Honestly why on earth do they need so MANY coats? It's absolutely ludicrous. Can't they have, say three? No one needs a new coat every time they go out, not even the Royals.

So Kate's shamrock corsage maybe a bit ott, but can anyone explain why those in uniform put it in their hat?? I'm sure ther is a reason but it's not the best look is it

In 2016, Duchess of Cambridge pulled out of handing Irish Guards their shamrocks.

It was controversial as it's an annual tradition that has been carried out by a female royal since 1901. Kate was said to be 'keen to get back to her children' so the duty fell to William. It was also said that Kate didn't want to attend every year as she didn't want it to become an expectation that she would always be there.

At the time, The Cambridges were accused of being 'part time' due to a lack of engagements and the week before they had taken the unannounced holiday to Courcheval. This a time when Prince Philip was completing many engagements.

Maybe George or Charlotte were really sick that weekend?

I imagine there was a very important (to them) reason why she missed 2016 as I doubt they'd have made that decision lightly - what with the media. Or maybe she had D&V - the palace is hardly likely to announce that, are they and just saying she was "unwell" would have caused too much of a stir.

Also agree shamrocks in hats looks funny. Why are they worn on their hats instead of pinned to their chests? There must be a good reason?

I'm hoping we see a return to that kind of outfit on her after she's had the baby. She's so pretty that she doesn't need any fuss or froufrou, just simple, classic styles.

I think the shamrocks in their hats is about putting foliage in their helmets as camouflage. So they would have worn the shamrocks there when going into battle.

I'm guilty of clothes shopping and being drawn to similar shapes, similar colours to what i already own. I begin with great intentions to branch out a bit, but seem to go into a trance, hone in on the familiar and realise i've bought yet another x, y, z. At clear out times i'm horrified by all the sameness in my wardrobe and year on year i promise myself to stop doing it but i can't seem to! Maybe something a bit like that is going on with Kate?

Personally I think she looks great pretty much all of the time and honestly i think her slim figure photographs well and is all part of the 'look'. Smart, structured and very disciplined. I'd strive for the exactly same in her position.
