sheep same here re clutter in hall! My dds are constantly going in and out to school, dance classes etc so we have a lot of bags lying around. And shoes. So many shoes and boots. I try and keep on top of it but my dds are much more pragmatic - they say it shouldn't look like a show home, we're a family and we have STUFF!

NotAnActualSheep · 11/02/2019 16:10

YY to stuff soups! But everyone else seems to manage to keep their stuff in some semblance of neatness Grin Any storage we have (and we have a huge coat cupboard) is ignored in favour of the floor or stair newel post - which, to be fair, does shout out to have coats hung off it - but still.... (I'm as bad as the others, frankly - as the coat cupboard is currently hidden behind DSs bike after a series of bike thefts from the area about a year ago)

DSs concession to neatness is taking his shoes off and putting them by the radiator rather than ON THE STAIRS Angry or in the middle of the corridor.... At the risk of angering the gods of MN, we don't take our shoes off as a matter of course on entering the house, so i have no idea where he's got this shoe-off thing...he's much more housetrained than DH and I - apart from the random assumption that things left on the stairs magically cease to be a health and safety risk and get teleported up to his room...

Maybe your ds has been looking on MN sheep [lol]

Laska2Meryls · 11/02/2019 16:22

I cant remember If I ever showed you the 'finished' changes to the faces T (I remember posting that it had dyed it orange instead of bright pink as dye was obviously mis-labelled..) . Anyway I have also shortened and rolled the sleeves and unpicked the hem and allowed that to roll also as it was a bit short.. .here I am wearing it today (sorry, dusty mirror again ) over a l/ t ( not a Hush one and leggings .).

In other news..... nearly everything has gone back !! Having realised that my blue Bay dress from last summer Is pretty much the same colour (and look) as the blue Santana and cami , they have been now returned . I tried to make the Lisel skirt work to go out to a meeting in this morning, and even with boat neck cashmere and tough boots It just felt a bit boring and couldn't make it feel like 'me' (whereas when I gave up and stuck a Black Ivy on instead it instantly felt right.. )
And the shorts and cactus T were being returned anyway .. So in the end all I kept of that whole lot was the green Lucky and the blue slub Tees..

I am not going to try the red Santana/cami , as I already have the paprika, but am still going to go for the black cami I think as it should work with both the Santana skirts I have ..

So it did start off feeling like an exciting haul , but now, sensibility has returned..

I think my leisel might go back as well. I put it on to show DD on skype and she said ‘oh, Von Trapp chic’! Will try it on tomorrow with a tee and see what you all think. The popper trousers are too big and too long, which is disappointing - and they have poppers right up to my knickers. I had expected them to be faux above the knee. I don’t think it’s worth paying to have them altered, will assess properly tomorrow. Haven’t tried the stripe joggers yet - I think it was cod who didn’t like them?

ilovecherries · 11/02/2019 16:55

The Kensington I need to go over with a tooth comb to check for rips, tears and holes.

Laska2Meryls · 11/02/2019 17:00

Von Trapp chic Grin..

Ellapaella · 11/02/2019 17:09

Nice t shirt laska and nice hallway.
Thought I'd share my bargain leopard star jumper I picked up in Tesco yesterday - £18

Laska2Meryls · 11/02/2019 17:19

Hall the other direction so you can see house is pretty open plan , I really need to replace the stair carpet.

Laska2Meryls · 11/02/2019 17:23

Our carpet looks dreadful in that photo.I'm sure its not that bad IRL!! Grin better get it cleaned
Ella that jumper is great , and a lot like the hush leopard star apart from colours obvs..

wearenotacodfish · 11/02/2019 17:24

Cherries it was me with the joggers, they are nice enough but over priced. I got the Liesel too and know exactly what you mean by Von trapp although I am going to try it in a 6. I wonder if it's called Liesel deliberately.

DH has bought me some khaki canvas trainers for Valentine's Day. I do like the stripes but really fancied the colour of these.

Ellapaella · 11/02/2019 17:37

I know laska - I've seen the same style in a few places recently. Quality seems ok - will have to see once washed what it's like.
My stair carpet needs replacing - we have a house full of lovely cream carpet and then got black Labrador- not a cream carpet compatible dog. She leaves a trail of black fur wherever she goes. I'm not sure what neutral colour carpet would ever hide black fur so not sure what to do really.

neveradullmoment99 · 11/02/2019 17:45

I have that tescos jumper and meant to post it a couple of weeks ago but I forgot.I haven't washed it yet but it is nice. I noticed they had more in stock recently. It looks great on you.
All the halls look fab btw!!! Mine is a clutter so not posting a photo!!! @Ella, go for laminate or wood flooring everywhere. My dd has a carpet in her bedroom and is in a sorry state. Never again. I love laminate or wood. So much more hygenic. I will never go back to a carpet. Or maybe only keep it in the bedrooms.

Laska Halo fully intact then :)

never What do you have on the stairs? We are thinking of replacing what little carpet we have (upstairs rooms/ downstairs bedroom/ and study stairs) In Sisal.. we had it in out old house in our loft extension and it was great , but have not tried it for stairs before

neveradullmoment99 · 11/02/2019 18:09

We don't have stairs fortunately @laska. So we have laminate in all the rooms except the bedrooms at the moment. We have ceramic tiles in the kitchen and bathroom. Our flooring also really needs replaced as its 12 years old but it has done well and once cleaned its as good as new but it is getting old.

Laska very nice very bright hallway, that’s what I miss in this house my Dh says our hall is like a cave in winter, as the front of the house is north facing, I tried embracing the dark & previously painted the bottom half a very dark grey, but it just depressed me so hence the much lighter grey it is now, I really like sisal but would it be a bit slippy on the stairs? Currently I have a plain greige carpet on stairs/landing/frontroom, love the orange faces tee seems lots of posters have returned a fair bit so far, I reckon 😇 are being rapidly being restored.

dontcallmelen · 11/02/2019 18:13

Ella jumper looks really good.

Laska2Meryls · 11/02/2019 18:19

Our hallway is quite light, (esp light comes in from the dining room which you cant see in that photo when the sun is shining ,as that faces west north west but I want a velux put in the pitched ceiling above the arch at the plant end (north east end) , as it does get a bit darker there. The front door is around the corner but its wood with only a tiny window in ( that will probably get replaced soon also) .

dontcallmelen · 11/02/2019 18:36

Tis lovely & light Laska a velux sounds like a really good idea the only light in my hall is from the front door which has half stained glass, the colours are beautiful in summer the reds/blues/green reflect in, but on a gloomy winters day zilch.

dontcallmelen · 11/02/2019 18:37

Meant to say the triffid is fab.

NotAnActualSheep · 11/02/2019 20:15

Lol soups Grin Maybe he is stalking me. Though whenever he starts a sentence with "On whatever his current dull computer game of choice is..." I always counter with "On Mumsnet...." as something that will bore him to tears...so he may indeed be learning something...

Laska I love the orange faces tee! That looks great with your "pimping" Grin And your hall looks lovely and light even with the triffid And you are being v sensible with the skirt and Santana combo. In the back of my mind I'm wondering how useful it is going to be buying spring/summer stuff, on the offensive the summer is as nice as last year! Knowing me it'll do the usual British thing of having 3 nice days in March/April while I faff trying to find any suitable clothes, and then pee down solidly for the next 4 months... And I do have a fair bit of stuff that I bought in the sales last summer and hardly wore (cos I was trying to keep cool by wearing a flying squirrel suit most of the time).

Shame about the skirt and trousers cherries. But everyone is definitely polishing Halo by sending stuff back.

That is a lovely jumper Ella - and so similar to the hush one! And a bargain too... I did laugh at your description of your carpet plus dog combo Grin. No idea how to stop that, but I feel your pain. DCat used to sort of squirm on her back in our study (the only room with carpet...and I'm sure she would have done it on the stairs too if she wouldn't have ended up tumbling down them) and there is still cat fur engrained in there that no amount of hoovering with super-suction will shift.

NotAnActualSheep · 11/02/2019 20:17

Offensive = off chance ... Podgy fat fingers...

Laska2Meryls · 12/02/2019 09:43

Shopping the Hush wardrobe today. Wearing the grey puff sleeve sweatshirt dress from last year with Hush leopard leggings..

ilovecherries · 12/02/2019 09:48

Just had my pre-op mammogram (fun). Am I the only person who, having felt completely well beforehand, convinces yourself that any sort of screening will discover something awful. Anyway, it was all good, and so handed over vast amount of money for op to go ahead. Sitting in Costa having restorative coffee, it’s all getting very real.
