Completely missed the ball with the previous thread so hope this thread is easy enough to find!

He won't be banned from driving, but he may just stop driving. He fucked up, but he'd have gotten an awful fright and he may not get over it that well. One thing I know about the very very elderly is that it doesn't take much for a deterioration. Sometimes all it takes is a fright. Sad

beanaseireann · 18/01/2019 07:48

Paradyning That Guardian article implies there was only one person in the Duke's car. The Duke.
Apologies to the media at large for my post if that was the case. If there was no one else in the car how could they mention them and how they were. Smile

FATEdestiny · 18/01/2019 07:48

This traffic accident has made me think off on a tangent.

Aren't the RF immune to prosecution? Or is that just The Queen? I notice PP breathalised negative, but if hypothetically he was over the limit. Or if he was proved to be speeding and something more serious happened - could he be prosecuted?

What about if these things happened to HM? Or PC?

Spudlet · 18/01/2019 07:59

Princess Anne wasn't just prosecuted about her dog biting people, she actually appeared in court. She was the first member of the RF to do so. I don't expect the DoE or HM would turn up (unless they'd done something so heinous as to be given no choice, but this seems a bit far-fetched) but I think they can be prosecuted.

Paradyning · 18/01/2019 08:23

His protection officer was in the car.
And here were witnesses at the scene who immediately reported to the BBC.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/01/2019 09:00

Looks like we might be a little light on royal fashions to discuss for a bit but awards season has just started in Hollywood so head over to @CurlyWurlyTwirly's thread for some Celebrity Style & Gossip!

I wonder if Steph has had some gentle fillers @CurlyWurlyTwirly to ease out her lines? She does look great there

Mitsouko67 · 18/01/2019 09:18

Getting back to MMs bag with the red and purple outfit. People it was exactly right.! She did it on purpose as matchy matchy would have been way uncool! I actually noticed it and liked it.

Having been very matchy matchy myself back in the day I now realise it is not the way forward.

Says she in parka and heavy boots. Now go for comfort everything but still love KMs style. Very grown up and queenly. With an amazing figure.

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/01/2019 09:23

@Mitsouko67 I agree, and it was the perfect outfit for a walkabout as it meant she was easy to spot. It's what HM does!

Stephanie looks good in that picture. Not sure if it's fillers or styling. I think her skin is paying the debt for years of sun worship - she is probably the most tanned royal ever!

Re DofE - I read that his driving licence wasn't up to date. Although I thought neither he or HMQ had to have a driving licence? I may be wrong on that point though. As a former insurance claims manager, I can say with some confidence that if he was the one pulling out then he will be at fault. Even if the other car was speeding, it does not make a difference - if you knew / suspected it was speeding, then you shouldn't pull out. Either way, I hope everyone was ok.

Paradyning · 18/01/2019 09:27

I think one of King Swede's sisters might fight her for that crown!

QueenOfTheAndals · 18/01/2019 09:33

Blimey, you're not wrong @Paradyning!!

Wear your SPF kids.

Spudlet · 18/01/2019 09:45

Goodness me. [Thanks lucky stars for being a pasty redhead who worships spf and sun hats over all things]

FlyMayBe · 18/01/2019 09:50

But what was the DoE wearing?

(Lighthearted)

Bloominglovely · 18/01/2019 09:55

I’ll have to google to see if Kate ever wears jodhpurs

Isn’t she allergic to horses?

Though I wonder if she can’t/doesn’t ride and uses the excuse of being allergic to get past that in the same way a friend of mine who dislikes tomatoes tells every restaurant we go to that she is allergic to them Grin It pretty much guarantees she won’t get them.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/01/2019 10:17

One thing I know about the very very elderly is that it doesn't take much for a deterioration. Sometimes all it takes is a fright.

I was thinking that too @Elspeth

Bloominglovely · 18/01/2019 10:21

All this concern shown to Philip while the other car is barely mentioned other than they were checked over and are fine. People are people and should be equal. The RF are wealthy but not superior to anyone else.

Bloominglovely · 18/01/2019 10:26

Two women and a ten month old were involved and Philip should have been with a protection officer. Three other people and possibly four involved. Broken arm, leg injury. The news is only about Philip. It certainly wasn’t a minor collision.

beanaseireann · 18/01/2019 10:28

I agree Bloominglovely.
Was there or was there not anyone in the car with PP ?

Bloominglovely · 18/01/2019 10:38

PP should have been with a protection officer apparently but it isn’t clear whether that was the case. I am guessing the palace will be reluctant to confirm due to the security risk.

TyraAllen · 18/01/2019 10:42

The news is only about Philip

The main story on the BBC website quotes exactly what happened to the others involved - the baby was uninjured, the driver had some cuts and the passenger a broken wrist, they were taken to hospital, treated and discharged. It is entirely possible that the people involved do not want to give any further details to the press at this point, as is entirely their right, which means there's not a lot else to be reported about them which wouldn't be total speculation.

itswinetime · 18/01/2019 10:44

I think at first yes it was all very Prince Phillip focused but this morning it seems to be more even.

According to today's papers

A royal bodyguard with the Prince at the time also escaped uninjured, it’s been reported.

The people in the other car – two women and a baby– were treated in hospital but have since been discharged

“The female driver of the Kia suffered cuts while the female passenger sustained an arm injury, both requiring hospital treatment.
“We can confirm both casualties from the Kia have been treated at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn and have since been discharged

So yes initially it was all a bit one sided firstly that's a road where there are lots of accidents it only made the news because it was Prince Phillip yes they should be treated equally but how many accidents like that happen daily. Secondly the would have needed the other cars permission to post anything and I'm sure initially getting them checked over was the priority.

Finally eye whiteness say Prince Philip was concerned about the other car even if the press hasn't been 'He (Philip) wasn’t rude. He was very shaken and he went and asked: ‘Is everyone else alright?’.

Lot of sun and mail quotes there which is why I copied and pasted instead of linking articles.

I know she isn't actual royalty, but I don't think it's too far out of scope of this thread to indulge in a retrospective of Michelle Obama's best looks. She is amazing - even when she gets it wrong it looks right ( a la Max)
