Just that, really.

Been using it since Xmas, every 10-14 days. Haven't removed hair from legs, pits, bikini line or arms in 10 days now and there's practically no regrowth. This isn't a sales pitch btw, I just wish I hadn't spent the last 10 years wanting one but thinking they were too much money!

Does anyone know about the prestige version? It's very expensive, but worth it?

Fazackerley · 12/03/2019 16:57

Noooo don't get cordless! I had a cordless one it was a pita

Get the basic one with a cord. Mine is both with a cord and can be used cordless but I've never used it cordless. It has one face attachment but I don't use it - the body one gives a very satisfying zap!

jalopy · 12/03/2019 17:26

Can we have a link for the basic one, with a cord, that does the face well.?

BobbinThreadbare123 · 12/03/2019 17:32

Amazon have got the Philips Lumea Advanced IPL Hair Removal Device for Face, Body & Bikini - SC1999/00 for £227. I have that one and it has all the extra filters

Pinkyyy · 12/03/2019 17:35

Can we have a link for the basic one, with a cord, that does the face well

Ooh, yes please! There are so many types

SadieContrary · 12/03/2019 17:47

Thank you for this post!! My body hair genuinely gets me a bit depressed at times and my DH offered to buy me this but I was worried it would be another crap gadget. Just read this thread to him and he's offered again to buy me one. I'm not pale, more sallow skinned but my hair is so dark it's almost black, maybe just a shade off.
Goodbye 'tache! Goodbye chin hair! Goodbye horrendous bikini line!

Chilledout11 · 12/03/2019 19:04

Thanks Bobbin..
I also need one for facial hair too

Fazackerley · 12/03/2019 19:22

this is the one that I have

lumea with two attachments

ArtisanPopcorn · 13/03/2019 13:11

@Fazackerley can you use that one on your face?

EntirelyAnonymised · 13/03/2019 14:56

The description says it comes with a face and a body attachment

Fazackerley · 13/03/2019 15:08

Yep I use the body attachment on my face. It gives a much stronger zap

ImpossibleSwirl · 13/03/2019 20:02

Does anyone shave their whole face to use the Lumea?

CremeDeSudo · 14/03/2019 08:45

Right, mine arrived yesterday. Baa. Bloody difficult to fit everything in the bag!

EntirelyAnonymised · 14/03/2019 08:48

Yes, the bag is a tiny bit too small. You do have to put everything in just so to be able to zip it up.

Fazackerley · 14/03/2019 09:06

I use the bag for something else. I had a big sponge bag that I wasn't using so I use that instead

peachgreen · 14/03/2019 14:49

This has convinced me to get one! Thank you!

MumNeedsTea · 17/03/2019 22:33

I have been wanting one of these for ages! Given that I get a £60 wax every 6 to 8 weeks, this would definitely be a great investment.

Query: would this work on Indian skin? I have brown skin with dark hair.

driftingcloud · 17/03/2019 23:01

@MumNeedsTea I think it's more effective on pale skin, dark hair due to the contrast.

BringmeGin · 17/03/2019 23:25

Bookmarking with interest, I've been looking at reviews of best IPL devises as the Lumea is a tad out of my price range. Has anyone tried the Dees ones they have on Amazon for £99 or £159 (3 in 1)? Gets 5* reviews. They came up in a review of Top 5 I read and the Remington one was also in there.

MumNeedsTea · 18/03/2019 08:55

@driftingcloud Thanks!

Howzaboutye · 19/03/2019 16:47

It's the joules per square inch and the wavelength that matters.
And the size, so it works quicker, and if it's corded (will need recharging if it's battery)
I looked up my Lidl one Vs the one on this thread, and they are very similar.
See if you can get the tech spec and see if it compares.

Haffiana · 20/03/2019 16:39

Costco selling a corded one (superior to cordless, imo. I actually cannot understand the point of a cordless one. The charge won't last long enough if you want to do more than one area. Plus you have to keep charging it regularly or the battery will die) for £194.89. If you are not a member you will need to add £15 to this to purchase a year's online only membership. Still a very good price.

Costco Lumea

The model is BRI923/00 and also comes with a (probably completely pointless) pen trimmer which you could probably sell on eBay/give to your MIL unless there is a space in your depilation routine for it!

Fazackerley · 20/03/2019 16:43

I agree - I used to have a cordless one and it was so slow. The corded one is brill

cakedup · 24/03/2019 10:30

Lumea uses IPL which is not a permanent hair removal method.

I use Tria - it's the only permanent home hair removal tool on the market, using diode laser.

Hushabyelullaby · 24/03/2019 17:25

I bought one based on this thread and was so excited to get it. I am however, absolutely gutted not to be able to use it. I was reading the instructions before using it and noticed that it said that it shouldn't be used by people who have pacemakers, neurostimulators, or insulin pumps.

I fall into this category, and there is nothing on the box to indicate this, only in the instructions.

I just wanted to let others know who may find themselves in the same situation.
