Well quite, @ElspethFlashman. I've heard tell of photos showing smoking, her being drunk (and not pre-royalty) and hair extensions etc etc. The only ones I believe are the topless ones and that's only because we know that's true - and despicable- and I'm glad those aren't touted about.

I've been reading about Queen Alexandra, sparked by an earlier post on the thread.
She would definitely have been a Mumsnetter! Apparently all six of her children were born prematurely, her biographer believes this was because she deliberately gave her MIL, Queen Victoria, false information, so that Victoria was not involved in the births.

Alexandra was a style leader, for instance setting the fashion for high choker necklaces which she first wore to hide a scar on her throat. Later, after a serious illness, she developed a limp, and it became a trend for society ladies to assume a limp in honour of her.

If you Google there are photos of Kate with fag in hand or a packet of cigarettes in her handbag but they all date from before her engagement to William.

Actually no, I'm not sure that is her with fag in hand, but that's definitely her with the smokes in her bag!

Anne looks amazing in that pic great find! Is the picture of Kate genuine though seems to perfect a shot l plates cigarette and booze surprised it isn't more famous.

I thought it was well known that Kate, Harry and William smoked?

Of course once she became an official member of the RF she was more careful to be discreet. It’s posdible that she didn’t resume smoking after her first pregnancy. A lot of women don’t revert to smoking after giving them up for forty weeks. Harry quit as Meghan didn’t like them supposedly which is fair enough. I once dated someone who couldn’t stand them. At the time I smiled a lot. In hindsight I feel bad for him having put up with my smelly breath and clothes.

There was a photo of DofC when they spilt up, her falling out of a taxi having a good time. Well not falling out, but looking jolly. Her bag was open and you could see a pack of fags inside .

Also the awful French topless pap shots, showed her smoking and topless.

Anne looks just stunning. I have seen pictures taken around that time, but not that particular one.

Surely the Kate one is a fake.

@ElspethFlashman so we have ascertained that Katherine smokes/smoked, I suppose she doesn’t have veneers either!

Princess Caroline is extraordinarily beautiful. Though you can see the impact on her and her sister of a lifetime smoking and tanning.

Oh dear... my grandma comprehensively put my then teenaged mother pff smoking by informing that she looked like a pig with a straw stuck up its fundament - a turn of phrase that has entered family legend, as you can imagine! It's an image that is v hard to shake and is all I can see when I look at smokers I'm afraid. Putting a tiara on top of that does not a good look make.

I don’t smoke but I think smoking looks badass, especially in those black and white movies. It’s a personal choice and I don’t judge anyone who takes it up.

I love that picture of Margrethe and Henrik. And as a disgusting smoker myself, could I love Max any more?

Caroline has always been beautiful. After Stephano died she had her hair cut off into a chin length bob and I remember a spread in Hello of her at an evening do, so it must have been a while afterwards, and she just looked so sad. One picture in particular stood out, she looked like she'd rested her head against a pillar or something and closed her eyes.....she was so beautiful but so haunted all at the same time.

Apparently the DOS was out for lunch with a new assistant of communications on Friday in Primrose Hill! She was wearing ripped jeans with high heels and bare feet.

Kate is visiting Family Action in Lewisham today. I think we’ll see a smart coat and high street dress, probably new as she gets plaudits forbwearing inexpensive.

I’ve noticed Kate tends to wear designer if she is visiting and institution, like a museum.
Out doors, definitely her outdoor gear.
If it’s people, she will wear a relatively i expensive dress in a muted colour navy / wine / dark green with a conservative print, eg polka dot.

So using these criteria, I think she tends to go for high end high street; usually LK Bennet or Hobbs. Other options which I have seen in a while or not at all are Reiss or Whistles.

Kate likesa conservative dress with below the knee and high neck so there are no upskirt or down cleavage shots. Also tends to wear silk.

So I’ve had a quick look online and they all seem to be lots of black; which she only tends to wear in the evening and party dresses on sale; so I am curious to see what she picks.

I really think it’s going to be an inexpensive dress as the charity is to help familiar so she will be smart, but not in your face head to toe designer; I think .
