.. Suit pastels ..

FuzzyCustard · 10/01/2019 20:39

I used my John Lewis vouchers and bought a Seasalt dress (I'm very fond of Seasalt for everyday wear). It was a billy bargain at £16.50, reduced from £55! It arrived today and I really like it. Yippee!

Laska2Meryls · 10/01/2019 20:45

That's lovely fuzzy and a real bargain.. I love Seasalt also sits on hands, puts credit card in block of ice in freezer

FuzzyCustard · 10/01/2019 20:53

Thank you laska. It's actually a darker blue than the picture, but that's fine with me. And you can get off your hands...it is out of stock now!

NotAnActualSheep · 10/01/2019 20:55

Thanks fuzzy, len and Laska (toast model Blush haha - maybe two models splodged together and having had two decades of Cake...Grin) yes, I've tried the skirt again with a belt, boots and various tops, and it definitely works. The hush pink boat neck cashmere looks pretty good I think... sludge green is surprisingly versatile.

Lol @ the wrap catalogue. I like a bit of droopy sludge, me! It's odd, in that it is theoretically so similar to poetry (I think they are the same company? Not sure how both brands are supposed to differ) yet the poetry one seems gorgeous, and the wrap one, not so much...( though there are still a few things I wouldn't say no to...Blush). There just seems to be a bit too much "per una"-ing in wrap this season. Too many frills and ruffles and bows in fabrics that can't take it...whereas poetry seems to have cleaner lines in the same muted colours. Very odd.

Your holiday wardrobe sounds great cherries. I'm very envious. Mostly because if I ever take more than 2 pairs of shoes on holiday DH starts whinging about me taking up all the space with my "hiking stilettos" Angry. It sounds that what you have is very versatile. I'm rubbish, and end up packing stuff "just in case" and then never needing it...I also never learn that there are shops abroad too, so if it IS unseasonably cold, it's not rocket science to buy a jumper or two there...

I tend to panic with pairing colours...so something that is definitely a colour, I tend to just stick with black, navy, grey or sometimes cream/ beige...so something more or less neutral. I'm a bit scared of clashing, otherwise (also, bad memories of brown trousers and a green fluffy jumper, and being called a tree in my teens...). But different shades should definitely work, yes.

NotAnActualSheep · 10/01/2019 20:59

Oh, that seasalt dress is gorgeous colours (auto-correct wants me to write "deadly dress" but I'm not going to!). And looks like a good shape too. I love a bargain.

ilovecherries · 10/01/2019 21:08

Going up north to the proper ‘up North’ :). Skiing if there is enough snow, otherwise walking. Nice spa etc.

FuzzyCustard · 10/01/2019 21:09

not you have summed up the Wrap/Poetry divide perfectly! Too many frills. There was a particularly hideous skirt in brown linen with a sticky out frill and some broderie anglaise (also brown) round the bottom,. Suitable for "Annie, the Musical" only. (IMO of course!)

I know sludge doesn't suit me...I had my colours done several years ago and happily sludge, brown and orange are off limits, whereas black and blue are good. Phew!

NotAnActualSheep · 10/01/2019 21:12

Sounds totally lovely cherries. Mmmmmm spa mmmm. Ignore what I said about there being shops, then. There aren't any shops in proper up north (well, only those selling Nessie tat, tartan and walking ponchos) and it WILL be seasonably cold. But you know that!

Huffthepuff · 10/01/2019 22:13

Sounds just perfect Cherries wonderful wardrobe to take with you too

Oh Not I fear we have fallen down a Toast rabbit hole that will only lead to bankruptcy... accidentally checked out their home stuff too, big mistake. It's all just lovely. My replacement (cheaper) skirt has arrived along with the wool coatigan. It's beautiful🙈 think it will be a wardrobe essential. Will try and get a pic in the light tomorrow

Ellapaella · 10/01/2019 22:36

The gorgeous Anya coat is now reduced to £120 - am very tempted.

Huffthepuff · 10/01/2019 22:52

Are you thinking of getting the red one Ella? It's lovely

AFingerofFudge · 10/01/2019 23:08

laska I did get some sale things although unfortunately DH has "pissed on my fireworks " a bit about them. He is lovely in many ways but he is unpleasantly tight with money and also has no interest in clothes.
So when I was showing off my new red velvet jacket from John Lewis (!) to the DS's, I made the mistake of asking him what he thought. "Well it's up to you isn't it " is all he could say and when I asked him about it later he just said "well, do you need another jacket, and where are you going to put it? I said "well those things weren't the kind of opinions I was looking for" but he just said I shouldn't have asked his opinion. So now I'm feeling a bit deflated.

Anyway, enough of that, I bought the red jacket from John Lewis, the blue jumper from Hush that says "love rules" on it, and then a number of Toast goodies!! For all you toast fans out there! There was a 70% off rail of a load of random toast items so I bought this gorgeous but massively heavy very long denim skirt (£28.50!) and a mustard coloured t-shirt (£13.50)
I must admit I love a bit of Toast too but only when it's these type of prices!
Here's me in the jacket in the changing rooms:

Huffthepuff · 10/01/2019 23:29

Jacket looks brilliant Fudge, gorgeous colour. I know the Toast tee you mean. I had it in my JL wishlist for months and am very jealous of your bargain! I wanted it at £45 so you must be super chuffed to get it for £13.50!

My dp is just the same about clothes so I don't show him anything I buy. He has no interest and agree it's very deflating to get that kind of feedback. Which is why I chose to discuss my purchases here instead. I feel your frustration. Don't let it detract from your enjoyment of a fun shopping trip

AFingerofFudge · 11/01/2019 07:46

Thanks huff ; like I say, in many ways he's great, it's just really annoying when he sucks the joy out of something!!

It is true that I have bought a LOT of clothes in recent months, so I must stop. Or slow down anyway!!!

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2019 08:06

right people I tried on my leather leggings again last night.. .. decided that what I currently need for them is your recommendations for best knickers for no VPL.. (but not thongs!!. ).

Also Never and Soy have you found that yours have stretched much?.. I dont want mine to too much if I am on a weight loss mission , so this will decide me if I wear then out tomorrow..

fudge shame about your DH , luckily mine is quite the opposite, but there does sometimes get a time when the quizzical look comes out if there are too many parcels in one go But then I have had the same reaction from the postlady!! Grin.. but who cares? its my money and i'm not in debt..

soy I hope you are ok,as we havent heard from you recently are you in Paris?)

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2019 08:09

I'm going into our little town today mainly to take back stuff and hopefully meet Ds for lunch . Tbh theres not much there to choose from but they have M&S ..

twosoups1972 · 11/01/2019 12:10

laska I love a bit of burgundy! I think it goes with lots of colours especially navy,

cherries your outfits sound fab. I find holiday packing (especially shorter holidays or weekends) very difficult. I don't know what I'll fancy wearing when I'm there so tend to pack way too much.

twosoups1972 · 11/01/2019 12:16

fudge I LOVE that jacket Smile Beautiful colour. Is it John Lewis and Partners own brand?

I've got a lovely navy velvet blazer that I got in the sale at Massimo Dutti a few years ago that I haven't worn much yet. The weather's got to be right for a blazer, I feel the cold so often spring/autumn weather I find a blazer isn't warm enough.

Huffthepuff · 11/01/2019 12:23

Here's the Toast coatigan. It's not going to set the world alight but it'll be useful

ilovecherries · 11/01/2019 12:25

laska, I wear the no VPL microfibre midi briefs from Tesco or Sainsbury’s. basically no leg elastic. However I clearly don’t have the sensitive MN fango as my pants have never given me thrush.

Fudge, lovely jacket. Love me a bit of velvet. My DH doesn’t ever comment on me buying clothes, but also isn’t that interested. His excuse is ‘but you always look lovely to me’ is at times endearing and at other times feels an annoying patronising cop out. I love him despite his lack of sartorial elegance.

soups hope your dd is starting to feel more rested

twosoups1972 · 11/01/2019 12:36

Thank you cherries she's feeling perkier already. I'm just letting her sleep as much as she wants. With dd2 doing GCSE mocks and autistic dd3, home is difficult at the moment.

When do you leave for your holiday? Hope you have a fab time. Hope the weather is good and enjoy the spa!

twosoups1972 · 11/01/2019 12:37

What are everyone's views on this jacket please?

PorpoisefullyObtuse · 11/01/2019 12:42

I’ve finally succumbed to the sales. It was Lens fault - the fugly boots! They are so comfy.

Also had a run into joules. Got grey Monroe skinnies for £25. They are a fab fit.

I’m wearing the combo today with my wide V. Will add my leather jacket and an animal print scarf to go out.

I can't see everyone's pictures (curses) but I can link to your jacket soups, and I love it! Classic style with a bit of a twist in the colour and texture. It's a yes from me.

porpoise lovely outfit...those skinnies do indeed fit very well indeed.
