Previous thread.

Usual rules - say what you like about the clothes, keep it civil re the wearers.

True. But at least heels and tiaras are pretty. These are just so, so odd.

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 09:32

DontCallMeCharlotte is the Tudor period considered late Medieval?

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 09:34

Crookedme we have debated the headbands across a few threads now and you are definitely in the majority when you ask Confused?

AhoyDelBoy · 07/01/2019 09:35

Someone spotted what Kate was wearing underneath the blue coat

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 09:36

I still like them though! Long live the CABHAS!

CrookedMe · 07/01/2019 09:38

@IdaBWells I was almost ready to let it go but that blue one is a fashion atrocity Grin

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 09:43

AhoyDelBoy and the author says she/he will be posting a piece on her headbands soon - wonder if they have anything to add? I am pretty amazed at how expensive there are to be honest but I suppose I wouldn't be surprised if it was a fascinator that was so pricey.

I love the blue and glad to see she is one of the few women willing to rewear something she wore while pregnant; although to be fair it was altered, probably by a master tailor.

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 09:45

Crookedme Grin there is something down in my 50 yr old soul that also loves the fact they seem to annoy so many people!! Xmas Grin

Paradyning · 07/01/2019 10:03

Does this hideous headdress count as Boleynesque? Boleyn with flowers on?

QueenOfTheAndals · 07/01/2019 10:06

That flowered thing looks like it was a hand me down from the Queen Mum!

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 10:12

What is that exactly? Is it a headband that goes right across her head or is it more like a fascinator?

CrookedMe · 07/01/2019 10:13

Looks like an albatross took aim at her head Grin

frugalkitty · 07/01/2019 10:32

fleurie the lilac Emilia Wickstead is a summer lilac, IIRC the only crossover between summer and spring is hyacinth which is darker. I agree about the olive though which is why I can't pinpoint her. I'd say autumn over spring but my hunch is still summer I am biased though

Another one who can't see the appeal of the headbands I'm afraid. The blue one at church was very unflattering, I thought she looked a bit drained yesterday. Bet she'd rather have been indoors in the warm with the kids! I like the link with Anne Boleyn though, she was another royal who started new fashion trends after arriving from time in the French court.

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 10:34

Grin I saw more photos at Town and Country of the whole outfit and the dress or coat dress is not one of my favourites. This is one of those times when I do agree with the critique that Catherine is dressing too old for her age. This is an outfit that falls into that category. She has such a beautiful smile though and she just seems so delighted that one of her best friends is getting married that she radiates happiness in the photos.

Also I was surprised to see Carole’s outfit for this wedding. I think Carole Middleton is fab, more power to her but this is one of the extremely rare times her outfit is a dud. Nevermind, she’s stil MIL and Nana to future Kings.

IdaBWells · 07/01/2019 10:37

frugalkitty what are some of the fashion trends she introduced from the French Court? Sharing your royal lover with your sister Wink?

pinkground202 · 07/01/2019 10:39

Wonderful news @IdaBWells congratulations!

A nice tiara to start the week

Thank you pinkground Smile wow gold, diamonds and pearls but the gold has so much depth of colour, is that just the photo? It seems very Byzantine.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/01/2019 10:49

The flower crown she wore to Sophie Carter’s wedding could be so cool if she went all Frida Kahlo.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Kate in a bold lipstick. There’s no “walk of shame” for her!
Meghan would look amaaaazing in a frida Kahlo style; boho dress. Pop on a flower crown, and a slash of red lipstick.
Not without royal precedent; Madeleine wore one to her daughter’s christening and looked so cute and fresh.

I think th hairloss theory might be correct. I have similar hair to the DoC and lost loads of hair after childbirth. It looks lank all the time. I think the headband is prefect to hide thinner hair.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/01/2019 10:53

That’s the tiara the queen wears all the time. Or used to in the 70s and 80s. It’s covered in diamonds. Must be the lighting which makes it look gold.
The Vladimir tiara has an interesting history

Spudlet · 07/01/2019 10:57

I love a good hat-wearing opportunity and I hardly ever get one. If I were Royal, I would wear a hat at all times. Or a tiara. Possibly both.

I quite like some of the headbands - the Christmas Day one was ok. May I be an associate member of the CABHAS? I would like to retain a 'wtaf woman' option for extreme headgear situations Grin

frugalkitty · 07/01/2019 10:59

Ida off with the top of my head (see what I did there? Grin ) she inspired the change in headdress from a gable style popular in England to a French hood style, and I think she led the way in long draped sleeves which was a way of hiding the extra digit/growth she had on her hand. Sorry if that's vague, I'm tucked up with a chest infection and my head is a bit groggy! Sadly, the sharing of lovers was already established, mainly by men trying to orchestrate their advancement at court.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/01/2019 11:01

Let’s see if John Lewis & Marks & Spencer produce headbands alongside the fascinators for the spring wedding season...

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 07/01/2019 11:18

If any of you want to look at just gowns ( no crowns) we’re discussing the golden globes on Celebrity Style and Gossip

Clionba · 07/01/2019 11:46

The hair loss theory makes no sense.
Why not just wear a hat to cover it?
