Phillips Lumea has changed my life!

Just that, really.

Been using it since Xmas, every 10-14 days. Haven't removed hair from legs, pits, bikini line or arms in 10 days now and there's practically no regrowth. This isn't a sales pitch btw, I just wish I hadn't spent the last 10 years wanting one but thinking they were too much money!

Ha ha just come back to the thread aftwr ages, didn't realise it had grown so big! So I'm now about 6 months in, doing treatments sporadically now, maybe once a month but not following any kind of routine anymore, just when I think of it. Upper lip, armpits, arms and legs are completely hairdryer and smooth. Life changing. Bikini areas taking a little longer, the front bit and the bikini line are clear now but the underneath bit growing back but very slowly and only in a couple patches- I think it's because it's more painful down there so I haven't been zapping as aggressively!!! So glad to see so many others getting good results. I feel sad I wasted my whole 20s and 30s removing hair and feeling self conscious.

The line of hairs between my navel and groin is 95% gone after just one session. I am so please about that.

I am finding that even areas not fully hair free yet, the hair that does grow grows slowly. I used to have noticable stubble the morning after shaving my legs, at the moment I can go a good week between leg shaves:)

ChiaraMontague · 14/06/2019 16:12

I did the patch test this morning, I’m so excited to get started!

Abcd3 · 14/06/2019 17:10

@NasiGoreng or anyone else, does the Lumea Prestige have the slider function that someone mentioned, where you can slide it up and down your legs rather than having to hold it in one place then another place?

Desmondo2016 · 15/06/2019 09:15

With the prestige you can hold the button in and it automatically delivers a flash every few seconds (best to have it plugged in if you are doing it like this). So yes, you can slide it if you want but you still have to wait for the zap. I find it marginally quicker to just activate the zap myself.

The lumea has also changed my life.
I am no longer smuggling harry from the Hendersons in my knickers

NasiGoreng · 15/06/2019 13:22

Yes it glides as Desmond says.

Abcd3 · 15/06/2019 17:38

Thanks!

Thebearsbunny · 15/06/2019 20:27

Could anyone tell me if using to eliminate hair from my top lip could cause coldsores? I’m rather susceptible to them on my top lip and I don’t want a breakout! Thanks

AccioCoffee · 16/06/2019 07:51

I have been using the lumea for 1 month and it's working brilliant.

However, I used it on the side of my face twice over the past few weeks and I seem to have gained tiny white lines which look like stretch marks on my cheeks. I have never had this before and the only difference is I used the lumea on my cheeks.

Does anyone know if this has damaged my skin somehow and caused this. I'm using bio-oil twice a day to try help and I'm upset about it.

Desmondo2016 · 16/06/2019 09:27

Is it possible you just didnt notice them before because of the hair? Ive aggressively attacked most of the surface area of my body over the last 6 months and haven't seen that at all.

IamPickleRick · 16/06/2019 11:15

Thebearsbunny I don’t get cold sores but I have very sensitive lips. I don’t think the lumea caused any discomfort, I think it was the shaving you have to do first. My lips were sore for a few days after but that’s gone down and as the hair hasn’t come back, I’ve had to do less shaving each time I use the machine.

Batshittery · 16/06/2019 14:37

Well, having lurked on this thread, I have bitten the bullet and ordered myself a Lumea Prestige. I signed up on the Philips website yesterday and received my code for 15% off. I'm very pleased. Thanks everyone

Abcd3 · 16/06/2019 14:41

Which one did you get? I looked at the Philips website and there were several versions of Lumea Prestige - I don’t know which one to go for!

Batshittery · 16/06/2019 14:48

The model is 1954. It was £325 but 'only' £276 with the discount.

Batshittery · 16/06/2019 14:49

this one

Abcd3 · 16/06/2019 16:39

Thanks!

AccioCoffee · 16/06/2019 17:33

@Desmondo2016 , no the makes definitely only appeared and the sides of my face are still hairy as before.

Just have to keep massaging them and continue losing weight

CoffeeMilkNoSugar · 17/06/2019 20:53

I just bought mine a couple of days ago. The fancy model with all the bells and whistles.

Quick question - I am pale, but my body hair isn't all that dark. Darker than my skin, but I'd say a light brown perhaps, rather than black or dark brown. Did anyone have similar colouring to mine? Did the Lumea work for you?

onetwofive · 17/06/2019 22:05

I keep thinking I'm going to take the plunge and going to amazon but then being so overwhelmed by the number of options! Not only are there the various lumeas but also the other, much cheaper, brands... what if they are just as good and I'm wasting my money on the Phillips?!

Desmondo2016 · 18/06/2019 08:28

@CoffeeMilkNoSugar I think you'll be fine, it may just take an extra couple of treatments (I say that as I noticed.my darker hair (legs and pits) was successful quicker but the rest got there eventually).

@onetwofive my friend bought a cheaper brand, around 130 pounds I think and it didn't work for her at all, but I don't know how long she persevered.

I zapped everywhere yesterday. Full legs, bikini, underarms, forearms and chin/ upper lip. I think the whole lot took about 1/2 hour. I'm still in the zap it every 2 weeks/ up to 5 times (I think). I'm on about zap 3 and the hair has already given up the fight.

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 20/06/2019 09:25

Hi all,

The BRI950 is on Amazon's Deals of the Day today.
www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-Lumea-Prestige-Removal-Device/dp/B01N6SIFM4?tag=mumsnetforu03-21
It says it's reduced from £520 but I'm sceptical. It seems a good price but is it really that good, or would it be better to hold out for a cheaper model to be on offer for less than £300, maybe at Costco? This model is discontinued on Philips website so it's not for sale for £520 anywhere.
Also is this model good for bikini areas?

Thanks!

Jins · 20/06/2019 09:51

I’ve got the lumea essential. I paid £110 on amazon and it’s now £129. I bought this model because I really only needed it for facial hair, pits and bikini line so thought it would be fine.

I’m coming to the end of the first stage and I’ve done 3 treatments. Facial hair now pretty much gone and I’m left with a couple of grey ones. Pits virtually clear - haven’t had to deal with them in ten days but very close inspection shows they aren’t clear yet. Bikini line hair free after first go. I’d epilated that a week before and nothing has reappeared in five weeks.

So impressed I started on lower legs. Two treatments finished and I can see a difference.

The lumea essential will take longer I think as there’s a smaller zapping window but it definitely works. If I’d known I’d end up doing my legs I may have bought the prestige version but the results I’m getting are good enough
