I’d have everything going if I had the same amount of scrutiny.

desertgirl · 20/01/2019 16:20

Do any of us only look as nature intended? My hair hasn’t been its natural colour for 30 years; I don’t think that means I’m deeply insecure about my looks - and not do I think someone having extensions etc, particularly if such things are not uncommon among the people that person mixes with, means that either. Kate nd William’s ‘set’ probably my has the money to indulge in treatments like that - and when people around you do something, it starts to seem normal.

And she is being photographed endlessly. Trying to look her best even if that is more than just ‘neat and tidy’ surely shouldn’t be seen as unbecoming.... it’s not like she’s turned orange or had extreme surgery....

PineapplePower · 20/01/2019 16:20

Regarding the extensions, it must be a worry that a gust of wind might reveal how they are attached. Would she take that risk?

There’s a photo that reveals the extensions, but some claim it’s a scar Grin

itswinetime · 20/01/2019 16:23

She may have extension she may have a better hair dresser style cut that when she was younger who knows for sure but I just don't think it's a big deal if she does I don't see how are extensions are different to hair dye, high/lowlights even styling it 🤷🏻‍♀️ We all do things to make ourselves feel more confident.

PineapplePower · 20/01/2019 16:40

I don't see how are extensions are different to hair dye

I don’t think most people care. I certainly don’t. Just wish celebs would be more forthcoming about the “help” they’ve had so normies don’t feel so bad about themselves.

Extensions though, are rough on your hair. Developing bald patches and the like is not
uncommon. They suffer for our viewing pleasure Grin

beanaseireann · 20/01/2019 16:46

I know somebody at least a decade older than DofC and her hair is absolutely lush. No extensions, just long and swishy. She says it takes an hour to blow dry though.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/01/2019 16:53

Her hair does look thicker now but maybe it's the daily blowdries. But if she has gone down the extension route I guarantee they'll be the best extensions money can buy! Either way her hair is lovely and her trademark, much like how Diana made a blonde crop her signature look. (Note: this is in no way comparing the two women, I'm just pointing out how some women in the public eye make a certain look their own!)

I have similar hair and I'm 49. I just have a LOT of hair and it is easy to style (for a hairdresser! It gets on my nerves) and it's neither curly nor straight. It has lots of body and movement and I'm very select about what I use on it so it's in very good condition. This all sounds a bit bragg. It's not meant to. It's just that my hair remains probably my best feature, atop a face which is definitely starting to look its age. So whilst I have no issue with extensions, I just don't believe she has them.

CoffeeTableBook · 20/01/2019 16:54

@PineapplePower - That photo was genuinely a scar!

itswinetime · 20/01/2019 17:11

Apparently its Sophie's birthday today the royal family have picked this photos to celebrate. Nothing new but a nice little look back.

Happy Birthday Sophie

Jiggins · 20/01/2019 17:13

She looks like Gillian Anderson in that last polka dot dress photo

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/01/2019 17:19

Here's a slightly mind blowing fact - Sophie is now 54, which is older than the QM was when HM ascended the throne! I guess changing fashions means she looks more youthful. The QM looked middle-aged from the time she became queen, and she was younger than Kate and Meghan are now when that happened.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 20/01/2019 17:29

Gosh, I'd never thought I'd think - let alone say - this but in that 10 year old picture, Kate looks slightly tarty. Sorry, I'm obviously not a nice person.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 20/01/2019 17:31

I'm guessing it's the exposed chest and saucy expression?

itswinetime · 20/01/2019 17:39

@QueenOfTheAndals that is mind blowing! The QM indeed looked old before her time! I thing that's the thing with royal fashion. The traditional look/style makes people look older than they are but then they seem to stop aging for ages it's an odd phenomenon!

Clionba · 20/01/2019 17:57

Kate's dental work is excellent.

itswinetime · 20/01/2019 18:03

Are the loads of pictures of Kate with bad teeth? I haven't ever seen her without a perfect smile at least a smile that makes me jealous anyway!

Jiggins · 20/01/2019 18:09

She went from having 'perfectly fine teeth' to 'perfect teeth' (whilst sensibly avoiding those megawhite horsey veneers so beloved of celebs these days).

GrumbleBumble · 20/01/2019 18:09

I don't think it's just a royal thing (HMQ looking older than her years) I think it's more of a generational thing. At 70 my parents are wearing jeans, following fashion to some degree where as my mum said her own granny (who would have only been in her late 50s in mum's first memories of her) was a "little old lady with grey hair who sat in a rocking chair wrapped in shawl". It's often shocking how young people in old photos are as they seem much older than teens and twenty somethings today.

Clionba · 20/01/2019 18:17

Kate has never had bad teeth. They're just better. She's avoided the US/celeb tendency for an implausible row of identical gleaming white gnashers.
Very nicely done.

itswinetime · 20/01/2019 18:26

I see I will stick to shoes and bags they are way easier to tell apart than teeth they all look the same to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 20/01/2019 18:29

I do think Kate has had extensions, not that there is anything wrong with that I have them myself, they truly are transformational!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 20/01/2019 18:39

I would question whether Saucy Kate (as I now think of her Wink) has had fillers at all as even as a child her cheeks have been quite prominent.

Likewise extensions - my hair will double in fullness with a decent blow dry. Even when I do it myself.

I have a photo of my mum in the 50s when she was in early 30s and she looked middle aged even then - as they all did then. The Queen seemed to go from young to middle aged over night.

QueenOfTheAndals · 20/01/2019 19:50

The QM and G6 in 1937, when she was the same age as Kate and younger than Meghan is right now. Hard to believe isn't it? She was quite plain and dumpy really, but I guess she won people over through the sheer force of her personality. Apparently she had quite a dry sense of humour and we all know she was fond of a G&T or three!
