Evening all Grin

Apologies for the cheesy thread title.

Come and join the MN Perfumistas for gorgeously-scented chat (or Germolene and burnt frankfurters...)

I've just done a les senteurs order!

3 samples from cloon keen which is an Irish perfume house :)

Iambuffy · 10/05/2019 17:49

I was in town earlier and sniffed angel muse....Iiked it!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 10/05/2019 18:55

SOTD Mary Greenwell Plum. So pleased it’s Friday!

MrsMoggs · 10/05/2019 19:36

That's a great list Calm, thank you Flowers. Am off to sniff some Tommy Girl tomorrow, and have added 24 Faubourg to my eBay search list (already on the look-out for a little Diorissimo). (Need to resniff the L'AP).

Not sure how I feel about lily of the valley? Like it as a supporting part of a green accord, but find Carillon Pour un Ange borderline unsettling (can't help feeling I get a hint of something biscuity coming through at points? Am i imagining this?).

Iambuffy · 10/05/2019 20:23

Hmmmm
Would I like 4160 eat flowers???
Is it very floral or powdery floral?

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 10/05/2019 20:31

I've said it before, but Carillon is very carroty on me. I want to love it but can't.

Talking of Andy...my newest Tauer discovery set arrived today. I had a blast of Incense Extreme...which isn't. Extreme, I mean. Oddly soapy, actually. Slightly odd but certainly not unpleasant.

Anyway, such badness today Grin. After being thwarted in my bid to order the Brocard sets online, I nipped to Bloom to see if they had them in-store. Which they did. So I bought both. Plus samples of Bois Naufrage (to replace the one I've used up) and Incantation by Rouge Bunny Rouge.

...and then I went to TK Maxx. Who were hiding half-price bottles of Olfactive Studio scents behind the usual dross, so I blind-bought Autoportrait, thinking that if I didn't like it I could at least get a decent price for it on ebay what have I become??

I love it, and so does ds. We both stink of benzoin and incense this evening Grin

Oh and I also popped into Miller Harris and tried all of the new and newish ones (Hidden, Scherzo, Violet Ida etc etc). Meh. Scherzo had a few minutes of powdery narcissus loveliness and then, meh. Dull as ditchwater.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 10/05/2019 20:43

buffy what did you order from Cloon Keen? I have Sybarite which I really like but have not tried anything else, I don't think.

Iambuffy · 10/05/2019 20:57

Sybarite, suede something and roisin dubh

Iambuffy · 10/05/2019 21:04

Oh, I LOVE AT Incense extreme ❤
maud fantastic badness from you today 🤣🤣
I'd been contemplating one of the perfume society boxes but couldn't decide so opted for something I thought I'd like.

Top work Maud Smile.

I see SotW is Eat Flowers (which instantly makes me think of Calm). Have sniffed my sample; there's iris, and a lot of white flowers are also listed, but the overall effect is more of a whoosh of floral green (like stepping into a florists). Sharp rather than soapy.

My 9mls of last week's SotW arrived. DD gets almost top marks as her third guess as to where in GB it might be was Scarborough (she got the rock note). £7.50 is stupendous for this much fun Smile although I like the sweet minty opening more than the salty aquatic notes.

Iambuffy · 11/05/2019 07:31

Busy day today...got to take the car for a service, popping to the farmers market, then taking ds2 to the cinema so ds1 can revise in peace.

Trying to decide on a sotd...hmm.

Calmasasleepycat · 11/05/2019 08:23

Yes, Eat Flowers is one of my favourite 4160Tuesdays. To my nose, it is like a florist shop, but at the end of the day rather than the beginning. It has been a busy Saturday, with lots of different flowers and foliage. They haven’t quite cleared up all the clippings, so there are squashed flowers on the floor. There is green from the foliage but it’s lush rather than bright. And lots of iris, not powdery. I find it quite linear, but then I don’t mind that.

MrsMoggs · 11/05/2019 08:26

Excellent description Calm. Yes, defo a non-powdery iris, Buffy.

Iambuffy · 11/05/2019 08:38

Ah. Not for me then.
Sotd AT LADDM

teta · 11/05/2019 09:20

Sotd is Annick Goutal Le Chevrefeuille. I put my coat on yesterday and it smelt of this. It’s such a lovely green Honeysuckle. I only have a couple of mls left and then I will have to dig out Miller Harris Fleur du Matin for my Honeysuckle fix.
I went off florals last year as they didn’t seem to smell right. I loved Cristalle and Wrappings,Oakmoss & Galbanum. Now I’m on Hrt I’m enjoying florals again.Hormones must have a big effect on the way you smell or your perception of smells.

Iambuffy · 11/05/2019 09:21

I think so teta

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 11/05/2019 11:41

SOTD is another go at AT Incense Extreme. I wonder if this is actually a little perfumery joke on Andy's part, as this is very far from 'extreme' but it is 'radical' in the sense of the word that means going back to basics. Unlike my other much-loved incense scents like CdG Avignon, there is nothing dark or mysterious about this, no old musty churches here. The petitgrain and orris comes through beautifully, so it's clear and bright and relatively straightforward; almost refreshing.

Iambuffy · 11/05/2019 11:45

Agree.
I love it :)

KaliforniaDreamz · 11/05/2019 11:57

Completely agree Maud about the new Miller Harris stuff. really wanted to love Violet Ida but it wasn't anything special.

Calmasasleepycat · 11/05/2019 12:02

Ooh, I really need to try this. Another Discovery Set perhaps.

Have either of you (or anyone else) tried the Nesti Dante soap called Villages and Monasteries? That is a soft fragrant incense, not at all churchy, so I’m wondering if it’s similar to ATT Incense Extreme? I bought eight Nesti soaps for a bargain price and love the quality.

MotherOfDragonite · 11/05/2019 13:00

I am going to be the odd one out here -- I just love Scherzo! I bought a 100ml bottle and sniff my wrist appreciatively throughout the day every time I am wearing it. I also like Hidden a lot.

I have Incense Extreme in my most recent AT discovery set but haven't tried it yet! (I got a bit AT-ed out and wanted to take a little break so I could actually smell them objectively again...)

SOTD is Pearl by Sage Machado.
