Phillips Lumea has changed my life!

Just that, really.

Been using it since Xmas, every 10-14 days. Haven't removed hair from legs, pits, bikini line or arms in 10 days now and there's practically no regrowth. This isn't a sales pitch btw, I just wish I hadn't spent the last 10 years wanting one but thinking they were too much money!

I have also been inspired to dig mine back out. I found myself buying and using a bloody twinkle razor and I should not!

The reviews of the NoNo are dire both on here and online.

Howzaboutye · 11/03/2019 21:02

It's best to do IPL lazering etc on days 1-14 of your menstrual cycle. As the follicle stimulating hormone is maxing then, it's all follicles that are affected, not just in your ovaries!
(My beautician told me this)

EntirelyAnonymised · 11/03/2019 21:04

They are bloody brilliant.

ALL HAIL THE HOLY LUMEA

Echobelly · 11/03/2019 21:07

Interesting... past 40 I've been developing rogue hairs on my upper lip and chin, wonder if this might be a worthwhile investment to zap them and any new ones, or for such a small area would it be better to go for a salon?

IncrediblySadToo · 11/03/2019 21:28

We need some kind of sharing system! Preferably with own atrachments🤣.

I didn’t realise you had to remove the hairs first. Is it like repainting a ceiling...hard to tell where you’ve already done?

They look really awkward to use, especially on the undercarriage.

CremeDeSudo · 12/03/2019 10:55

Also wondering about the difference between 950 and 956?

How did you get triple points at Boots? I've been looking out for it so I could buy a Lumea!

tasmaniandevilchaser · 12/03/2019 13:39

Hi Cremdesudo, I’m actually not sure about the triple points now I’ve looked at my order, I thought I saw it as a message in red on the website. I got 1116 points anyway.

Pinkyyy · 12/03/2019 13:51

I feel sold by the people on this thread! I've been considering one for ages and I think I'm finally going to order one.

One question- after you use it on your face, does thw area look red/swollen? I'm guessing that just means I'd do it on any visible areas before bed and hope it was gone by the morning.

Pinkyyy · 12/03/2019 14:01

Also is the prestige one worth the extra money? Or has anyone found success with the corded one? Sorry for all the questions!

cloudcloud · 12/03/2019 14:53

I can't get mine to do my lips. Mine only came with 2 attachments

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:00

I have the prestige.

pros

Smile Cordless means I can use it anywhere, I’m not tethered to a socket
Smile Cordless means i’m not getting tangled up in wires whilst i’m contorting myself
Smile Even though it was v expensive, I’ve had it for about 3-4 years and used it very regularly (once a month min once I’d done the initial 12wks) as it is still working.
Smile They are often discounted on Amazon, Boots it John Lewis, or available with incentives like triple points (wait for a triple points event at boots if buying from there).

cons

Angry It was v expensive
Angry I can’t do all of my areas in one charge^. I can do bikini area, armpits & upper lip OR one leg but it has go back on charge to do the rest. So to do everything, I have to charge 3 times.
Angry You do need to charge it regularly (I think it’s advised every 3 months) to preserve the rechargeable battery. Even if you aren’t using it. A lot of people haven’t and theirs has gone kaput. It is in the user manual through and isn’t a problem for me as I use mine regularly and it’s charged more often than that.

I think the newer ones have slide and flash functions, to make it faster to use. Mine doesn’t so I have to wait for the flash to reset itself every time. It only takes a few seconds (less than 10?) but I think the newer ones are instant so you can just slide the thing along and flash without the downtime. I love mine.

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:02

Mine does upper lip. It has two attachments, a facial one and a general one. The facial one does the lip just fine. I do have to squinch my face around a bit to get the pressure pads to sit properly and switch the zapper on.

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:04

Pinky, I get no redness or swelling. I use it on the highest setting. When I first got it I had a little bit but it was gone within 5-10 mins.

Pinkyyy · 12/03/2019 15:07

Thank you all. Which one do you have @EntirelyAnonymised if you don't mind my asking?

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:08

Not sure if the model no or if they still make it. It is a few years old and has probably been superseded by now. It is cordless. Let me look

screamer1 · 12/03/2019 15:08

Oh god I need one.

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:12

It’s an SC2007

Pinkyyy · 12/03/2019 15:13

@EntirelyAnonymised thank you. I'm just curious as the one with 2 attachments is around £100 cheaper than the one with 3 and I'm wondering if it's worth the extra

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:19

I wouldn’t pay for any extra attachments. TBH, i’m not convinced that the facial/sensitive one is 100% necessary (it’s a smaller ‘window’ and has a coloured plastic filter in it, the ‘other bits’ one is bigger and has no additional filter). I’ve used the big one on my face before with no ill effects.

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:19

I’d get the most basic cordless one.

Pinkyyy · 12/03/2019 15:22

Just saved me some money, thanks!

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:25

You’re welcome!

Pinkyyy · 12/03/2019 15:29

Okay one more question, I'm sorryBlush but it says you have to shave the are before use. Do you have to shave your upper lip before you can use it? That scares me terribly

EntirelyAnonymised · 12/03/2019 15:35

Yes you do. I use a little trimmer thing on my upper lip instead of shaving but shave everywhere else. That said, shaving is totally fine, so long as the razor is sharp, it’s only a quick stroke. You won’t end up like a circus ringmaster Grin. The zapping goes down to the root of the hair and sends it to sleep (sort of), the hair then falls out a few days/week later. It doesn’t kill the follicle completely, hence the need to repeat every few months once you’ve completed the initial course of zappings.
