Here we go again, and as always say what you like about the clothes but keep it civil re the wearers of said clothes!

..... although my choices look common compared to Tatler’s posh baby names

I quite like Xanthe.
But there are also Innsbruck and Ra for boys and Gethsemane and Hum for girls,

Paradyning · 29/01/2019 06:02

I think John is considered an unlucky name in the RF so is generally avoided, as god forbid they are linked to a child with SN Hmm

Wetdogloveshubert · 29/01/2019 07:05

Queenie is on Tatlers posh list Grin Shock

WhitherShallIWander · 29/01/2019 07:14

Some of those Tatler names. Why just why?

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/01/2019 07:21

Tatler has got to be taking the piss! Some of those names would be frowned upon by MN on account of "yooneek" spelling (Czar-Czar or Npeter anyone?) and others, like Victory or Gethsemane scream African evangelical church!

I like the way "Wendy" and "Kenneth" are snuck in there!

Poor policemen standing outside the V&A this morning in the horizontal sleet 🥶

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 08:57

To be honest, posh people have such random nicknames, that they’d barely raise an eyebrow at outlandish first names.

I wonder if anywhere actually used?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 09:01

Have you seen the #HelloToKindness campaign?

Lots of rivalry online between Kate & Meghan fans

VanillaSugarr · 29/01/2019 09:01

Tatler is now aimed at the nouveau riche and Russian oligarchs. It’s no longer the go-to mag for social climbers.

Prince Charles visits bespoke shoe maker in Northamptonshire

Bloominglovely · 29/01/2019 10:33

I’ve often wondered if Kate goes shopping for herself?

I know we have seen photographs of her pushing a trolley before she married and buying a tablecloth for the nursery but if she went into clothes shops surely someone somewhere would have caught a glimpse of her entering or leaving one.

I imagine the designers bring a selection of clothes to her. But the less formal clothes? The LK Bennett shoes? Does her stylist go shopping? Does she order everything online? Does her dressmaker sit with her and tell her what she can customise easily?

I always thought (due to the type of clothes she wears) Kate might not care do much about clothes but someone on a previous thread made a very good point about Kate caring very much as evidenced by her hair/Botox etc.

So.......do we think she goes off to Me&Em? Why has she never been papped?

ajandjjmum · 29/01/2019 10:36

In the early years of her relationship with William, I'm sure I read that she was seen frequently at Bicester Village. I suppose that's all changed now though - be horrible, not being able to go out for a browse.

Bloominglovely · 29/01/2019 10:49

Yes pre engagement she shopped but in the last five years?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 11:10

Kate used to shop at a Peter Jones in Sloane Square a lot.
I think it would be normal to shop online and then return what she didn’t need.
If it’s bespoke; McQueen or Jenny Packham she could discreetly go to the atelier or surely they would come to her for fittings.

Wetdogloveshubert · 29/01/2019 11:12

Lots of snippets seem to suggest her PPO ask the public not to take pictures, and probably spot those who have and ask them to delete. If she shops on the high street I guess she'd do it at quiet times and on the more discreet high streets.

Love the shoemakers pictures. It's great to see the old ways continuing.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 11:23

I reckon she goes to the Duke of York’s Square
It’s just off the top of the Kings road and not hugely busy. She would be able to be dropped off easily as it’s all open, so she’s not stuck inside a shopping centre.

Scandaloso · 29/01/2019 11:32

'I think John is considered an unlucky name in the RF so is generally avoided, as god forbid they are linked to a child with SN hmm'

Maybe they're encouraged not to use the name as it will draw attention to how that poor child was locked away in the country with a nanny and more or less ignored.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 12:11

I read a biography about Queen Mary.
Prince John lived with retainers who loved him and visited his mother very regularly.
In comparison his siblings were raised by horrible nannies who pinched them and had to follow the rules of a very strict George V.
I know the RF don’t have a great rep re: sn relatives, but in Edwardian England, even the “normal” children were raised austerely.

Twisique · 29/01/2019 12:32

King John wasn't hugely popular either.

Neither was King Charles that hasn't stopped them Wink

Here is Letizia out and about today. I like the jump suit but not sure on the coat it doesn't go with the outfit a rare miss for me.

Another Dundonian delurking. Drove past the V&A last night and the poor police were already standing about in the bitter cold. Wonder if it's the same shift the creakyblinder saw this morning. Would have loved to take the day off and go and gaze at William and Kates outfits but DH would think I'd finally lost the plot. I believe they are at the Michelin factory this morning and the V&A this afternoon. Very cold and icy slush here this morning so wonder if Kate will be in 4 inch heels!

CreakyBlinder · 29/01/2019 13:01

Rubbish pic alert! W&K meet two very small Dundonians Grin
