Hi head! I was a perfume rookie last year, and while my knowledge is nothing compared to most of those on here, my collection of testers had grown enormously... I started by getting a tester set from
4160 Tuesdays, Bloom and feel unique (mainly the floral street ones) and working out what I liked and didn't. And looking at notes and recommendations based on those. It has become an expensive rabbit hole...

Velvet sounds gorgeous mother. I have a tester of book by commodity and I love it. Not at all what I was expecting.
Let us know how you get on with the testers - I'm a big fan of the floral street black lotus.

After stepping away from this thread cos well... the temptation!!! But I'm back ice caved and already done a PP order. I need a bit of variety as I'm very heavy on orientals and iris but am craving flowers.
Where are you getting the tauer samples from? Georgian at al.. I'd like some roses but always either and don't buy cos there's so many roses I can't choose.

lotsofpots, I did actually try out Black Lotus yesterday. It's a beautiful fragrance but it was just a bit much on me, definitely an evening scent but one that didn't suit me. Very dark and smokey and sweet (see, I am learning the lingo from reading up on Fragrantica!!!) but I found the tobacco and sweet combo a bit too much.

Thank you so much for mentioning 4160 Tuesdays, their stuff sounds incredible. It's very much on my list of things to sniff...

i had mooch in TK max and there wasn't very much although i was almost tempted by a bottle of Arpege Lanvin, of which i know nothing but it just seemed more, um, classy amidst all the Justin Bieber's girlfriend crap.

Picked up my Shanghai Tang perfume set after Yoga. They’re all meh and smell highly generic but the bottles are very cute. In complete contrast to the absolutely stunning Marina Barcenilla Patchouli Flowers. Has a piercingly head clearing Patchouli opening and beautiful heart notes with Rose and Jasmine tempering the Patchouli. Very mellow basenotes with Sandalwood. I don’t like Patchouli normally but this is so high quality and so very different to the norm. I’m going to have to buy a bottle of this.

Smelt a beautiful fragrance at Lush - Rentless. Patchouli, labdanum, tonka and grapefruit (£25 for 30ml, £49 for 50ml).

SOTD - Miller Harris Rose Silence (freshly picked rose, tangy blackcurrant, juicy mandarin... sandalwood and musks create an impression of warm skin). The magazine freebie from last year. Perfect for this in between weather we're having.

I got Carillon pour Ange in a previous Les Senteurs sample order teta, it is beautiful but yes the sillage is knockout!

The Tauer sets are direct from the Tauer website last, he ships to the UK now!

Judy please let me know what Orange Star is like, I nearly had that in my order but went for L'Eau instead which is lemons rather than oranges.

SOTD Tauer Carillon Pour Un Ange. It smells like spring, with a hint of stable, even though it's freezing and blowing a gale out.

georgian I actually sprayed a bit of that on my hand last night, but don't feel I got much citrus at all from it, let alone anything that could be identified as orange. Will try again next week.

I'm also in Tauer today after my samples arrived yesterday! Bliss

I have Incense Rose on my left wrist and Une Rose Vermeille on my right. He's a blardy genius with rose, imo. Both gorgeous - the Vermeille slightly sweeter and jammier, the Incense with that cold stone edge I love. Am saving Une Rose Chypree for later as I know how much I love and will need to eke it out.

Also got L'eau which I'm excited to try and Sotta la luna Gardenia which I've never sniffed before

teta I've had Carillon in the past - agree about the nuclear sillage! it's a powerhouse of of lily-of-the-valley, if such a thing is possible. I can't wear it really but i appreciate its spectacularness

I am also loving my Imaginary Authors samples atm, especially O, Unknown! (a beautiful, calming tea and sandalwood blend), Slow Explosions (apples, leather, saffron and roses) and Memoirs of a Trespasser (smoke, cognac and vanilla).

Thanks for review Judy, I didn't order it in the end as I didn't want to smell orangey so that's a positive in my eyes!

I was a bit Tauer'd out after yesterday so have Philosophy Ballet Rose on today which is fine but instantly forgettable!
