Queen that made me laugh, quite!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 21/01/2019 00:01

I would imagine Kate will always keep her hair at least shoulder length whatever her age, I imagine she will wear it in sophisticated chignon during her 70’s and beyond for all her queenly duties, I can’t ever see her going for a Dame Judi.

SenecaFalls · 21/01/2019 00:17

I think Seneca was saying this

I do know someone who has a professional blow-dry every weekday, but that's not the norm where I live, although many women will have one every week or so in addition to when they get their hair cut or colored. It's fairly inexpensive.

I think Supermum said she knew women who had it done several times a week.

mathanxiety · 21/01/2019 03:18

I am mixing with the wrong American crowd Smile

Bloominglovely · 21/01/2019 03:41

I think Kste’s hair would look fabulous if she kept her extensions and went for a full bouncy bob, not straightened, and not short enough that it couldn’t be tied up.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/01/2019 04:31

Thing is, unless Kate decides to keep dying her hair until she dies, at some point she is going to have let the grey grow out. I think she started going grey pretty young; there is a photo of her during a pregnancy with some roots showing.
She will have to have a bit of a chop . But I don’t see her letting it go grey till her 60s, like the Queen. If at all. Silvia of Sweden still has brunette hair at 75.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/01/2019 07:36

Did HM ever dye her hair? As far as I can see from photos, she just let it go grey in the 70s. Queen Silvia, on the other hand, has had a lot of "help"!

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/01/2019 08:39

No I don’t think the Queen ever dyed her hair. In the late 80s she was going a bit grey at the temples, which is not bad bearing in mind she was in her 60s. Then she seemed to go completely grey within a couple of years around 1992; her annus horribilus

Laiste · 21/01/2019 08:41

Reading about the Queen Mum up thread; it's worth remembering her story: before her marriage - Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon - was from a family of nobility and was quite the catch. Even for a Prince.

If i'm right George had to propose to her three times before she agreed and they married in 1923. Same position in line to the throne as Harry and Meghan.

It was 13 years after they married when the King abdicated and George and Elizabeth had to step up and step into the role of King and Queen and see the country through WWII. Imagine this going on now! William abdicating and Harry having to step in 13 years after marrying Meghan. Just before the country goes to war ... Turbulent times compared to today.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/01/2019 08:41

I like the way Letizia is just letting the grey appear, but just keeping her hair hair sharp and shiny.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/01/2019 08:43

I think the Queen Mother was sought after more because of her personality rather than her lineage ( still not to be sniffed at). A generation earlier; British princes were still marrying European Princesses. Elizabeth Bowes Lyon must have been the first “commoner” Queen consort.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/01/2019 08:56

More Monaco circus festival here
The clown on the left looks like Donald Trump!
More Stephanie looking good and Jacques & Gabriella.
Stephanie’s daughter in the yellow is very attractive but she is not in the league of her first cousin; Charlotte Casiraghi.

Paradyning · 21/01/2019 09:01

Can't believe the Monagasque support this circus so much when they still use animals! It's mustn't be culturally unacceptable there yet.

EmGee · 21/01/2019 09:26

Kate's teeth were done by Parisian orthodontist Dr Didier Fillon. DH had his teeth fixed by Dr Fillon back in 2006. He is known as one of the pioneers of braces behind the teeth (or whatever is called - lingual braces?).

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 21/01/2019 11:09

I had heard of him doing Kate's teeth @EmGee but couldn't remember his name. ''Dr Fillon used to work in London

I know if I.had the money and in the public eye; I would be paying for tweaks like Kate. She is perfectly groomed as part of her job.

Elledorado · 21/01/2019 13:01

Having discussed them myself with my dentist, I think Kate definitely has veneers. If your eye/canine teeth are white like hers it's almost a certainty. Her hair however is exactly like mine - can go from flat/thin looking to huge/frizzy to amazingly glossy and bouncy with different styling and products. So I seriously doubt she has extensions - also they ruin your hair so I've heard over time and I doubt she'd risk it. 99% sure she's also had subtle botox though!

Villainess · 21/01/2019 13:08

Photos of her as a teen show her with quite thick and almost curly hair, so she may well have a few subtle extensions but she probably has a naturally thick head of hair anyway.

Villainess · 21/01/2019 13:10

Definitely a few veneers. Teeth don't suddenly expand in size in your thirties!

SenecaFalls · 21/01/2019 13:13

Elizabeth Bowes Lyon must have been the first “commoner” Queen consort.

In more recent times, yes. But there have been several: Elizabeth Woodville, wife of Edward IV; and four of Henry VIII's wives: Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Katherine Howard, and Katherine Parr. James, Duke of York, who was heir to Charles II, married a commoner Anne Hyde, but she died before James became king. She was the mother of two queens regnant, though: Mary II and Anne. There were also a few commoner consorts to Kings of Scots before the Union.

There have been paparazzi photos showing Kate’s hair extensions

Spudlet · 21/01/2019 13:50

IIRC, it was being English that probably condemned both Anne Boleyn and Katherine Howard. Unlike Catherine of Aragon and Anne of Cleves, they had no powerful relatives overseas to protect them from Henry. Jane Seymour was threatened during her marriage by being reminded what happened to her predecessor when she stuck her nose into ruling, and Katherine Parr had a narrow squeak when her religious enemies tried to turn Henry against her - she managed to get to him first and persuade him of her innocence, but it could have ended badly for her.

Being a married-in has never been easy, but it's hopefully a slightly less high-stakes business these days!

VamillaSugar · 21/01/2019 14:01

Here you go @balloondog

I got it from John Lewis and hopefully it’s still in stock.

QueenOfTheAndals · 21/01/2019 14:03

I think Kate will be the first queen to come from a completely non-aristocratic, non-titled background.

i don't think DoC has any extensions, the way her hair is blow-dried now is much more different ,less straighter at the top with more volume and and looser curls.

i used to get my hair blow-dried regularly when we still lived in paris, the street we lived in had actually two well known hair salons, and i used to pop in regularly .Oh it was heavenly, the most indulgent and relaxing experience. Having someone take care of your hair. Treatment, masks and blowdry, i couldn't have managed to do it myself with 2 small dcs hanging around my legs in less than thirty minutes. my hair always looked big and bouncy.

sadly i couldn't find a good place near me in London that did not give me the hair of a news reader.

regarding royals and plastic surgeries /fillers . you can't control the press pictures and sometimes you have a bad profile, good/bad angles and having nose job or chin surgery can make a huge difference, in appearance and confidence.

many royals had some work done but i was quite surprised by Letizia, i think i prefer her old nose . Queen Rania had lots of work done over the years. I think its very good, looks natural.

i think MM nose job is probably one of the best I've seen. Barely noticeable .

There have been paparazzi photos showing Kate’s hair extensions

Presumably these are the same photos of her smoking, lol. Often rumoured, never produced!
