Imagine rolling a car at 97! He doesn't appear to need glasses. BBC report says he was driving.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 17/01/2019 19:02

Apparently he pulled out of a driveway...

Wetdogloveshubert · 17/01/2019 19:46

I drove the M4 this afternoon; coming down the other side were three police cars with their lights on, BMW in the middle with quite a few people in. Quite a way behind were two other plain police cars holding back three lanes of traffic. Royalty on the move? I could've sworn it was the DoC but that may be seeing what I wanted to see.

ajandjjmum · 17/01/2019 20:21

A few days after George was born, I drove past the whole cavalcade travelling from London presumably to Buckleberry on the M4 as I was driving in. I was so excited - when I got to the meeting and announced that I'd seen the new baby Prince, no-one else seemed in the slightest bit bothered!

Prince Philip.

According to witnesses, he seemed very shocked when assisted from the overturned vehicle.

LaurenOrdering · 17/01/2019 20:37

@myqueenkate did your children make the card they sent to the Cambridges?

There's an article on the Glamour magazine website about the bracelet Meghan wore last night, apparently it was Diana's.

TSSDNCOP · 17/01/2019 20:41

Fingers crossed everyone involved is OK, and make a speedy recovery.

myqueenkate · 17/01/2019 20:44

Yes I always get them to draw one and we send it for birthdays etc. They always get a card back and fairly quickly too, its worth doing.

Ktay · 17/01/2019 20:44

A rewear of the Star Trek uniform by P. Anne in Derbyshire today

myqueenkate · 17/01/2019 20:45

sorry @LaurenOrdering didn’t know how to quote you, apologies.

lakeswimmer · 17/01/2019 20:53

Just de-lurking to say hello (I've been following these threads for a while) and to say thanks for the photo of Princess Anne - she had a lot of engagements today and one of them involved meeting some colleagues of mine. Because of this thread I felt I should ask them what she was wearing but I didn't get round to it Grin

Also, I had a royal dream last night; Prince Philip had died and the RF were devastated so I was pretty taken aback when I saw the news about the crash Shock

LaurenOrdering · 17/01/2019 20:56

Re Prince Philip's rtc, sometimes the cars involved in minor accidents can end up looking completely wrecked compared to a car that's been in a major rtc which sometimes can just look a bit bashed. Though I know this isn't always the case.
One of my friends was involved in a rtc caused by a drunk driver. (Drunk speeding whilst rest of the traffic slowed down due to hold ups etc at rush hour. The drink driver's car flipped, (he managed to get out of the window with hardly a scratch on him), the woman he went into, her car flipped & was very smashed up. This car went into my friend & caused the back end & the back roof to buckle. All cars write offs.
Drunk & my friend whiplash & a few cuts & bruises, checked by paramedics & my friend allowed to go home. Woman in flipped car had to be cut out by fire service, taken to hospital as had broken arm & major bruising.
I saw the photos of the wrecked cars, they were so bad you would think serious injuries or fatalities if you didn't know any of the involved.

LaurenOrdering · 17/01/2019 20:58

@myqueenkate that's lovely.

myqueenkate · 17/01/2019 21:37

@LaurenOrdering the kids are always excited to get an envelope from the palace so its worth the price of a stamp Smile

I wrote to Diana when I was younger and got a lovely letter back from her Lady in Waiting so I’ve always done it since.

VamillaSugar · 17/01/2019 21:41

The reason why these royals are so thin is because you can’t just pull into the petrol station and get yourself a grab bag of Doritos along with 35 litres of unleaded. Oh, and the Costa latte and look, a kilo of Twirl for a pound!!

LaurenOrdering · 17/01/2019 21:54

GrinGrinGrin @VamillaSugar

IPromiseIWontBeNaughty · 17/01/2019 22:30

Vamilla My vice is fruit pastilles. Large packet gone in less than 5 minutes. Blush

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/01/2019 06:01

More on Prince Phillip’s car crash DM link.

I cannot believe how he came out of that unhurt. Apparently he was saying to the man who pulled him out ( of the sunroof); “my legs, my legs” and was badly shaken as anyone would be.
Apparently there is a medical facility at the Sandringham estate and he is being monitored there.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 18/01/2019 06:08

Rare sighting of Princess Stephanie of Monaco at the Circus Festival.
She looks much more attractive than I have seen her in recent years....

Royal style & gossip: look out, duchesses about!
AlsoBling2 · 18/01/2019 07:13

I haven't clicked on the dm link as no point. Their stories are simply made up. But noticed that the road has had multiple accidents, including fatalities, and that locals say people drive on it extremely fast...

Are we seeing anyone today? I have lost track of who is where.

Paradyning · 18/01/2019 07:25

Here's a non DM link. There was a baby in that car too. Can't see how he wasn't at fault as he pulled out of a junction.

beanaseireann · 18/01/2019 07:35

It's all about how the Duke is.
What about his passenger ?
No mention of how they are.
He/ She must be fairly traumatised too as the two women in the other car must be also.
They were brought to hospital.
How they got a 97 year old out of the car is mind boggling. The driver's side was upturned nearest the tarmac iykwim.

NotNowMrTumnus · 18/01/2019 07:41

Well, he’ll be banned from driving and will have to be chauffeured around. I expect Her Maj will be having words.

Clionba · 18/01/2019 07:42

I bet he won't be banned from driving!
