I think she's definitely got warm undertones @frugalkitty. She really doesn't suit the ice blue colours she wears.

The whole 'headband before crown' theory is a bit ridiculous when you consider that it could be, I don't know, 20 years before Kate is queen.

They look dreadful: twee and frumpy.

She's younger than me and that god-awful below-the-knee coat dress thing is just atrocious.

Very boring headband theory- DoC post natal hair loss has left her hair not feeling as thick as it was previously, so she wears headbands as a bit of a distraction for anyone who might otherwise notice until it gets back to normal.

I’m in the minority in that I quite like them- it’s not like wearing hats as Sunday Best is the norm anymore, it must be quite a challenge to find something that doesn’t scream Mother of the Bride.

the coordinating Cambridges. I like it. Makes for a cute photo, for the next 5 decades.

The matching tones in the photos of coordinating Cambridge look lovely. Although that takes so much thought and planning! The last picture of Kate in the white skirt and top looks great; she should wear that again!

Hi all, haven’t been very active on the thread over Christmas and NY. Hope everyone had a good festive season. Must catch up with the threads I’ve missed now. Thought I would share this picture of HMQ in a nice white coat. Wasn’t a fan of Kate’s blue headband either, weird choice. I don’t know if there’s any truth in that she’s wearing t because she’s changing her hair. She had that awful fringe at one point with no trying to disguise it along the way.

I think baby number 4 for Kate.

Don’t forget that Kate has a degree in Art History and knows how a painting/photo can tell a story. She is deliberately making the outfits a work of future Art History.

Is that what makes the photos of the Romanovs so haunting, though, that the photos are like art and slightly surreal, plus we know the tragic outcome?

Everything she wears is carefully thought out (see coordination with her family) so the headbands must have a purpose. Maybe she can communicate with her protective team through them or they are weaponized 😄

Wanted to let you lovely group of total strangers know that I was just told on Friday that I am in remission for the bone cancer I was diagnosed with in June, yay!

I think the picture of Kate carrying Charlotte wearing red tights is lovely - the tights are almost exactly the same colour as her clutch.

@vanillasugar that’s very interesting about Kate’s art history perspective. I’ve always thought the formal outfits; especially with the children, are «dressing for posterity». Also her mother runs a very visual business, so Kate will understand about about creating a brand (Cambridge)

I don’t think there will be a baby number 4, for the simple reason she’s getting rid of her maternity stuff. Carole was wearing her Hobbs coat; the airforce blue coat she wore in Norway has been recut. ( and not cheap). Kate will have no shortage of storage space, to keep items just in case.
The Seraphine dresses have probably gone to charity.
She’s treated herself to a few new outfits this year; the tartan skirt before Christmas, Christmas Day coat, raspberry McQueen at Eugenie’s wedding. Also a couple of new evening gowns. That silver dress from the Dutch state dinner and the Diplomatic reception dinner.
The private dress for Prince Charles 70th was probably new too.
I suspect the lemon coat dress from Meghan and Harrys wedding will be adjusted ( she’d only had Louis 3 weeks prior) and we’ll see that later this year.
