Here we go again, and as always say what you like about the clothes but keep it civil re the wearers of said clothes!

Kate reportedly had numerous pairs of the same shoes. She really wasn’t wearing the same pair for years

Oh we know that now. But at the time some members of the public genuinely thought she was wearing the one pair! I remember articles about it and people saying in my work "Honestly she could afford to replace them surely!"

As a piece of PR it was genius. "Frugal Kate" . Who was also rapidly acquiring 100+ coats! 😂

Scandaloso · 01/02/2019 15:20

She does look amazing in that Oscar de la Renta dress it has to be said. Otherwise she seems to be doing that thing where she sees a dress she likes on a 6ft model and doesn't stop to think whether it will swamp her much shorter frame. That blue floral number is particularly unflattering. Way too much material.

itswinetime · 01/02/2019 15:22

I was looking through that website earlier curly it appears to sell vintage coats from a variety of designers I think so the coat could be by anyone. If I have understood it?

If the money is from Charles and not the taxpayers (I assume it comes from The duchy of Cornwall? Or something). Then she can spend what she wants but please can she spend it on stuff that fits! £2,500 is a ridiculous amount to spend but if you are going to spend it then it should be perfect in my opinion!

I agree on the whole oscar de la renta doesn't suit her especially pregnant. Givenchey at least seems to suit her body shape.

As for getting paid to wear clothes if it's true and as pp said it does fit i don't like it it's obviously going to give a huge boost to the companies that can afford to use her while smaller startups ect loose out. Plus Harry inherited from Diana and the queen mum I'm sure they aren't short of money. It's not right! And someone needs to sit her down and explain the potential backlash, but then it's a blind item with no sources so who knows if you can believe it.

two better pics of the dress. I'd have to agree with those who say it doesn't really fit properly.

Harry is not poor - he's not on tech billionaire levels but he's not a 'cash-poor asset-rich' aristo - both brothers inherited a whack of cash from Diana, and Harry inherited from the Queen Mother, too. They also both get an income from the Duchy of Cornwall, rather than being funded by the Royal grant, other than security costs. Kate and Meghan's clothes are only taxpayer funded for overseas tours.

Exactly MissMaisel. I love a blind item as much as the next person, but I’ve been reading them for long enough to realise that SOME might turn out to be true, but an awful lot are completely fictional but nevertheless attract clicks and ad money. Meaghan is flavour of the month for exactly that reason.

Scandaloso · 01/02/2019 15:57

Harry really pushed the boat out.

AdaColeman · 01/02/2019 16:01

I liked Camilla's outfit for last night, lovely colour and texture of the dress.

I'm not keen on Meghan's animal print dress today, it looks like curtain fabric!

Haworthia · 01/02/2019 16:02

Sorry, misspelled Meghan there Smile

MrsGrindah · 01/02/2019 16:02

I get all shouty when people say it’s Charles money not taxpayers money....sorry, who does he work for?! It’s a different pot maybe but it’s certainly not hard earned cash from a job he had to apply for.

itswinetime · 01/02/2019 16:07

Do Charles estates not make money in their own right? The duchy of Cornwall must all the products it sells?? But I guess there is also taxpayers money going in to and I doubt it's clearly divided it's all confusing really.

ajandjjmum · 01/02/2019 16:08

It's a totally different pot MrsGrindah - it no more wrong than a successful business person's DC having access to their money. I know that's not the point of this thread though.......

ajandjjmum · 01/02/2019 16:09

The Duchy of Cornwall makes a profit, and pays taxes on that profit.

user1457017537 · 01/02/2019 16:13

I was more aghast at the tiny tots waiting to receive her clutching their flags and waving in the freezing cold. They looked as if they were from a nursery. I would be spitting teeth if it was my babies waiting in the freezing cold.

TyraAllen · 01/02/2019 16:16

It's a different pot in the sense that it doesn't have anything to do with being publicly funded, yes. It's investment income, rents from farming and commercial properties. He manages it, with advice from a board, so it is similar to running a company, although there are restrictions on what he can do - he can't sell any of the assets for income, he can only use the revenue they generate, and this is taxed (voluntarily).

Duchy Originals funds the Prince's charity. Given that he set that up himself, that could have been used as additional income, but isn't.

I suppose you could see it as running a family business - he works for himself, not for an employer.

MrsGrindah · 01/02/2019 16:18

Whilst I think Kate can play safe sometimes she never looks out of place re season or event.I think Meghan is still finding her feet in that respect. She definitely needs to be more cost conscious and lets face it Kate is hardly knitting her own socks either

MrsGrindah · 01/02/2019 16:22

Yeah did he have to take out a bank loan or second mortgage to start this business though? I’m not having a go at him just saying it’s misleading to think he’s a wealthy man due to hard graft

VanillaSugarr · 01/02/2019 16:22

The problem with the Duchy is Cornwall is that they have the local reputation of being bad landlords, ie they take the rent money but don’t do the repair work. Anyone who dies intestate immediately has the assets hoovered up by the Duchy.

If MM is promoting S/S 19, then will she be wearing cashmere and padded gilets in August? Grin

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/02/2019 16:22

I would be spitting teeth if it was my babies waiting in the freezing cold.

They were from a local nursery @user1457017537 but their parents would've given permission for them to be there.

I liked Meghan's look today but blimey, £2000 for that dress! I assume she isn't wearing maternity dresses because this way she can rewear her clothes post-pregnancy. Her hair looked lovely today. Maybe she had a bad hair day yesterday and decided on the ballerina bun!

Clionba · 01/02/2019 16:28

So her boots were lower than normal, but still looked high to me, she was on cobbles and it was snowing. When she squatted right down to talk to the child, I felt very nervous. All that yoga has clearly paid off.
I'm not a fan of today's dress, the massive pattern and strange shape. Her hair was lovely, though.

frogintheTyne · 01/02/2019 16:32

I like the pinafore the woman in the boots is wearing - standing next to Meghan in the photo.

I couldn't afford Meghan's dress, but I could probably afford the pinafore ( unless it's Toast) - anyone know where I could get something like it - apart from Toast, that is...?!

Topshop have something similar-ish
