New thread for scented discussion, plus cats, teeth, and cats with problem teeth. Everyone welcome, we are as friendly as the title suggests!

Sotd was Patchouli Clouds. It was cold and really foggy here this morning. I’m now watching the sun go down over the hills.
Mother I think I’m going to buy a bottle of patchouli Clouds as I’m worried it will go out of stock. I just can’t bring myself to buy India blind. Plus I really like the sound of The Perfume Garden too. Maybe we can swop a couple of mls when you get your bottle .

Hope you all have a wonderful mother’s day.
Dd2 bought me some pink tulips yesterday and told me she loves me.
She normally fights with me 24/7, so I was a bit shocked 😮.
Sotd is again Patchouli Flowers.

67chevvyimpala · 31/03/2019 11:33

Morning.
Happy mothers day to all the mothers on the thread and a big squeeze to those who find it hard, for whatever reason x

My AT discovery set is lovely.
Shame about the horrid coloured carnations and card that was still being written as I walked in the room...Sigh.

No tulips in lidl so dh/dc just didnt bother going to another shop to get me some tulips which I love...
Bah.
I'm being silly.
I might go for a walk.

67chevvyimpala · 31/03/2019 11:36

Oops forgot that sotd is AT ACDD as I was moaning to much!
🙄😁

SelkieRinnNaMara · 31/03/2019 11:41

can i ask if there are any perfumistas familiar with Guerlain ?
For years I've grown ho him about scents, anything I loved, anything that felt a bit different ended up discontinued (Gucci Envy, Eau de GivenchY) but then with my dd I tested insolence, she wanted it because it smells of parma violets, and it does at first. But it develops really beautifully.
Then I remembered that I complimented a woman on her scent 20 years ago and it was jardin de bagatelle. I like the description of herba fresca as I tend to like fresh crisp scents like cristalle and ck one. Anybody anything to say about Guerlain as I'm suddenly all ears

keenwasalad · 31/03/2019 11:53

SOTD is Kiloan - kissing. So at least I smell like chocolates even if I haven't received any Mother's Day one! (Who knows, maybe teen-DS who is still asleep will surprise me this year) 🙂

Welcome to the thread Tracybeaker.
selkie I think you are probably best going on Fragrantica and looking up Floral Green and Floral Chypre categories. A few come up under Guerlain. I have similar tastes to you and Love Cristalle and Floral Greens. Aqua Allegorias are a good range to try. I have Aqua Allegoria Bianca, a bitter green Orange blossom which is beautiful and a couple of sadly discontinued ones. Floral green perfumes are undergoing a big resurgence at the moment and you can buy sample sets at certain online perfumeries.

Happy Mothers Day to those who are celebrating, and much love to those who find it difficult.

I'm working hard for my mum badge by looking after poorly DD1 who was returned to me at 6.00 am this morning by my DM, who decided that as she had a fever she should be at home. So I am beyond exhausted and also trying to write my second essay still. DD2 is, thankfully, with the babysitter so I have a chance.

teta, your view looks HEAVENLY. What a place to sit and watch the world go by!

SOTD is Fleur de Lalita by Dusita. It's lovely. I was kind of hoping I wouldn't love it as it's so expensive, but I do. It's very flowery but in the most unusual way, full of floral scents that I don't think I've ever smelled before. As it dries down there is also a very fresh green note of galbanum alongside the exotic flowers, it makes me feel I am far away.

SelkieRinnNaMara · 31/03/2019 12:40

@teta, thank you, I"ve always preferred scents that if not unisex, a man could wear. I'll look up green florals.

Anybody anything to say about Guerlain as I'm suddenly all ears

I love a number of Guerlains (also love Cristalle EdP though) but not all the reformulations. I am fascinated by the number of modern scents which seem to try and fail to emulate some of their older classics.

I've always loved Mitsouko which is intense without being too sweet on me. Shalimar is grand but sometimes doesn't work so well on me. Very fond of the old formulation of Chamade but feel its a bit young for me these days.

My DGM had a bottle of Guerlinade (don't think it exists any more) which was like a flower bomb but not in an oppressive way. I've never smelled anything like it.

These days there are a huge number of variations on every Guerlain major scent and many have been reformulated. I think I preferred their more focused releases rather than the mass of "smells like" variations.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 31/03/2019 13:37

SOTD is Rhubarb & Custard. Feeling very very sorry for myself so wanted something cosy, undemanding and huggable. Mother's Day means a trip to the crematorium, and DP and I have had a row and he's buggered off for the day without speaking to me. Gaaaaaaaah. Fed up. Going to eat some chocolate from the Brexit stash.

I've made a nice soup with all the scary-looking veg at the bottom of the fridge, though. So there's that, I suppose.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 31/03/2019 13:41

Guerlain-wise I love Shalimar, Apres l'Ondee and Vol de Nuit. I will consider that I have made it in life should I ever get to own one of those gorgeous square glass Vol de Nuit bottles. I have a soft spot for Insolence as well as I'm a bit of a sucker for parma violet scents.

67chevvyimpala · 31/03/2019 13:50

maud

I'm out with my mum and sister and we've just had a McDonalds! Haven't had one in years

Buy vintage if you can - the reformulation has no staying power on me and is not really the same as the scent I recall from childhood. (And I don't like the bottle).

teta · 31/03/2019 14:14

Maud 💐.

SelkieRinnNaMara · 31/03/2019 16:06

oh if I weren't feeling too lazy I"d love to go back to a department store and try Mitsouko, I have a feeling I liked that one 20 years ago. I can only try two perfumes max at a time when I'm out. It slows down my testing! But when I take my daughter with me she can be another other wrist, ha!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/03/2019 19:03

SOTD the Tauer Gardenia. Love to everyone struggling today - I find it difficult - and happy mother’s day otherwise, hope you have all had lovely days. 💐🌷🥀🌺🌹🌸

Not really.
I've just done the dinner dishes and put another laundry load on.
I think aibu tbh.
But...honestly...would them spending 5 mins actually giving some thought to what I might like or do be too much to ask?
Ugh.
I will get over myself tomorrow, I promise :)
I shall cheer myself up by choosing a sote :)

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 01/04/2019 07:19

Hope you're feeling better this morning chevvy Smile

SOTD is MMM Promenade in the Gardens. A greenish floral, nothing spectacular but pleasant and wearable.

Ugh, Monday. Two weeks to go until my week off.

67chevvyimpala · 01/04/2019 07:46

Yes thank you :)

Sotd will be chosen after yoga. I fancy something warm and comforting today.

teta · 01/04/2019 08:47

Heeley st Clements sprayed very lightly for Yoga.

MotherOfDragonite · 01/04/2019 10:36

Hugs, chevvy and Judy (and anyone else I've missed, for whom yesterday was tough).

SOTD is Miller Harris Scherzo. On me, it smells strongly of pear drops initially (!) and then dries down to a gorgeous sweet floral with notes I can't recognise at all.

67chevvyimpala · 01/04/2019 11:10

I have - perhaps predictably - gone for pp by the fireplace :)
