Here we go again, and as always say what you like about the clothes but keep it civil re the wearers of said clothes!

I love the cut of that Jenny Packman but it's not my favourite colour on her.

Bloominglovely · 31/01/2019 22:31

Kate has amazing legs. Everything about that blue dress is fantastic on her. It made her look so young and gorgeous.

mikado1 · 31/01/2019 22:38

No to the top knot on Meg. Yes to the white and short turquoise on Kate.

itswinetime · 31/01/2019 23:08

So we have had some great gown suggestions for Kate anyone want to weigh in on the school visit. I'd love for it to be trousers and a jumper but I think more likely it will be something more formal my choices would be these.

I like the skirt jumper combo as it seems more fitting to the occasion but I think the blue dress is stunning on her

A friend of mine was involved in the royal visit to Dundee a couple of days ago (working).
She says that William and Kate were not only very polite and pleasant but came across as very warm too.

Quantumblue · 31/01/2019 23:33

Hope someone restrains Kate from dressing either as a schoolchild or as a teacher on a school visit.
Was disappointed Meghan stayed only half an hour at the theatre meeting. Would have thought she was well placed to have some real and meaningful discussion s with people about what they want in a patron.

itswinetime · 31/01/2019 23:50

I do wonder if Megan's short visits over multiple days are about getting her quota up for when the hardest working royal is announced next year (spoiler alert it will be anne). Her visits are short enough and close enough you could fit multiple visits on one day but she hasn't as its days worked not visits undertaken. I get it she doesn't want the flack after Mat leave but I would prefer honesty she's not going to be high up this year and that's ok she's having a baby it is expected.

Bloominglovely · 01/02/2019 01:02

I liked the camel shoes with the black on Meghan. Black shoes would have looked too heavy. Colour shoes would have looked garish with black. I think the camel colour looked lovely.

I think the difference in MM's hair was the centre parting on the awards night. It made her hairline look more defined.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/02/2019 02:01

Did Meghan really only stay half an hour?
This is a bit of a recurring theme.
However, how long do other Royals stay for visits?

itswinetime · 01/02/2019 02:20

I can't speak for all royals but I do know someone who organised an event William attended. First it's incredibly difficult to pin a date down the powers that be will only agree to things 3 months in advance. Which when makes things hard. 2). The place give a specific time for the event. William was allocated 2 hrs at this one. That was decided by the palace not the charity. At this specific event William choose to stay longer as he hadn't made it round all the attendees (who were charity beneficiaries no donators it wasn't that kind of event). It meant a lot to those involved that he did stay but in fairness he didn't have to they did know in advance the length of time that was allocated.

I believe the palace determines the time spent at events and there is a set time. But from what my friend experienced it is very difficult to organise royal involvement and given that it was close to home for Meghan. And that to our knowledge she did nothing else in that day 30 mins is very short I think. It may be standard for that kind of event though I don't think there is a set time.

I'm sure the charity appreciate it and maybe there is a reason we are unaware of but to me 30 mins is very short.

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 01/02/2019 06:20

I agree blooming, I thought the camel shoe worked well.

I would love to swish around with my coat as a cape. Mandy Moore looks good upthread. Sadly my winter coat is more duvet than distinguished, so I'd look a fool.

VanillaSugarr · 01/02/2019 06:42

I read that as camel toe ShockBlush.

I have a formal day time school event coming up in a couple of weeks so I will try the coat-as-cape look and see what happens.

When was the Jenny Packham dress photo taken? Is it my imagination or has Kate scaled back her spray tans these days?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/02/2019 06:54

I think before her children went to school, Kate had a bit more time for sunny holidays.
They often went to mustique with her parents around this time of year.
I’m convinced Meghan & Harry slipped off to California after Christmas to see doria.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/02/2019 06:56

Mathilde did the coat / cape drape
Maybe it’s a Queen thing.
Round my way, my duvet coat is fully zipped up.

VanillaSugarr · 01/02/2019 06:59

I first saw this look on Baronness Caroline Fleming on Ladies Of London (Bravo TV show) so that was filmed at least 3 years ago. I don’t think it will ever be a mainstream mum-on -the-run look Grin

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 01/02/2019 07:06

Betterlook at Meghan’s ensemble yesterday and some other pregnancy outfits.

She wore a black silk Givenchy skirt and a black jumper ( not sure by whom). She is building up quite the Givenchy wardrobe.

Apart from her wedding dress, it was quite few & far between that Kate started wearing designer outfits. It was more high end high street like reiss, Hobbs, Lk Bennett. Meghan May wear the odd high street dress, but it is always topped off by a coat which costs £££s

beanaseireann · 01/02/2019 07:42

Fair play to the woman in a white dress accompanying Meghan. Her dress has half sleeves. I'm not sure if she has tights on either.
Wasn't it freezing in London yesterday ???

I liked the camel shoes with the black and thought the ensemble was lovely.
I don't like the top knot bun on her but her hair might be misbehaving during pregnancy as she may not be getting it straightened because of chemicals.
Wasn't wearing your hair scraped back like that known as the "Croydon facelift" ?

ElspethFlashman · 01/02/2019 07:59

Half an hour?

Half a bloody hour??!

Waste of hairspray.

Notmyrealname85 · 01/02/2019 08:09

love Max, pure style and lots of personality - love it even more when she goes a bit colourful :)

Not keen on half hour visits :( suppose better to visit than not at all, but surely could spend an hour somewhere (and have a break part way)

WhitherShallIWander · 01/02/2019 08:26

Half an hour- not very impressive. Doesn’t seem worth it. Make it an hour at least.

CreakyBlinder · 01/02/2019 08:38

I think that William could certainly have hung around longer than planned, but imagine the drama if Meghan had done the same? She'd be a diva, there would be leaks and whispers about how she hasn't learned the ropes, etc.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/02/2019 08:41

H&M are going to Bristol later. If she forgoes tights on a snowy day like today then we'll know she's superhuman!

I'm off to Chelsea this morning so will keep an eye out for Kate on the Kings Road...

Re the half hour for Meghan's NT visit, Rebecca English posted a video of her arriving and then half an hour later, one of her departing. I assumed she was posting as it happened but I wouldn't put it past the Mail to wait an hour before posting her arrival!

Re half hour visits, i guess it depends on the purpose. If its just to raise publicity for them (both), 30 mins still does the job. If it's to actually discuss anything or chat to many people then surely it's not enough.
