chevvy i have given up on RL today and am just ordering perfume

KaliforniaDreamz · 05/03/2019 14:06

which other Avon do u rec?

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 14:28

Their ambre sultan is good. Their opium and Rive gauche are excellent!
I rate the le labo 22 too.

Re: Avon I like woody/oriental/amber/warm so I've gone for timeless (which you have) imari, velvet amber and tomorrow.

Little black dress is a very nice light spring citrus scent.

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 14:29

Me too kali!!

I'm nursing a sick child so browsing perfume websites is a totally good use of my time 😂😂😂😂

KaliforniaDreamz · 05/03/2019 14:32

nothing like a sick child to slow you down ad]nd make you smell the coffee i mean perfume haha x

can't wait for my PPs to turn up now!

Calmasasleepycat · 05/03/2019 17:31

Today, I’ve been wearing Tauer’s LAir du Desert Marocain on my left arm and Au Coeur du Desert on my right. It’s confirmed which one I prefer - definitely the Coeur. I know the LADDM is the famous one, but on me the Coeur is warmer and not so dry. I have a miniature of the LADDM so that will do me, and a trip to Les Senteurs in the next couple of months is planned to buy a full bottle of the Coeur. It has nuclear staying power so the cost per hour is really quite reasonable (trying to convince myself! 😊).

I also really, really want to buy a bottle of Zoologist Civet.

Kalifornia, I have a planning list for PP but keep changing it. It includes Gucci Envy, Lilac Love and By The Fireplace. The ones I have bought more than once are: Riv Gosh; Nuit Vol; Velvet Roses and Oudh; Midnite Poizon; Encens Saatin. For summer, many of the Jo Malone dupes work well, and last longer than the originals.

CountFosco · 05/03/2019 17:55

I also really, really want to buy a bottle of Zoologist Civet.

I love Civet, it reminds me of sitting in front of a warm fire eating buttered toast and stroking my childhood cat. Best scent memory ever. Think when I get my next minibonus in June I may give in to temptation and sign up for the Bloom Nose subscription for 6 months and then just get all the Zoologists.

SotD PG24 Papyrus de Ciane. Love the sharp green opening but not so fussed by the musky dry down on my retest. It's off my list of potential FBs.

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 18:27

Civet sounds lovely.

So many perfumes, so little money time!

MrsMoggs · 05/03/2019 19:08

I love Civet.
There are lots of vintage things which offer a similar lit-up from the inside rose-tinted glow. (Sure I'm paraphrasing someone here?).

Calmasasleepycat · 05/03/2019 19:15

Count, I love that dusty parchment note in PG Papyrus de Ciane! And the greenness and incense. Nuit de Tubereuse also has the dusty note, although they are not similar perfumes. I did buy a full bottle of another dusty parchment perfume, Imaginary Authors “O, Unknown”. This is iris and smokey tea with parchment notes. Quite beautiful and, on me, long lasting.

67, I know - there are so many perfumes! I really have to be selective. There are so many that I love, but I try not to buy anything that is similar to something I already have.

teta · 05/03/2019 19:42

I’ve just ordered some Marina Burcinella samples. I’m really looking forward to trying Patchouli Clouds and Under the Orange tree.
Sotd is Cristalle edp. Seemed appropriate for a chilly sunny day this morning, which turned into a rainy deluge of a day.
Sympathies to the sick children and patience to the adults looking after them. Love Papyrus de ciene. Did it come as part of the green set from Bloom? I’ve never tried Civet. The name sounds somewhat intimidating. Is it easy to wear?

Calmasasleepycat · 05/03/2019 19:52

Yes, MrsMoggs, the vintages do seem to have a depth that is often missing from moderns (but is beautiful in Civet). I remember the beautiful vintage Missoni you sent me and your little sample of Femme sent me off to Ebay for a large bottle! 😊 And I don’t think I would ever want to be without Theo Fennell Scent (deeply skanky rose - just don’t wear it on public transport!).

MrsMoggs · 05/03/2019 20:03

Flying the flag for civet-filled oldies but goodies, including Diva, Paloma Picasso, Diorissimo and Magie Noire. These all give the Zoologist a run for it's animalic money. And most of all, Civet fans need to try vintage Femme (even parfum strength can sometimes be picked up more cheaply than a bottle of Civet). Surely Civet is a homage to this work of genius?

Best quote on Femme: '...intellectual sexy, like Charlotte Rampling in the 70s' (Barbara Herman, Yesterday's Perfumes).

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 20:04

mrsm kindly sent me some TF scent and ooof its gorgeous!

Sote 4160 extra sexiest scent on the planet ever.

Ds2 very pale. Poor lamb.

MrsMoggs · 05/03/2019 20:05

Sorry Calm - didn't see your post. Clearly we speak as one voice on Femme!

MrsMoggs · 05/03/2019 20:07

Chevvy - Knowing has a civet note doesn't it?

HaventGotAllDay · 05/03/2019 20:11

You've popped up in Actives so I'm popping in to say hello (again) it's me, PIAM etc.
I am still in a perfume meh rut. Though have pulled back on the Opium-Shalimar-Samsara comfort blanket of spice and entered the equally comforting blanket of Chanel 19-Rive Gauche-Dioressence. My last 10ml of old Dioressence is getting low. Must obtain more!

I hope you're all well, and I WILL be back properly soon.

CountFosco · 05/03/2019 20:12

Love Papyrus de ciene. Did it come as part of the green set from Bloom?

It did indeed.

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 20:13

Yes mrsm indeed it does.

Hi piam!

67chevvyimpala · 05/03/2019 20:19

I think knowing is proper skanky :) not for the faint hearted!

MrsMoggs · 05/03/2019 20:45

Have been on a wonderful vintage Dior jag thanks to you...(NC here too - PM me if necessary..). In Diorling today. (Diorama recommended for civet).

auberginesrus · 05/03/2019 20:52

Just reporting back on a mooch in TK Maxx - mostly the usual rubbish but they had a few Shalimar in what looked too be the old bottles and a small bottle of Atelier Cologne Silver Iris in a rather spiffy leather travel case thing. I bought some EA Green Tea for £6

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 05/03/2019 23:11

Hi, PIAM!

chevvy sorry to hear DS is no better. I swear, DP and I have barely shared a bed this year, never mind anything else, because one or both of us has been ill.

SOTD was Miss Dior, but now in MMM Sunday Morning and pyjamas.
