Completely missed the ball with the previous thread so hope this thread is easy enough to find!

I think you're right ahoy - Kate's coat dresses might be regarded as boring by many (though I love her style), but I think she has been really savvy in simplifying her work clothes - as we've discussed on previous threads, it's almost like a work uniform.

drowningincustard · 15/01/2019 09:22

I really liked Megans look - bright bold colours and I think the bag was the best option as I'mentioned not a fan of matchy matchy.
Best thing was her smile...
Bump touching doesn't bother me in the slightest - more human than sticking to some unwritten protocols and just be yourself.

Spudlet · 15/01/2019 09:36

I like the bun. And as to the bump touching - watch the footage of the Royals arriving at Westminster Abbey for the Remembrance Day service in the evening. There is a barrage of shutters and flashes as they walk in, a constant stream of photos being taken. You could probably link them all together to make a stop motion film of them walking in! So the Mail will have had hundreds and hundreds of photos to choose from, but they picked the ones where she touches her bump. Selective editing, if you ask me.

Working at home today and have the telly on in the background. Have just noticed there’s a fashion item on the Lorraine Kelly show about headbands making a comeback! Apparently Prada had every model wearing them at their recent catwalk show.

AhoyDelBoy · 15/01/2019 09:42

Stunning portrait photo of HMQ

AhoyDelBoy · 15/01/2019 09:44

Yes, MotherofPearl, exactly! One clothing item, simple. I guess Meghan can’t do that though because she’d be ‘copying’ the DoC.

iloveredwine · 15/01/2019 09:52

one of the purple dress

Zephbloggs · 15/01/2019 09:58

I love Meghan's messy buns. As someone with curly hair my hair never looks smooth or sleek, and it is refreshing to see her without sculpted precise hair.
And they are hardly exactly messy anyway Wink

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2019 10:00

Good point @Spudlet. Getty Images have dozens of photos where she's NOT holding her bump but the Mail have chosen all the ones where she is!

Kate is allotment-visiting today so I'm guessing lots of olive green, brown boots, skinny jeans and a Barbour-type coat.

News just in is that she's also going to help design the RHS garden at this year's Chelsea Flower Show. Not sure when that is - April?

Yes; Kate will be looking very countrified. (Penelope Chilvers boots?) Looks quite interesting; winter planting and they have an outdoor pizza oven

I think she is taking a bit of a lead from Michelle Obama’s First Lady Style, child welfare; healthy eating.
Meghan is championing girls in education.
Slightly digressing; but I think Michelle Obama was an awesome; exemplary First Lady.

Notmyrealname85 · 15/01/2019 11:04

This is awful but I’m so bored of the expense of her clothes :( it’s not relatable at all - we can’t go out and get this stuff, so it doesn’t even feel aspirational. Who is Meghan’s stylist, is it still her Canadian friend? Maybe she needs someone from the UK. I’m sorry, I’m just bored of it :( It actually also doesn’t feel stylish - you should be able to get something from M&S, have it tailored, and look amazing. Or have fun accessories. It’s just not working for me :(

hopeishere · 15/01/2019 11:14

But that's not her role. She not there to be a fashion influencer. Anyway you could probably replicate that look if you wanted to but for a lot less.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2019 11:19

I was spot-on with my Kate predictions - olive green from head to toe!

I really like that look on Kate. If I had the budget and lost a few pounds it’s what I would choose. Love the boots!

AhoyDelBoy · 15/01/2019 11:32

Love Kate’s outfit!

Housewife2010 · 15/01/2019 11:36

She looks like she's wearing leggings which are far too skimpy for an official engagement. I think that less clingy trousers would be more fitting for the occasion.

QueenOfTheAndals · 15/01/2019 11:41

She loves her skinny jeans though. The day the two Kate Ms (Moss is the other) start wearing flares or bootcuts will be the day we know skinnies are well and truly over!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 15/01/2019 11:58

Kate’s jeans are very -ahem - sculpted but she has a great figure.
Isn’t that the jacket she was wearing at the Range when she was Xmas shopping?
I like her new outdoorsy boots. The long ones were looking very “loved”

7salmonswimming · 15/01/2019 12:03

I’m more convinced than ever that she has regular fillers. Maybe for her birthday Wink

Ktay · 15/01/2019 12:14

Think Chelsea Flower Show is May? The last one certainly was (DSIL had to miss watching H&M’s wedding to get a garden ready!)

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 15/01/2019 12:18

Love the boots and jeans. Looks like a lovely colour polo neck jumper under her coat too. Rust?

Coat - it's not a style I like personally, and I think it's too much of the same colour worn with the jeans.

Elledorado · 15/01/2019 12:18

Love love love Kate's outfits generally (not the coat dresses, cannot stand these, they are the most anti-fashion item I can think of! Grin) and I hope she does get fillers, botox etc if she wants after reading all the nasty things about her perfectly beautiful face in her 37th bday pics.

Also love Meghan's outfits! Totally my style.

However ... I thought the comments re the bump holding were ridiculous UNTIL I started looking at pics of her on different websites and thought, my, it does look a bit contrived though doesnt it!? Hate to say that because I generally think, do whatever the fuck makes you happy, but honestly did make me cringe a bit after a while. I've had three children and cant imagine "cupping" the bloody bump that much! Touching definitely as reassurance, but it's the holding it underneath thing that is NQR ... am I wrong?

Spudlet · 15/01/2019 12:30

Casual Kate is basically me on most days, but with a vastly higher budget, and no mudstains from hoiking a filthy balance bike around or being leaped at by a spaniel. I like Casual Kate. She makes me feel better about my attire! Grin
