Phillips Lumea has changed my life!

Just that, really.

Been using it since Xmas, every 10-14 days. Haven't removed hair from legs, pits, bikini line or arms in 10 days now and there's practically no regrowth. This isn't a sales pitch btw, I just wish I hadn't spent the last 10 years wanting one but thinking they were too much money!

I have very bad facial hair..dark, pale skin..which I bleach..I'm guessing it wouldn't work for me because I bleach it? (can't not bleach it as it's so bad)

Fazackerley · 10/03/2019 07:01

Mine has cut the dark chin hair by about half in 6 weeks.

The nicest thing about the leg hair is that it doesn't itch when it grows back! I've shaved and lumeaed my bikini line, no itching and patchy regrowth

Bufferingkisses · 10/03/2019 07:13

Does it not work on very light hair? I'm about as blonde as you can be, is this not going to work for me? I hate shaving Sad

FookMeFookYou · 10/03/2019 07:15

I have PCOS and it's changed my life. I'm now able to go out the door in the morning without worrying about my facial hair and the sometimes twice daily plucking I used to have to do on top of the bi-weekly waxing. I will now let my husband touch my face and I don't shy away from ppl when they get close to me. It's still there but as this is hormonal it'll never completely go with IPL but it's good enough for me. The lumea version I bought was a £500+ model in the sale for £350 - I've never before spent that amount of money in my life other than holidays but the difference it's made to me is priceless. Highly recommend to anyone still on the fence.

tasmaniandevilchaser · 10/03/2019 07:47

Is the BRI/950 any good? The only difference I can see between that and the 956 is the 956 has 2 more attachments.

Fazackerley · 10/03/2019 08:18

I've got the one with just 2 attachments and a cord
It's great I use the body one all over tbh

tasmaniandevilchaser · 10/03/2019 08:55

Thanks Fazackerley, just ordered one on Boots - £275 with triple points! And 2% cash back with Quidco

megletthesecond · 10/03/2019 09:01

I worry it wouldn't work on my hair. It grew back after electrolysis.

DollyPartonsBeard · 10/03/2019 09:16

Love mine, too! It's worked wonders on my thigh beard and burgeoning moustache!

AmethystRaven · 10/03/2019 09:25

I am jealous. I want one but I have red hair Sad I've started swimming again recently and I feel like all I do is shave and it's such a faff!

NuffSaidSam · 10/03/2019 10:39

Meglet

IPL doesn't claim to be permanent, it just massively decreases how often you have to de-hair. I think once you've done the boot camp bit, you have to do it once every few months to keep it at bay. It might work better than electrolysis because you've got it at home so can just re-do as needed? That's what I'm hoping anyway!

tass1960 · 10/03/2019 10:42

I've got one of these, had it for 2/3 and have only used it a couple of times. It wasn't giving me results so I stopped using it Confused I keep meaning to sell it on but now I think I will give it another go and persevere ...

NuffSaidSam · 10/03/2019 10:56

Thanks @nosleepformetonight.

I'm going to get one...I think! I wish I wasn't chronically indecisive as well as hairy!

mammmamia · 10/03/2019 11:03

Is it actually safe - skin damage, extra sensitivity to sun, discolouration?

EdWinchester · 10/03/2019 11:05

Me too! Best thing I ever bought. I now get about 3 hairs a year in my armpits and about 10 on each leg.

And I zapped the one black hair I had under my chin and I haven't seen it for about 2 years.

Howzaboutye · 10/03/2019 11:14

I bought the Lidl IPL one and it's great.
It's all to do with how strong the light is that zaps the roots. The salons have stronger ones that work quicker, but they are so expensive.

And epilating after is good as it further traumatises the hair root.

Hoping for a summer of successful fake tan on my legs!

HalloumiGus · 10/03/2019 11:49

It gave me a really bad ingrowing hair on my leg that has left me with a permanent red lump :( That put me off using it.

GorkyMcPorky · 10/03/2019 18:03

Hi all. I'm a stranger to S&B (irl too, unfortunately!) but just wanted to pop in to say I bought the Prestige just now for £299 on Amazon. Have to say I'm not looking forward to the undercarriage contortions Grin

IJustWantToWearDungarees · 10/03/2019 22:54

Probably a stupid question, but can I use my Ameliorate on my legs while using a Lumea? HI ha ve to use an spf with the moisturisers it has AHA, so I am wondering if I need to be careful with a laser?

Sorry - probably v stupid question. Am a bit of a science dunce. 😳

Mustgetonwithit · 10/03/2019 22:59

Not meaning to nab this thread but....being of the fair haired variety I cant use ine either SO has anyone used the NoNo!? and is that any good?

sazzle27 · 10/03/2019 23:44

Just a quick one - it appears to be on offer in amazon at the moment, although my account is showing a countdown timer on the offer; 20mins left!

Desmondo2016 · 10/03/2019 23:52

Ha ah just came back to this thread and didn't realise it would be so popular! I'm now another treatment down and results are pretty much perfect now, on armpits, arms and lower legs. Starting to get there on the upper lip too. And I must say, I broke will the rules and did the monobrow, just the bit across the middle and that's massive reduce too. Long live the Lumea.

If anyone is still on the fence, providing your hair is darker than your skin, id say 'go for it'. If mine broke I'd order another within days. I'm not exaggerating to say it has changed my life.

I'm too lazy to use mine enough. I used to have full on leg hair fuzz. It was manly. I couldn't wear tights, even dark ones without shaving my legs! I can't believe how less hirsute I am. I haven't even used it since before christmas. It works
