Phillips Lumea has changed my life!

Just that, really.

Been using it since Xmas, every 10-14 days. Haven't removed hair from legs, pits, bikini line or arms in 10 days now and there's practically no regrowth. This isn't a sales pitch btw, I just wish I hadn't spent the last 10 years wanting one but thinking they were too much money!

I think armpit hair is harder to zap because of the concave shape.

Terrysyogurt · 06/06/2019 23:07

IV got the wee compact one, does it work? Haven't tried it yet.

Terrysyogurt · 07/06/2019 07:10

Sorry, it's called a comfort one

NigellasGuest · 07/06/2019 07:14

Dont do it daily, you're just wasting your zaps. It's all to do with hair cycles or something, so just keep at it fortnightly.

MoonstoneMagic · 07/06/2019 07:27

Can someone explain what you would do If you normally had legs nd bikini waxed? Do you have to shave first? I had my legs waxed about a week ago and want to know when I could start using it? I have electrolysis in my face which isn’t too bad. No way would i shave my face!
I am just confused! I have asked my beautician about laser removal but she scoffed at the idea you could do it at home effectively.

RumblyGrumbleNoise · 07/06/2019 07:41

Ah ok. Just seems like such a long time compared to my legs which were done ages ago! My wax therapist did used to say my armpit hairs were "strong" don't really know what that means Blush so stick to once a fortnight?

lorribella · 07/06/2019 08:47

I do as previous poster said and I rotate to one week underarms and face. Next week Bikini and legs.

I have annoying chin hair that's quite dark and after about 6 weeks use it is starting to pay off which is great as it's been very stubborn. Although I will pluck some here and there but it's not growing back so quick

RumblyGrumbleNoise · 07/06/2019 19:07

Ok I guess I'm being impatient. Seems so long to wait! I'm hoping it will eventually take like my legs

NigellasGuest · 08/06/2019 07:53

It does seem like a long time but just imagine the follicles gradually weakening under your skin surface over the two weeks! (Or whatever happens behind the scenes).

lorribella · 08/06/2019 08:22

They do weaken. I got impatient last week and plucked my chin hairs and they came out easily (normally they are difficult to pull), they were very short and they also had the end follicle attaches which was sort of dead looking. So hope it had still worked because I pulled them but you could tell it's working eventually on my hormonal chin hair Grin

gotmychocolateimgood · 08/06/2019 09:08

Weirdly, I noticed loads of hairs in the bath after it had drained. I hadn't shaved or zapped for 5 days. So they must have weakened and fallen out gradually. In the shower I don't notice!

RumblyGrumbleNoise · 08/06/2019 15:01

Ok great thanks all for reassurance! I'm hoping soon Smile

Abcd3 · 08/06/2019 16:35

Has anyone with keratosis pilaris tried a Lumea? I’m wondering whether it would be ok with this.

NasiGoreng · 08/06/2019 17:53

How often should I do chin hair?
I've had great results after 2-3 fortnightly zaps on upper lip, bikini, arm and arm pits but there are 4 stubborn b'stads on my chin that refuse to leave. I've been zapping them weekly. They've slowed but still bugging me.

NasiGoreng · 08/06/2019 17:56

Actually I just pulled 2 out with tweezers and they literally fell out. Hooray.

onetwofive · 12/06/2019 22:56

Is the lumea definitely preferable to going to a salon for ipl/laser sessions? This is my last reservation...

IamPickleRick · 12/06/2019 23:01

I’m just here to say I had a full beard 3 treatments ago and now I have FIVE HAIRS! I am loving it! I will love this machine forever, it has changed my life in just 4 weeks! I haven’t done anywhere else yet because I bought it for my face but will start to. I just wish they’d done them when I was in my 20’s.

(PCOS Sad )

gotmychocolateimgood · 13/06/2019 09:39

I've never tried salon treatments for hair removal but I'm genuinely shocked and impressed with how well my basic lumea essential model works. It's very convenient too. Eg this morning I did two sections after my shower but don't have time to do legs (biggest area I do} so will do those this evening. No faffing about making appointments and no cost after the initial outlay. I can use it in privacy at home when it suits me. 5 treatments in now and most areas are completely hair free like the hair was never even there. I also have Pcos and resembled a gorilla before trying this! Skin is in fantastic condition with no ingrown hairs, red bumps or dry patches. I love it 🙂

NasiGoreng · 13/06/2019 14:46

It is cheaper and more effective IMO. I spent about £1K on my lower legs (when I was flush and pre DC) and it took about 6 treatments to get rid. I am 1/2 hair free after 3 zaps on my Lumea.

NasiGoreng · 13/06/2019 14:47

1K in a salon that is.

Abcd3 · 13/06/2019 18:18

Wow! @NasiGoreng which Lumea model do you have?

Astillbe · 13/06/2019 18:34

@Abcd3

The main reason I bought a Lumea was because I constantly had ingrown hairs on my legs (mostly my thighs) due to KP. I've been hair free for over 10 years and also don't have bumpy skin anymore.

NasiGoreng · 13/06/2019 19:51

Philips Lumea Prestige IPL Hair Remover from John Lewis at £325. It is pricey but worth it.

Abcd3 · 14/06/2019 12:59

@Astillbe That’s brilliant to hear! Very glad that it worked for you! That has encouraged me to get one.

@NasiGoreng Thank you!

Abcd3 · 14/06/2019 13:00

Wish I’d heard of the Lumea years ago!
