And I shouldn't have to say this anymore but will do so for any newbies - let's keep our critiquing to the clothes and not the women wearing them.

oh hello TIARAS

If I had one, I’d wear it secretly at home! Just watching trash telly and looking like a queen!

The exhibition photos are great! Really interesting from a fashion point of view, and in how they’d long term build up an image and style

TheDistantSky · 18/02/2019 10:48

DoS would look amazing in a kaftan

DontCallMeCharlotte · 18/02/2019 12:03

Going back to jewels. When I visited the Tower of London to look at the Crown Jewels a few years back, I was gobsmacked by how brilliant & beautiful the crowns were & how so larger than life they seemed when knowing all the history behind them.

A few years back we went to a wedding at the Royal Naval College in Greenwich. The "wedding breakfast" was held in the Painted Hall and the evening reception was held in the Crypt beneath the painted hall.

I was quite tiddly by the time I noticed a cabinet along one wall which was displaying the Crown Jewels. I was like "OMFG look!! It's the Crown Jewels!! " It was a while before it even occurred to me that a load of naval types on the lash would hardly be trusted with them. But I have to say they were the most extraordinary and accurate (and sparkly!) replicas. At least I assume they were replicas...

That tiara (in Dundee) is stunning - the way it's lit almost makes it look like it's made of glass.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/02/2019 12:21

I'm going to the Tower of London tomorrow so I will check out the Crown Jewels and report back!

Anne in York last Friday. www.yorkpress.co.uk/news/17437232.princess-anne-makes-first-visit-to-national-railway-museum-in-york/#gallery1 A million miles away from tiara glamour!

Disfordarkchocolate · 18/02/2019 16:40

I wonder what Anne thought of the royal train carriages at York. Some are lovely, the most modern one not so much.

FATEdestiny · 18/02/2019 18:54

I watched The Diana Story on Netflix today.

Can anyone explain Princess Margaret not bowing her head as Diana's coffin went past? The whole of the rest of the Royal Family did, seems extremely controversial that she alone didn't.

Was any explanation given or speculated?

beanaseireann · 18/02/2019 19:30

Probably because Princess Margaret would think it beneath her to bow to Diana.
PM was an entitled b*tch apparently.
But I'm not British and I don't think the Royals are a cut above me. Just an accident of birth.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/02/2019 19:46

I thought Diana and Margaret got on well together? I seem to remember Andrew Morton saying she'd told him "oh I adore Margot" or something like that.

BartonHollow · 18/02/2019 19:52

I read a thing the other day that Diana and Margaret got on extremely well and to be honest you can see it, Margaret was also glamorous, demanding and mercurial

Rhubarbisevil · 18/02/2019 19:52

Princess Margaret wasn’t completely compos mentes (or however you spell it) in her final years, so perhaps she was there in body but not in mind. Don’t forget that she burnt her ankles in a bath Hmm

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/02/2019 20:07

Yes but I just assumed she'd been on the gin when that happened!

Paradyning · 18/02/2019 20:12

I wonder if she ended up being diabetic along with her other serious health woes. Quite a classic accident for diabetic sufferers to incur

mathanxiety · 18/02/2019 20:59

Grin a little more west Brit than either, Beanaseireann. I missed the Southside accent shifting of the 90s and 00s.

Rhubarbisevil · 18/02/2019 20:59

Sorry about the Daily Mail link

BigGreenOlives · 18/02/2019 21:18

Poor Princess Margaret and her poor children knowing their mother was so unhappy.

BigGreenOlives · 18/02/2019 21:21

Another article on Princess M & Roddy L Town and Country Roddy Llewellyn and Princess Margaret.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/02/2019 21:24

I'm not sure PM was ever really happy or fulfilled with her life, which is quite sad.

And here’s the connection between Princess Margaret and the model, Stella Tennant...

www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwj38ajXnMbgAhUxzIUKHQv5CmQQzPwBegQIARAC&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.independent.co.uk%2Farts-entertainment%2Fa-solitary-kind-of-splendour-1153079.html&psig=AOvVaw2HU4uytx-fiRVK2JW9yz6L&ust=1550611652919559

Colin Temnant, Stella’s half-uncle, was a “friend” of Princess Margaret. He bought the island of Mustique, as one does...

BartonHollow · 18/02/2019 21:42

The connection is deeper

Stella Tennants grandmother the Duchess Of Devonshire was a social acquaintance of Margaret, The Queen and in particular a close friend of Prince Charles

princessbear80 · 18/02/2019 21:46

If I remember rightly from the Ma’am Darling book, Princess Margaret never forgave Diana for the televised interview she did.

VanillaSugarr · 18/02/2019 21:57

AKA Debo Mitford!

Megs is channeling the Beckham boys!
