I've got vanilla, amber and incense

Lotsofpots · 15/03/2019 14:50

chevvy I'd love the flashes! just let me know how much you want for them?

Lotsofpots · 15/03/2019 14:51

Also, how are you feeling now you've had a nights sleep?

67chevvyimpala · 15/03/2019 14:57

Hi lots

A bit better! I went to the post office! I actually went outside! For 20 mind and have been in bed since 😂

I'll PM you x

teta · 15/03/2019 15:19

Well done chevvy . You must be feeling much better.
Lack of sleep is a killer.
My sleep has been mighty disturbed recently, but now have a Hrt patch stuck to my bum which I’m hoping will help ☺️.
Wearing the nostril clearing Patchouli Clouds. I really love the Frankincense and Sandalwood base and the whole pungent aroma of this perfume. I now really want to try India as it sounds absolutely beautiful and won an award but the samples are sadly out of stock online. Would I be daft to order one of their Chakra scents with a Elemi, Myrrh and Frankinsence oil base for the smell alone?
What exactly do you do with a Chakra oil? 🧘🏼‍♀️🤔

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 15/03/2019 16:37

A correction to my purchase the other day, what i actually got was Infusion d'Iris Absolue. and it is gorgeous :)

MotherOfDragonite · 15/03/2019 18:06

Ah, this perfume stuff is such a rabbithole.

The Marina Barcinella one where samples are out of stock (India) sounds juuuuuuust up my street.

On the basis that I finished my article and will therefore get paid at some point in the future, I was profligate and ordered some Tauer samples as well as a Marina Barcinella one.

SOTD is Velvet by Commodity, because I passed somewhere on my way home from work and could try it on. It's sweet and smoky (but more in an incense and honey way than in a tobacco way) and smells pretty much the same on me as it does on the... what are those pieces of paper called that sales assistants are always spraying perfume on??

Glad you are feeling better, chevvy.

MotherOfDragonite · 15/03/2019 18:07

Does anyone actually have India by MB and is it really as lovely as it sounds????

67chevvyimpala · 15/03/2019 18:20

Thank you x

I've pmd you lots

MrsMoggs · 15/03/2019 20:17

Hi All

How long did your Tauer's take to arrive?

(Calm - went for Une Rose Chypre, Rose Incense CdD, CpuA and Maroc. In the end I didn't replace LM this time, so may have to come back for more...was tempted by the flashes but held off).

Back to the violets, SL's Bois de Violette is sublime. A delicate 8am in the woods on a sunny spring morning sort of violet, but it is a bit of an investment. Tarts Knicker Drawer is good for a vintage parma violet vibe.

Talking of 4160Ts, I see Be Careful What You Wish For is SotW. It is great; fruit like only Sarah does, with patch and the lightest, softest, oud ever. A cousin of Midnight in the Palace Garden - slightly more introvert, and gently earthy.

teta · 15/03/2019 20:22

No Mother but I really want to try it. Even the Euro sellers don’t seem to sample. Maybe keeping it in such short supply is a good marketing technique! If Patchouli Clouds is anything to go by it will be very beautiful.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 15/03/2019 20:39

I'm very fond of Be Careful What You Wish For - it is indeed a lovely soft fruity oud.

The two Tauer roses have lasted wonderfully. I really do love this house.

MotherOfDragonite · 16/03/2019 08:43

I've just realised that I'm scared to try the other Floral Street scents because I think I won't like them either (tried Black Lotus and it was lovely but just not 'me' -- would be so much nicer on somebody younger and more glam!).

I woke up with this very vivid sensory memory of a perfume oil that my sister brought back for me from India. It was sweet, sharp and exotic, a blend. It was in a tiny clumsily moulded glass bottle with a thin plastic lid that didn't quite fit. I don't think I finished it and I wish I had some idea of where I put it.

MotherOfDragonite · 16/03/2019 08:44

SOTD is Scherzo by Miller Harris, which I am really very much enjoying. I still don't know enough to recognise the individual smells that make it up, but the combination is at once comfortable and fascinating.

CountFosco · 16/03/2019 10:20

SotD Vetiver Insolent. I have very twitxhy fingers and need to spend. Think it's a reaction to the sky falling in with Brexit.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 16/03/2019 10:56

SOTD is Tauer's Sotto la Luna Gardenia. Lush, thick, deep white floral which could be cloying in the wrong hands, but manages to stay on the right side of voluptuous. There's a spicy green-ness to it that means it avoids the slightly nauseating sweetness that heavy white florals can have, at least to my nose. Heavy on the vanilla as well which is never going to be a bad thing as far as I'm concerned. It's terribly glamorous and probably not really 'me' but a gorgeously put-together, grown-up scent.

stayingaliveisawayoflife · 16/03/2019 11:09

I am trying out a company called sniph which sends out a fragrance each month. I am trying the 'clean' fragrances. I am loving my first one. Does anyone else use them? I am not recommending or work for them just wondering if it is worth carrying on.

teta · 16/03/2019 11:14

The Tauer Gardenia sounds lovely Maud.
I also have twitchy fingers today . Do you reckon it’s because of the weather? The wind has been howling here all night and making my ears ache. I’ve given up pondering Brexit. I’m tired of the odious politicians and have developed a pronounced dislike of that Rees Mogg guy and the orgasmic political commentators. When nothing really changes in spite of each vote being apparently crucial 🤯.
Sotd is again Marina Barcenilla Patchouli Clouds.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 16/03/2019 13:03

I think the miserable weather and the hideousness of brexit may well have something to do with it, teta. We all need a bit of cheerful indulgence at the moment! I've just done a food bank collection outside my local supermarket in the rain, and it was so windy we were having to hang onto the collection trolleys! Grim. So now I'm off home to snuggle under a blanket and count my (gorgeously-scented) blessings...

67chevvyimpala · 16/03/2019 14:31

I'm definitely Brexit anxiety shopping!

I've got 2 bottles of Avon timeless squirrelled away...

MotherOfDragonite · 16/03/2019 19:03

Omg, I've made such a discovery. The clothing shop And Other Stories also do perfumes. They are really very reasonably priced and I was surprised by how lovely they were (and they have perfume oils, my secret weakness!). I bought Sardonyx Fire, my sister picked up Punk Bouquet, both smelled amazing on us. £13 for a 6 ml oil, which goes a long way -- my last one was about £40 for the same amount.

Got home and googled them and the 'nose' who created them is Jerome Epinette!

MotherOfDragonite · 16/03/2019 19:04

And the Sardonyx Fire perfume oil is, at least on me, a dupe for Scherzo by Miller Harris!

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/03/2019 23:13

SOTD Miller Harris LDR.

God, the weather!

mother I saw Stories were doing perfumes. We don’t have a shop here but I buy quite a lot of clothes from them online. I am currently wearing a lovely grey jumper from there, with very attractive M&S fleece lined tracksuit bottoms which i spilt nail oil on earlier. I look like I wet myself.

MrsMoggs · 16/03/2019 23:27

SotD is Feminine du Bois (SL). Found it when setting out my samples box. Do love it.

1frenchfoodie · 17/03/2019 07:05

Totally agree with you on & Other Stories mother , they do some lovely stuff. I have the sardonyx fire perfume oil and havana blues spray. I dont get the advertised tobacco leaves but it is really bright and fresh. I love their Fig Fiction body wash - green and fresh, no sweetness - but my local shop never seems to have the perfume/oil in. Must check again.

I’d be enjoying these above but I am on a bit of a quest for a smoky fragrance DH and I both enjoy. I am in love with the admittedly quite creosote edge of naomi goodsir’s bois d’ascèse while he can’t stand it (and it really does project). And he finds MM’s By the Fireplace nice but after ascèse I find it too sweet. It might work for warmer weather but now I can’t drop the idea of the perfect smokiness. Any ideas? I have €37 of samples in a basket with Nose Paris but I am just going on fragrantica notes so your expert views would be great.

SOTD liqueur charnell, Pierre Guillaume.
