Thanks Not it’s proving a slog, not helped by the blinkin shoulder pain. Yy finding stuff I found three mint velvet jumpers unworn with tags a few weeks ago & a phase eight jumper which is about two years old & again unworn so wasteful.

Cheers not. if you find the magic outfit, please can you let me know?
(As I said before, I think the magic outfit is a wetsuit - everyone looks like a seal in a wetsuit)

On this topic of how to wear your wardrobe and avoid future mistakes it may be interesting to follow midlife chic blogger Nikki. I only read (when I remember to) her blog and the that’s not my age blog by Alyson as they both feature interesting styles and clothes I tend to like even if their specific style is not really 100% “me”...
Anyway Nikki has just started a new series of how to build a capsule wardrobe which looks interesting with food for fashion thought:

Just popping in to say hello. Haven’t really read back but singularly unimpressed with the new Hush collection. Nothing particularly classy or gorgeous.

Having a lovely time, walking 5-10 miles a day (aim - buns of steel for leather leggings. It’s very hilly!). Haven’t actually been in pool as I had a new swim suit I bought in the summer, and it’s so loose you can now see right up the leg holes. 😱👀. Bit annoyed as bravissimo swimsuits so expensive and it still has labels on. Anyway, buying a replacement that fits my top half is not something that happens in a normal store so swimming off the menu so far. I did try on a speedo that they were selling in the spa shop, but it barely covered my nipples with acres of boob escaping out of the side.

@FuzzyCustard yes on the thinking the next outfit will make me beautiful. I am so guilty of this. I definitely need to shop my wardrobe more. I really enjoyed the midlife chic posts, I read The Curated Closet last year too which focuses on the same theme.

Today's outfit was my scarlet crew neck jumper, again! I'm doing well on the price per wear on this one and a pair of Rupert Bear (or is it Rupert the Bear??) trousers from Next. Tomorrow is a smart day at work so I need to find something suitable in my wardrobe later.

@cherries what a healthy break! You put me to shame. Enjoy even if swimming is off the menu atm. Your energy is amazing!
@cod your outfit today sounds like a happy combo to chase away the winter blues.

Crikey I’m tired cherries just hearing about your break 5-10 miles uphill, buns of steel definitely😄

I have to say i have looked and looked at the new stuff. Is it me or is there just not that much? I just am not that fussed for anything new tbh.. I do like the orangey cashmere jumper but its quite short looking. All the other things are a bit meh.

Hi Len - sorry for a absence, have been dipping in and out of thread. I've actually had a bit of a shock this week, had a bit of unexpected health news. Won't go into it too much as it's quite outing and don't want to disrupt the thread too much but it's taking a bit of time to process and get my head round. I am ok - and I will be getting treatment and sorted, It all just feels a bit weird at the moment, I'm used to being the HCP answering all the questions but now I'm the one who has a million and one questions!
Anyhoooo... I will be ok. Haven't looked at the new stuff yet as been a bit distracted by all the goings on these last two days but I will have a look tonight once kids are in bed. This thread is a good distraction so I'll be reading and following 😘
Have been entertained by talk of cardigan faux pas and puss in boots boots!

Ella i am so sorry to hear about your health shock Flowers .. I hope whatever it is will e able to be dealt with and you will be ok.

The Alfords came , lovely but they really are too big although I thought they quite probably would be . However I reckon the 5s would probably be too narrow over the widest part of my foot even if they came back in stock, but the 6s are just too big everywhere else. So back they go Sad. i would try a 5 if I could but haven't seen any for some time..

never I agree, just all disappointing really .. the only outfit I like is the fireworks silk blouse soy likes and black culottes shown with it, but its just not me as an outfit/fit in with lifestyle piece..

Awwww @ella. Hope it gets sorted out Flowers

Shame about the boots @Laska but honestly, my feet are so wide.I have the the 6's and they are fine. They felt pretty tight to begin with but they are so comfy now. I really cant believe it as they were pinching to begin with. If the 5's come back in you should try them.

neveradullmoment99 · 16/01/2019 20:35

@Laska, I cannot believe we are almost finished with this thread!!!
Do you think they will put more stuff on? I was hoping they might have more skirts but there really is nothing that excites me.

Laska2Meryls · 16/01/2019 20:36

I will keep a look out never but I reckon the 5s are all gone now.. Shame they are nice (a bit John Cooper Clark I think which isn't a bad thing at all !!)

Oh ella - FlowersWine I'm so sorry to hear that. Hope you are coping OK.
fuzzy - lol at the wetsuit! I see the logic, but I'm not sure the world is ready for the business wetsuit quite yet... Grin Unfortunately, wetsuit notwithstanding, i don't think there is a universally flattering thing. Otherwise we'd all be wearing it, look like filmstars and there wouldn't be this thread... I think, if nothing else, this thread is great for showing how we all look different in the same things, and everyone has certain things that really work on them, that don't necessarily work on others...

soy - that blog looks really good. I don't really follow blogs, as I assume they are all just sponsored by various brands, and don't give a balanced view of the clothes (and also, with no budget restrictions...) - but she seems really down to earth and I like her writing style. When i have a moment I'm going to try that style-finder thingy, but I'll have to think a bit to narrow down to only 3! (my alter egos are all battling to have themselves heard).

cherries - I'm glad you're having a good time - though it sounds pretty hardcore for relaxing! And it must be amazing for you (if annoying) to see how much weight you have obviously lost, even since the summer!

I'm liking the sound of the Rupert trousers codfish! Wouldn't they do for smart too?

And bother about the boots laska. It sounds from what never said that they stretch a little too, so probably not wise to have them big to begin with. At least you know the style is good and not grannyboot-y, so you can keep an eye out...

I reckon they will put more stuff on in a month or so. This is "pre-spring" (whatever that is...mid winter as far as i can tell) so they will presumably do the proper spring collection in Feb(?) (and then an apres-spring - before the pre-summer?? Grin). I agree it seems a bit sparse for a full season. I agree - normally some things jump out at me immediately, and then a few more things as I look again, (that seriously happened to me with the autumn collection...but then I love love love autumn clothes) but honestly, not much is tempting me, even were they to do a 10%. Maybe I should follow len's example and go on a clothes no-spend, and then there would be loads of stuff that I just had to have...

codfish - Right - I had to look that one up... This one??? OMG - that is amazing! DS would love that (I wouldn't get it for me - oh no...)

@SoyYo Midlifechic and That's Not My Age are two of my favourite blogs as well - both a really good read and actual attainable style writing.

Best wishes @ellapaella Flowers
