Rhubarb Sophie has a touch of a Gillian Anderson look in your link! Gorgeous

Wetdogloveshubert · 24/02/2019 20:35

Elspeth I love the first of Letizia's look you posted upthread. The second I'm less keen on, it's too poofy - much as others hate Kate's 'girly' skirts. The houndstooth two piece is great though, gives some real movement.

megletthesecond · 24/02/2019 20:36

rhub I just remembered the safety HRH
pin t-shirt.

NorthernLurker · 24/02/2019 20:37

I was hoping Eugenie's wedding dress would be Westwood tbh. Kate wears a lot of non British designers too. It's just that the dominance of McQueen and Packham overwhelm the others.

Paradyning · 24/02/2019 20:38

I hoped it would be too. I love VW!
It was Eug, not Bea, apologies at the ore-wedding party.

Another of Eug in VW. They all look fabulous here. I think Bea is in Elie Saab.

And SHOCK. Eug has a dark pedicure. How very dare she.

itswinetime · 24/02/2019 20:53

I wonder if the royals wearing British designers actually does boost sales or not. I love some of the dresses but I wonder if people who shop in that price range really care if it's brand Kate or Meghan have worn if that makes sense? The real designer gowns are so stupidly expensive if your spending that much would you change your mind just because Kate has shopped there?

I can see the argument re high street I'm sure shops get a boost then even with up and coming designers getting the some exposure is bound to boost them but with established big name designers like McQueen or Westwood I wonder if it actually makes a difference? Probably not a question anyone can answer but I was just wondering we think it's important but i wonder how much of an impact it actually has 🤷🏻‍♀️

AnneEyhtMeyer · 24/02/2019 20:54

Paradyning that's the nicest picture I've seen of those three. Eugenie is beautiful.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/02/2019 20:56

Those dresses must be all-time bests for all three of them!

bananaboats · 24/02/2019 21:02

That dress on Beatice is absolutely stunning! Agree all 2 look great there.

PinguDance · 24/02/2019 21:02

Eugenie looks fab in that red VW. I imagine the royals being seen in a brand won't boost couture sales but does promote the brand in general..? I'm sure Giles Deacon got a lot more mainstream coverage then he usually would when Pippa wore a wedding dress by him... (I know she's not royal I sort of resent using her as an example).
I guess it's also about the international exposure of the brand which could have a big impact in markets outside the UK.

PinguDance · 24/02/2019 21:06

I always wonder how the Alexander McQueen/Kate relationship works too - I feel like they must have a dedicated team to make nice coat dresses for her!

Kedgeree · 24/02/2019 21:07

Kate and Meghan are the wrong shape for Westwood. You need an hourglass, or at least a proper bosom for it - such as seen on the York girls and Camilla.

itswinetime · 24/02/2019 21:08

That's a fair point Pingu it must raise brand awareness if nothing else which I guess increases sales on the non couture part of the brand.

RuggyPeg · 24/02/2019 21:10

All 2.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

ElspethFlashman · 24/02/2019 21:10

Yes you need hips, or you look like a sexless pillar.

Sadly I have no hips, so I'm another who couldnt wear it. Eugenie has hips though so looks proper va va voom.

BartonHollow · 24/02/2019 21:15

The Kate Effect for McQueen must have been huge even though it was a well known brand it would suddenly have attracted the attention of wealthy families globally

AnnaMagnani · 24/02/2019 21:24

So which British designer so we want Meghan to wear? There's always lots of moaning about her not wearing British designers but who is she going to wear?

Kate already has McQueen. There isn't enough Emilia Wickstead to go round given Kate, Sophie and every posh person in town is already wearing her. Meghan's look isn't v Westwood. Meghan clearly likes Clare Waight Keller but she's at Givenchy so not winning her British designer points.

Who do we rate as a British designer match for Meghan?

AFifthOfKoolAid · 24/02/2019 21:32

Also Is Emilia Wickstead not from New Zealand, or am I thinking of someone else?

I think Stella or Posh Spice!

Or Daniella Westbrook style Burberry.

itswinetime · 24/02/2019 21:33

AnnaMagnani
I think it's really tricky she looked great in the Stella McCartney she wore for the evening do of her wedding but I don't think think it would suit while pregnant.

youllhavehadyourtea · 24/02/2019 21:33

Meghan's Dior is beautiful and regal and fit for a princess - except it's sewn so badly. the seams are all puckering , - like my sewing goes when I pull the fabric through too quickly, or when I don't tack it together to get the tension correct.

Something not right, whcih is a shame, because it's a gorgeous overall effect. I think she looks fab tonight. One of her best yet.

itswinetime · 24/02/2019 21:35

And does VB do formal evening gowns I can't remember seeing anything that would be the equivalent of the Kate's gowns but then I'm not a regular shopper there because well I'm not rich Wink

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/02/2019 21:35

I guess Victoria Beckham's silhouettes are very Meghan so maybe we'll see more of that after she has the baby. And she's worn a few Stella McCartneys. Maybe there are more obscure designers she could champion but she can hardly pick one now when she's not her usual shape.

@AFifthOfKoolAid Wickstead herself is from NZ but the label might be British.
