love.

I'm veering towards an AT scent...

teta · 15/05/2019 09:36

Cristalle edp today.
Happy Anniversary Buffy.
Hope your dh is not too jet lagged when he arrives back.
Does he return with lots of food?
Mine comes back with a case full of Xo sauce and Hong Kong Typhoon Shelter Crab Sprinkles. Kids love them😁 Plus seaweed and pink glutinous rice cakes- Mochi!

Iambuffy · 15/05/2019 10:15

Ha! No. I get the airline freebies 🙄

Went for extra sexiest scent for sotd in the end.

My cloon keen samples arrived and I like all 3 👍my phone changed that to colon. How amusing!

Still got an fb of Avon pur Blanca on the way and the HdeP set 😊

MotherOfDragonite · 15/05/2019 13:44

SOTD is Une Rose Vermeille. I can smell the rose so much more this time. Last time I smelled something more herby and not so much rose. But I do like how Andy Tauer does rose. It's somehow interesting and acceptable to me in a way that it isn't usually in other perfumes. I don't really even have that much tolerance for sweet/gourmand scents - Amberama was way too much for me. But this is really lovely.

Last night I tried the tuberose scents, calm! Thank you so very much! Truth or Dare I would definitely wear for going out; it's maybe a bit much for everyday wear for me. The L'Artisan Parfumeur one is just brilliant, a calm tuberose that I like very much.

MotherOfDragonite · 15/05/2019 13:45

I actually really like all of these things I thought I hated! Tuberose, rose... what's come over me?! I guess it's different when they're done well.

KaliforniaDreamz · 15/05/2019 15:06

food shopping just now and i so nearly bought Charlie Red for some sort of nostalgic treat so sprayed it on my reusable hessian (!) bag, thought it smelled delicious, got the the till half hour later and realised it is rank.
left at the till.
sorry tesco.

Bodyonme · 15/05/2019 16:11

Sotd PP Soleil Blanc. No idea if it smells like the original but I love it! Very suncreamy/beachy. Not a million miles away from MMM Beach Walk, which I also love.

Keep hovering over the Molinard Habanita on all beauty but can't decide if I will like it or not! Has anyone seen a sample of it anywhere?

Happy anniversary buffy! Enjoy your airline freebies!

Mother, I really need to give une rose vermeille another try, I didn't like it initially but I also had another Tauer on at the time which I think changed how I smelt it.

Iambuffy · 15/05/2019 16:32

Habanita is bloody lovely

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/05/2019 19:35

Buy Habanita. Do it do it do it. It's absolutely marvellous.

I think allbeauty have a purse spray so not too bad price-wise if you do decide you don't like it.

God, sorry, what a horrific link Blush

Anyway, a Habanita purse spray - imo this should be the equivalent of the Mary Greenwells for Perfumistas - a non-negotiable purchase Grin

I've been enjoying Une Rose Chypree today, as always. It really is such a beautifully-layered fragrance that slowly reveals itself over the course of the day. Now, almost 14 hours after application, it's just a skin scent but there's a wonderful dirty patchouli hanging around in a L'air de rien style...fabulous.

My Tauer Miriam arrived. I'm almost too excited to put it on. What if I hate it? [cries]

OP posts:
MrsMoggs · 15/05/2019 20:21

Congratulations Buffy Wine.

Yes, Habanita is fabulous.

Sniffed St Pancras station today. Think I'm anosmic to electricity? Grin

Whilst on industrial smells, just to mention that the cleaning agent used at my local shopping centre smells suspiciously like 4160Ts White Queen. Do you think some aroma chemical giant has put it through a gas chromatography machine and ripped it off? It's quite an unusual smell...
