I get the precedence thing.
Harry & Meghan were there early and were waiting inside the doorway.
Charles came and spoke to them.
Went through ahead (after the Queen)
Camilla was chatting to William and went through after Charles. Then W&K who went through after camilla.

H& M seemed to be led off by the equerry

DontCallMeCharlotte · 06/03/2019 10:52

I really hope nothing has happened between them all, it would be such a shame as W&H and Kate were such a team.

Having said that, my DH is one of three boys. One is local to us and we do see a fair bit of him, the other lives halfway across the country and I can't actually remember the last time we saw them.

The local sister-in-law is lovely and we get on pretty well but we're not huge mates and rarely see each other other than "family" occasions (although we see her husband more as he and DH go to football together). Apart from family, we have little in common really and if we're in the same room, it's unlikely we'll spend all that much time chatting to each other.

My point is we do actually really like each other. But if you filmed one of our family occasions - God help you - the interaction would appear to be much the same as the Windsors yesterday! (But more smiley I hasten to add.) So who knows what the situation really is with "the fab four"?

catzrulz · 06/03/2019 11:05

I thought it was odd that Kate came in on William's right side, she is usually to his left.
As PP have said, there is nothing to say the ladies have to like each other, but as in most families have to spend time together.
FWIW I think it's a shame Willaim and Harry seem to have lost the closeness they obviously had. That said, families all over the world don't always get on, but there's not many of us live in the spotlight like Royal Families.

Notmyrealname855 · 06/03/2019 11:10

The “Fab Four” was silly exactly for that reason - you don’t necessarily love your ILs as much as your DH! And not for bad reasons, it’d be weird to be constantly hanging out and bffs as a group of four.

Plus it doesn’t fit with the line of succession - H can do his good causes that have developed very nicely, and the Commonwealth, but the Fab Four doesn’t work to constantly have four at the front as it’ll be W’s lot that I’m theory continue everything. H’s children won’t have the role he had, otherwise it’s too top heavy

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/03/2019 11:12

I think they were all bored rigid, the whole event looked extremely boring.

Notmyrealname855 · 06/03/2019 11:14

You’d have to keep your eyes just so! If you keep them too open, people say you’re being fake interested. But if you don’t, well I’d fall asleep :) And you have to nod just the right amount of times... and at some point manage to walk off without looking rude... and not fidget! Or slouch... And sit up straight... oh gosh

QueenOfTheAndals · 06/03/2019 11:20

The whole event seemed designed to make Charles feel like he's still relevant. 50th anniversary of investiture as PoW when he probably expected to be celebrating about 10 years as king by now! I know he's hardly going to be wishing his mother to his grave but he's past retirement age now and still hasn't started the job he was expected to do. He's gone from being overshadowed by his mother, to being overshadowed by his wife and now his sons and daughters-in-law are the ones who get all of the attention. It's got to grate a bit, even if he won't admit it.

Queen then Charles and Camilla, then W & K followed by H & M.

On a slight side note, ever so slightly mean Grin, I remember watching a church service about a year or 2 ago - I think it might have been to celebrate a wedding milestone for HM and PE - It was certainly one of the last events he was at. Anyway, there was Andrew, looking a bit awkward as he hung about waiting for William and Kate then Harry to go ahead of him. And I remember thinking, even though it's been a while now, it must be weird for him because for a long time he was in that number 2 position.

Same thing will happen to Harry and Meghan in time. But I believe they've all learnt a valuable lesson from Andrew et al and that harry and meghan are fully aware of this issue and will, frankly, embrace it with enthusiasm. It's why I can't get worked up about the separate courts etc - it makes complete sense long term.

I feel for Charles actually. He's been waiting around for the same job for 50 years. But I really believe him and HM are close so I suspect his desire to be king has always been tempered by his love for her. There are lots of pictures of the two of them looking properly close and her looking mildly maternal.

Notmyrealname855 · 06/03/2019 11:41

If I were H and M I’d be delighted at not being top dog! You get to be more informal, more relaxed, can focus on the causes you really love instead of constant ceremonial stuff. Plus can use the “streamline the royals” as a great excuse to keep your DC out of the whole thing and give them a private life (Side note.. That’s why I’d hoped their clothes would be more high end high st, as they’re supposed to be youth ambassadors and they both seem so nice and relaxed people. Lest we forget MM wore M&S to Brixton! It has been done before. Anyway....)

Notmyrealname855 · 06/03/2019 11:42

Do you think Charles will actually ever be king? Wouldn’t he hand it over to W&K? (And if so, could he take another role as some sort of over-see-er?)

SlipperOrchid · 06/03/2019 11:45

M&ah just made a surprise appearance at the VE Day Wembly. She lioks fabulous. Harry looks ...crumpled. Huge smiles on both their faces.

user1457017537 · 06/03/2019 11:46

I think when you have expected to be King all your life I don’t see that you would give up your place in succession.

SlipperOrchid · 06/03/2019 11:48

Why would Chs

Notmyrealname855 · 06/03/2019 11:49

Woo! Casual MM is the best!

Honestly she has casual down - I think she needs to sack whoever’s advised her about the fancy clothes, because she’s obv got great style and can do it on her own.

H looks a bit scruffy!

SlipperOrchid · 06/03/2019 11:52

Apologies for the terrible typing! Harry is so proud of Meghan at the WE event. I bet he can’t say ‘my wife’ often enough. Such energy and happiness. Polar opposite to yesterday.

peridito · 06/03/2019 11:57

Meghan and Harry at Wembley ,sorry if a double post

Hello has the video footage. She looks great and they look very happy together.

There's no British precedent of abdication because of age (like there is in the Netherlands) or skipping a generation so he'll be kind for sure. It might not be for very long, although if he takes after his parents he should still manage at least 10 years. Plus I get the feeling that the last thing William wants is to become monarch while his children are young.

That’s a great video @Queen
Meghan and Harry are like rockstars to the younger generation.
They are a great choice as commonwealth youth ambassadors.

Meghan looks like she probably hasn’t been sleeping well.
Although her energy is incredible

The only issue with Charles acceding the throne was unpopularity.
However definitely since his 70th he seems more relaxed, and Camilla is definitely an asset, and will be needed once the Queen passes.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 06/03/2019 12:23

Kate pregnant with George in 2013 in the peach and with Charlotte in 2015 in the navy.
The skirts have been getting significantly longer over the years.

Thanks for heads up slipper and link queen

aaah Harry ,I'm growing terribly fond of him and his protective hand on Meghan's back . Y Y to bet he can't say "my wife" often enough .

they do indeed both look so happy together.

mrscampbellblackagain · 06/03/2019 12:28

Meghan looks great but I would be very wary of being perceived as the 'rock stars' of the RF if I were them.
