Phillips Lumea has changed my life!

Just that, really.

Been using it since Xmas, every 10-14 days. Haven't removed hair from legs, pits, bikini line or arms in 10 days now and there's practically no regrowth. This isn't a sales pitch btw, I just wish I hadn't spent the last 10 years wanting one but thinking they were too much money!

I always come on these threads to say me too!! Amazing!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/03/2019 14:11

Yep. Just wish they had been around 25 years ago! Would've been life truly life changing for young pasty, hairy me.
Also glad my own hairy DD's have better options available to them!

JeremyIronsBenFolds · 02/03/2019 14:11

Yep! I bought mine just after Xmas, and have now got to the the stage where there is barely any regrowth whatsoever, I am so impressed! After the first session I was a little bit like ‘what have I just wasted £300 on’, but I’m glad I stuck with it, I can’t believe how effective it is. I’m always paranoid I’m missing spots on my legs, but it seems to be ok.

Thisimmortalcurl · 02/03/2019 14:13

Is it sore to use?

Desmondo2016 · 02/03/2019 14:13

I know, it's such a weird mental mindset to still feel like I 'should' shave before swimming etc and then actually looking at myself and realising there's actually nothing to shave!!

Juicyfrooty · 02/03/2019 14:14

Is it good for facial hair?

Cuddlysnowleopard · 02/03/2019 14:15

Not sore at all. I use it on my bikini line, and have gradually managed to clear pretty much everything down there over the last 6 months. Honestly, life changing for me.

Desmondo2016 · 02/03/2019 14:15

I find it a little painful in the pubic area but I do tend to use it on the highest setting.

Kind of like an elastic band being flicked right against your skin, but it's only momentary. Legs, armpits and face don't hurt at all.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/03/2019 14:16

You get the odd sharp zap but not really painful at all. And quick to use.
I bought one of the original laser things many years ago and although it did work the laser was tiny and took far too long to cover ever a small patch of skin.

Desmondo2016 · 02/03/2019 14:17

I seem to be having slightly less success thus far, on the face but I think that's because the skin is less pale there. I'm confident it will be fine, just needing a few extra treatments than the area where the skin is paler and the hair darker

GoldenSyrupLion · 02/03/2019 14:17

Does it basically pull the hair out? If so it's a no for me as I get ingrowing hairs.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/03/2019 14:17

Only issue I've had with face is that chin hairs have started coming through white so laser won't work but I think that's an age thing not the Lumea!

HappyKatieA · 02/03/2019 14:18

Which model is the best please? I think this post has convinced me!

Desmondo2016 · 02/03/2019 14:18

And I agree @JeremyIronsBenFolds after the first treatment i felt it was money down the drain as nothing seemed to happen immediately!! Another good thing is being able to remove hair however you want between treatments so you don't have to go through the hairy yeti phase!

Desmondo2016 · 02/03/2019 14:19

I think it kills the root so the hair doesnt grow at all.

I've got the lumea prestige

OP posts:
Whatsnewpussyhat · 02/03/2019 14:20

No it isn't an epilator. It basically destroys the root so the hair doesn't grow, so no issues with in growing hairs at all.

I could never wax for the same reason.

Cuddlysnowleopard · 02/03/2019 14:20

It doesn't pull the hair out. It sends energy into the root which kills it from the root. It doesn't fall out straight away, though, it gets pushed out as normal over a few weeks, so it takes a few weeks to notice a difference.

Inbedbynine · 02/03/2019 14:21

whatsnew I bought one about 5 years ago and although I had patches of less hair it certainly didn’t get rid of it all. Is the newest one better? How much bigger is the ‘window’. I also agree that the one I have it’s far too small. Also the battery lasts barely a few minutes. Have to stop, charge and go back again later. Is the newer ones longer lasting? (Sorry to but in OP.)

GoldenSyrupLion · 02/03/2019 14:21

That's good but I see it only works on dark hair. I need something for peach fuzz.

MamaFlintstone · 02/03/2019 14:22

How long does it take to do e.g. a leg? I tried a boots laser thingy eons ago but never made any real progress as it took about half an hour just to do an armpit.

bananamonkey · 02/03/2019 14:29

I got one last year but find it’s taking ages, over half an hour just to do my legs. Also find the armpit a bit painful so gave up in those. It definitely made a difference but I gave up over winter so need to start again. Am I doing it all wrong?!

Desmondo2016 · 02/03/2019 14:41

I reckon I do everything in 45 minutes. Legs (Up to and inc knees), arms, armpits, full pubic area, upper lip and annoying fuzzy cheekbone bits.

Inbedbynine · 02/03/2019 14:43

Can any of the newer models be used whilst it’s charging? My old one you couldn’t use whilst charging which was useless....

Inbedbynine · 02/03/2019 14:44

desmon do you know which model number? I see there’s a couple of prestige?

JeremyIronsBenFolds · 02/03/2019 14:50

I bought the latest one, which you can use while charging, which is great, and has four different heads for underarms, face, bikini and legs. The face was the first one to stop growing, it’s totally got rid of my little moustache. The legs have taken the longest, but I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks there’s hardly a hair back. No ingrown hairs either, which is what I hated about epilating. It’s not painful, but can be a bit uncomfortable in places. I have very pale skin am dark hair, which is supposed to be the best combination to work.
