this

I think the print is nice in the skirt cause of the pleats.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/02/2019 11:12

I sized down to a 10 in it as I don't like bulk. Its fine.

SoyYo · 06/02/2019 11:15

Really great never if I hadn’t spent so much and now committed to Frugal February I’d order it...I don’t own a pleated skirt yet and agree with elasticated waist skirts I also size down to a 10 to avoid bulk and that works best with Hush (I’m not a 10 by any stretch of the imagination btw)

justilou1 · 06/02/2019 11:21

@soy, the Devorre’s all class. Nobody would ever look for a poodle perm or hidden menthols down your bra in that one, never fear! I am planning a fake fur for the eight minutes of winter that we get here. I have been eyeing a Mango one that I’m hoping my friend will post me, but I can’t find any reviews!!! (The Whistles Cocoon coat has never been re-stocked anywhere, and I liked that even more!)

SoyYo · 06/02/2019 11:39

@justi this is my fur leopard coat which is now ooo in most sizes, it is lovely but I always find an excuse not to wear Sad
m.boden.co.uk/en-gb/clearance/womens-view-all/coats-jackets/t0202-tan/womens-leopard-faux-fur-boxgrove-faux-fur-coat

On top I have naturally curly hair (not poodle style though, mostly ringlets) but I’ve just turned 57 and I fear it’s an ageing look that would look fabulous on someone 20 years younger...I may have to sell it on even though I love it if it’s just going to go unworn because I’m not brave enough it’s a waste.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/02/2019 12:05

I have that leopard print jacket too @soyo and I love it. I have worn it a couple of times. I have worn it mostly casually. I am 51. I think you should keep it @soyo. I thought it looked lovely on you. I think it looks best worn with black skinny jeans and black ankle boots and a lovely black jumper. Everything black but the statement being the coat. Next cold day you should wear it.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/02/2019 12:06

If you are worried about your hair [which I don't think you should be] wear it clipped up?

neveradullmoment99 · 06/02/2019 12:07

Oh and btw, I saw a pensioner wearing one. She looked fab!!!

justilou1 · 06/02/2019 12:19

@soy... I think you need to take that pretty kitty on an adventure before you sell her. Maybe with some far sunglasses, some red lipstick and a mysterious smile to see where your day takes you. I bet you would have the best chats with strangers.
Meanwhile, guess what just happened to be re-stocked and very much reduced at Whistles and is going to be winging it’s way over the equator? I’m far too short (and blonde and old) to be soigné like the luvvie in the photo, and I know it will swamp me, but I can be my own teddy bear in that thing. My husband is threatening to force me to go camping this year. I may just wear it in protest. (With the lipstick, of course!)

SoyYo · 06/02/2019 12:24

Thank you never like you I’ve only worn a couple of times and black jeans/jumper/flat boots letting it be the statement...I do really like it.
Like you I don’t like showing my face often as this is a public thread and a bit paranoid but here is a pic of my hair taken yesterday it’s very curly and i do my best to keep it “tamed” but it’s too curly to style meaningfully if you see what I mean...I just get it trimmed by a specialist curly hairdresser every 4 months (due for next trim in 3 weeks) and follow the curly girl method to keep my frizz under control

SoyYo · 06/02/2019 12:30

Ooh justi very pleased your new “precious” is on its way to down under Smile
You’re all right of course I’m not doing badly for my age and everything works! Wink I should stop this ageist nonsense immediately!

SoyYo · 06/02/2019 12:37

Which reminds me is it your birthday soon @cherries? I recall we’re quite close in the Feb dates?
If so belated or advance Happy Birthday Wishes to you! 🎂

justilou1 · 06/02/2019 12:44

@soy, your hair is magnificent, and I am very jealous. Mine is so fine that when it is cut, it is more like cat hair than human hair. The sort that stays up due to static electricity when you remove a hat, and resembles a toddler’s palm tree if you try and put it in a ponytail. Fortunately, there’s a fair bit of it, as it’s useless and won’t be told what to do.

SoyYo · 06/02/2019 12:51

Thank You @justi mine is equally untameable and unpredictable: one day it can be all glossy ringlets and the next wicked witch of the east doesn’t begin to describe it! Brushes are my enemy and lots of moisture/sulfate free shampoos my friends. I think the key is finding a decent hairdresser who can work with what nature has given us rather than against it if that makes sense?
I used to have it chemically straightened when I was young till I burnt it to a crisp and gave up and have allowed it to do its own crazy thing since my early twenties.
I hope you find a good hairdresser as a good cut makes all the difference even with the craziest hair...

NotAnActualSheep · 06/02/2019 13:17

lol justilou - I have the fine, static hair too! (I just don't take hats off, once on...unless in easy range of a hairbrush and mirror). Though not lots of it at all...definitely thinning with age too Shock Hmm I can never have it in a pony tail when it grows cos it ends up the thickness of my little finger and looks disastrous. To have gorgeous, thick, curly hair like soy is my dream - even though I know it is the bane of her life, and a nightmare to care for!! See, as usual, we are never happy with what we have!!

I also choked on my coffee at leopard being the preserve of people who never let death metal die Grin. Or Teresa May, presumably! (Two very distinct sub-groups, i'm sure..). But I'm so glad you have the whistles coat winging its way to you! I would use it as an excuse not to go camping. That is my absolute nightmare.. And DH and DS won't let me forget it...

Soy you absolutely must wear your coat. I remember you getting it, and you looked amazing in it. I understand the "glam" factor - but as never says, if you tone everything else down, it won't look too much at all. I see a few around and no-one looks at all out of place or like they are trying too hard!

never - love that skirt on you - I do like a pleated skirt - and that is a real bargain. I was a bit suspicious of how the pattern would look in real life especially as someone pointed out the similarity to the old WH Smith's logo Grin but it actually looks really nice and not in-yer-face at all. Grrr to Frugal Feb already (how do you cope, len - I'm feeling like I'm going through cold turkey!)

laska - what a pain about the friends discount. I'm not trying, to see if I still have mine, cos my finger might slip... But if you've got some free PJs, surely that has to make up for it?!

I had a bizarre "freebie" the other week too...I ordered a handbag from the fossil sale, and two boxes were delivered, both addressed to me. I took them both, as I thought they may have packed the strap separately or something Blush I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to buying handbags and one had the bag, and the other one had two sets of sort of jewellery tray things... They are rather nice, and about £30 each even in the sale. But the packing note for those was for some random address in France! I had a very confused discussion with customer services to ask what i should do with them, and we exchanged a few emails - and I'm still waiting for them to get back to me. Tempted to not follow up - though ideally I'd like them to get back to me and just tell me to keep them so my Halo can remain intact...I'm just feeling a bit sorry for the chap in France who must be wondering what on earth has happened.

ilovecherries · 06/02/2019 13:18

Just quickly dropping in, will read properly this evening. Have sent the Chesters back as I think the upper is definitely separating from the trim. I should probably be embarrassed but I went to PO in Morgan zebra joggers and an oversized black polo neck. I just need comfort dressing today. My birthday has been and gone soy. Love your sale purchases as well, especially the skirt.

soups, love you in the red dress. I tried that Boden one as well, but just didn’t work with a chest.

And soy you looked fantastic in that coat. Chin up, boobs forward, and rock it :)

@cherries - sorry we missed you birthday. You must loathe having it in the festive season!!! I hope it was lovely anyway, and you were surrounded by those you love the most, and spoiled silly!!!
@sheep - camping is truly awful. If I am forced to go, I intend to moan the entire time I’m there. Then they’ll never make me return. That’ll learn ‘em! (Also DH and DS equally mortified by me wearing leopard. They think I should act my age sometime soon. I’ll be 47 in July. Nobody acts 47!)
Off to bed.... I’m supposed to do a million assignments in the morning! Have a great day, ladies! X

Has anyone bought this yet ? I'm wondering about sizIng .

neveradullmoment99 · 06/02/2019 14:26

Fabulous hair @soyo. I know someone that has similar hair and it always looks amazing! Beautiful curls. Sure she does the curly girl method as hers are like yours, very shiny.
I have inbetween curly and straight hair. It never knows what to do, which I think brings its own difficulties.
Anway, hendricksy, not sure anyone has ordered that much but that dress does look lovely. Not sure that I would have the lifestyle for it but may succumb to the skirt.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/02/2019 14:27

You should not be embarrassed cherries. I think your outfit sounds great.

hendricksy · 06/02/2019 14:33

I plan to just wear it with flat tan sandals in the spring / summer . It was so hot last gear I need to plan and I get 25% off from John Lewis so fancied treating myself 🤗

neveradullmoment99 · 06/02/2019 14:44

Well with 25% off, its not a bad price. I think that it will probably sell out too once the warmer weather comes in and people are planning their holidays.

SoyYo · 06/02/2019 15:32

Thanks again for the compliments girls I have friends who love my curls and yet I sometimes still long for straight locks...when I was little I used to wonder around with a towel on my head and pretend I had long swishy straight hair Grin
cherries well happy birthday to us both! As laska rightly said earlier in this thread we must stop the ageist nonsense and be happy and grateful for all our blessings and health...with each passing birthday I’m more and more aware of that Flowers and your P.O. outfit sounds really good actually.
@hendricks with that fab discount definitely worth a try! It is a lovely print dress.
@miffy before I forget to comment love the dresses you linked a couple of pages back and your SA holiday sounds wonderful. I visited SA many many years ago for a 6 week summer break while still in my teens, a treat for my 16th birthday from my grandparents. I remember celebrating it at the Kruger safari place but also it was very strange as it was still in apartheid days and even though I was very young at the time I do remember feeling so uneasy about it...it was awful all the segregation and I remember being shocked. Luckily those days are now over. It is a beautiful country

Ellapaella · 06/02/2019 17:04

Think my cords will go back..
Have had a try on and really not sure what I'd wear with them.. any ideas?
Not sure they are really 'me' although they are super comfy and I love them, I'm just not quite sure how to wear them. They remind me a bit of my Dad! He likes to wear dark green cords, usually with a fleece and walking boots Grin Not sure his look is really my look. But they are nice and maybe with the right things could look quite good?
Honest thoughts most welcome.
