Here we go again, and as always say what you like about the clothes but keep it civil re the wearers of said clothes!

Tartan. Snooze.

It's like going to Ireland draped in a tricolour, or dressed as a bloody leprechaun. Hmm

Well done CurlyWurlyTwirly and paradyning - the tartan McQueen coat dress is making another appearance! New green bag, by the looks of it though.

Picture courtesy of James Whatling on twitter.

Better pic. Will stop spamming you all now!

Those Leti pics are funny. The guy jn green looks seriously unimpressed!

beanaseireann · 29/01/2019 13:09

I do love Prince Of York Square.
On a summers day sitting outside one of the cafes watching the world go by after I've done a quick recce down the Kings Road and into Peter Jones and The White Company near Sloane Square.

Gooseysgirl · 29/01/2019 13:09

Boring and predictable... not keen, although the green handbag just about saves it. Cmon Kate, live a little!!

Paradyning · 29/01/2019 13:10

Bloody hell she's so predictable.

In 20 years in Scotland the only tartan I saw anyone wear was wedding or the high street pipers.

CreakyBlinder · 29/01/2019 13:11

I'm finding it borderline offensive. Off to Scotland, someone fetch my tartan! FFS.

Paradyning · 29/01/2019 13:11

It is kind of offensive. What next? A flat cap in Yorkshire?

CreakyBlinder · 29/01/2019 13:14

I'm also a little bit Hmm about them going to the Michelin factory 'to hear first hand about how the factory closure will affect them'.

As if they could have the first clue about how it feels to be made redundant with no other manufacturing jobs available in the region.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/01/2019 13:16

I like the green handbag but other than that am lukewarm on her ensemble. The literal dressing is getting a bit silly now!

itswinetime · 29/01/2019 13:25

The handbag is nice but I agree we don't need to see tartan to know your in Scotland! Its a bit much and totally predictable!

I would love Kate to have a bit of a fashion freshen up. Like today with the weather as people have described would have been the perfect day for trousers, jumper, jacket ensemble and not a drop of tartan in sight! You don't have to wear a dress all the time and it's not the rule you must wear tartan in Scotland if your reading Kate.

desertgirl · 29/01/2019 13:26

Kate wearing normal clothes in tartan doesn’t seem to me as OTT as Charles wearing a kilt everywhere in Scotland. It’s not exactly normal everyday attire

(Well I did have one teacher (in Perth, in the dark ages) who wore a kilt every day but that doesn’t really make it normal)

CreakyBlinder · 29/01/2019 13:28

It's pretty close to being a costume.

She could (SHOULD) have worn trousers, she's next to the water, it's sleeting and windy. Going about like she's on the front of a bloody shortbread tin is just embarrassing.

This has made me quite unreasonably cross!

JudgeRindersMinder · 29/01/2019 13:29

Pah I was getting all excited to post this pic as the Cambridge’s are in my city today-I should have known better! However it’s a nice closeup of them. Kate’s not wearing any old tartan, the Black Watch tartan is very local to this area

mrscampbellblackreturns · 29/01/2019 13:34

I think she looks lovely. I also think she is just not that bothered about clothes. So, this ticks all her boxes and it is a re-wear so getting her money's worth.

Kate definitely has her work uniform and sticks to it.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/01/2019 13:36

Did they do a walkabout or did they head straight into the museum? If the former then neither of them are dressed for today's weather. Hope they've got their thermals on underneath!

#HelloToKindness ladies.

She looks smart and I’m sorry if the Dundonians are offended.
I sometimes see westerners in saris, sometimes I’m a bit Hmm but I don’t feel insulted or think cultural appropriation. I just think bless them for trying.

QueenOfTheAndals · 29/01/2019 13:52

See now I was glad she didn't decide to wear a sari when they were in India as I would've found that a bit too literal!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 13:53

To the Scots on the thread, is this an actual tartan or just a jaunty check?

Royal style & gossip: who's got the best gownage and crownage?
CreakyBlinder · 29/01/2019 13:54

I don't think cultural appropriation (actually think the concept is bullshit in the main) but it's just so...tired. And cliched. It's like going to London and talking cockney, or taking a whippet on a visit to Yorkshire. The stereotyping is just silly, and unimaginative.

CreakyBlinder · 29/01/2019 13:55

I dunno Curly but I really liked that tartan skirt. She chose that just because she liked it, that's the difference. Not a box-ticking 'better put this on to please the locals' choice.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 13:56

Yes but she used sari fabric to make some outfits and was praised for it.
I think she hits the right note.
It’s normal for the RF to reference their hosts when travelling overseas. ( not that I’m saying Scotland is abroad!)

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 29/01/2019 14:00

@creakyblinder.
Genuine question.
What do you think of Prince Charles wearing a kilt all the time he is in Scotland? Respectful or taking the piss?
