X posted with lots of others, I think as well soups a lot depends on how she is over the next few days, maybe if she is sleeping better & now the stress of mocks will no longer be a factor, she may feel a little more on a even keel, yy though with knowing your Mum is near when my Ds was really unwell, he didn’t talk that much but knowing we were near & would listen if he wanted to talk did make a difference.

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 15:27

Not love the skirt & jumper, but agree the trousers don’t seem to fit properly yy toast quality is very good.

twosoups1972 · 10/01/2019 15:38

Thank you everyone, will keep an eye and see how she is. She's emerged from her bedroom and is having something to eat. I went in to see her but she didn't want to talk. Think she likes being on her own at the moment.

twosoups1972 · 10/01/2019 15:39

I was going to order the Spanx faux leather leggings from Selfridges but....£5 for delivery??!

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 15:49

Soups I think as long as she knows you are available & will listen that can be enough for someone, hope you manage to sort out the psychiatrist appointment soon & as I said previously I know that medication can be quite a scary thought, but sometimes a short term intervention can be really beneficial especially with low mood/thought process & anxiety, I have known many many people who have had periods of clinical depression/anxiety with the appropriate treatment plan & with your support she will navigate herself back to good mental health 💐

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 16:01

@SoyYo hoping the Paris trip has gone well.

Huffthepuff · 10/01/2019 16:07

Sorry to hear about your dd Soups. You sound like you are doing a great job with everything you're doing for her. I hope she gets the rest she needs and starts to feel better. I hope you still manage to enjoy your birthday and don't let the worry overwhelm you. The pressure of adding extra worry to your family is an burden I remember from my student days.

@Laska2Meryls wowsers! Burgundy leather trousers, pink Meryl and your hair colour is an incredible combination! You really must keep!

@NotAnActualSheep what a result! The skirt and jumper look fab and the cords (which you weren't allowed to keep anyway) are too big! Great stuff. What size did you order in the jumper? I may have to revisit. So the colours go well together? Hard to see in photo. I'm planning to style the skirt with a old plaited tan leather belt, to synch in the waist a bit. Also wondered if it wouldn't work for autumn /winter if worn with thick tights and brown chunky boots? I'm going to experiment when mine arrives... in my head I'd planned to wear it with a Breton top until the weather warms up but I love the way you're wearing it with the sweater

ilovecherries · 10/01/2019 16:15

not, I love that jumper. The other toast one was just too itchy for me, but I’m still very tempted by that one. What’s the sizing/softness like?

twosoups1972 · 10/01/2019 16:19

Thank you huff and melen tbh I feel a bit broken inside knowing my child is unhappy but that's not going to help her. I need to be strong for her and make her see that this isn't the end of the world, just a blip, and she will be ok.

FuzzyCustard · 10/01/2019 16:26

I received the new Wrap catalogue today and was looking forward to a nice browse.

SO disappointed...everything looks like a rubbish version of my old Mum's Land Army uniform, but without the kudos! Crumpled trousers in paper-bag brown. (OK they looked fine on the model, but she is about 20, very slim and beautiful....wouldn't be at all the same on me!)

FuzzyCustard · 10/01/2019 16:29

twosoups, I was a terrible miserable teenager, quite convinced the world was a huge conspiracy against me. I did grow out of it, and I hope this is just a temporary phase for your DD too. It's probably worse for you looking on and helpless (apart from the parental love).

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 16:32

Soups that’s it exactly, it’s so difficult when your child is hurting but with support, love & encouragement she will come through this & you are right it isn’t the end of the world, once she is on a more emotionally even keel she can pick up where she left off, makes it a bit easier as she is young & having education interrupted, for what ever reason is fairly commonplace, I know with my two they have definitely had episodes of life getting the better of them & the worry almost consumes you, but you can get through it & you will.

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 16:34

😂 Fuzzy at the landgirl reference ikwym though I do wonder sometimes why so much of the ‘droopy sludgy look’ don’t think it does many any favours.

NotAnActualSheep · 10/01/2019 16:38

soups - I think cherries, ella and len have given really good advice, and with some experience too Star - I don't have that, but I think seeing how your DD feels is good advice, and to let her take it at her own pace. I hope you come to a decision that is right for you all. As you say, maybe things will be different for her birthday in a few months, so even if she isn't up for that now, she may be later. More Flowers and Brew for you all.

And thanks ella, huff and cherries! The jumper is an M - which is fine for me (loose, but not oversized...it says an M is 12-14 which seems accurate) and it is really soft. It's got some cotton in it which makes it much softer than just wool (not quite cashmere softness, but not far off), if that is an issue for you cherries. I love the idea of styling the skirt with a tan belt and boots...I'm going to give that a go huff. I was aiming for the look in the photo of the other fairisle jumper (which I also love, but not for twice the ££) and the colours aren't quite as good (the greens don't quite match) but I still think they work together. It looks like you could pair it with quite a lot of stuff now and when it gets a bit warmer...

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 16:47

Not I reckon that skirt will be really versatile, as it lends itself not just to winter with cosy jumpers/boots/brogues but also when it gets warmer with tshirt/croped cardi also think think pink would look good with it.

FuzzyCustard · 10/01/2019 17:15

not Another one who loves that skirt on you. It looks as though it will also be very useful (that sounds boring, I don't mean it like that) and earn its keep in your wardrobe.

ilovecherries · 10/01/2019 19:38

Have been packing for going on holiday at the weekend and rather than randomly cramming stuff in as is my usual, have been trying to do some outfit planning. Daytime will just be outdoor wear but nights will be:

Sidestripe dylan trousers (in black) with the insect wrap shirt and black patent brogues

Black leather leggings with lightning bolt raglan top, a charcoal Sabrina rip-off from H&M and black star trainers from next

Snakeskin marina with black cashmere boatneck and black fly boots

Burgundy leather skirt from Spain with pink oversized cashmere from M&S (a la Laska, it’s a combo I wouldn’t have thought of), opaques and black patent brogues.

Red whistles Lola dress with heatgen underneath, tights and fly boots.

Does that all sound ok? Winter clothes are so bulky to pack. During the day will either be wearing full on walking gear or if it’s a less active day, straight leg slim jeans and big chunky jumpers.

Sounds like a fabulous wardbrobe :)

wearenotacodfish · 10/01/2019 19:59

@ilovecherries your holiday wardrobe sounds fabulous I'm very impressed by your capsule skillz. I always try to do this but I panic and shove loads or random stuff in. Are you going anywhere nice?

Laska2Meryls · 10/01/2019 20:02

I'm sort of surprised.. I always though Burgundy/pink was a classic combination..

What do you all usually wear burgundy with ?
Not you look fab ( and like a Toast model) in that skirt.

I have just totted up my spends ( and what Hush owes me in refunds -£410!) ,and done my bank account..and that really has to be It for this month unless I am going to dip into savings ..

I sent back the Spanx and taking back the H&M Pu trousers ( dont bother , they are yuk) , and also decided to send back a plain black Boden cashmere jumper that arrived 24th Dec.. (id forgotten about this , It was back order , and I had been in two minds to keep it anyway)

neveradullmoment99 · 10/01/2019 20:23

Burgundy and navy is nice. I like burgundy and pink. If you think of burgundy and add white it would turn in to pink. Any shade of the same colour works.
I am waiting for refunds too @Laska. Still have the Alford boots but haven't worn them. I do really like them though. Still could send back if something nicer comes along.

ilovecherries · 10/01/2019 20:28

I would usually wear burgundy with navy, sky blue or cream. I would have assumed pink clashed, but it’s lovely.

Laska2Meryls · 10/01/2019 20:30

Not I love the Toast Skirt and the jeans from yesterday (I also love the Fairisle jumper you didn't buy).. I hope your Dd soon feels a bit better for the rest, its so hard when your child is having a hard time..

I had to go out to take some photos locally for work this pm and walked. My, it was bitter. I wore my lovely red Toast jumper under my jacket though which kept me warm .

fuzzy, did I say just how much I loved the Poetry skirt.. ? good job I have done my finances,, That's all I can say ..

Fudge so did you get anything in the sales?

Cherries Your wardrobe sounds good. Where are you going? Is it a UK walking holiday?

Oh, and I have decided to take the bag I bought in TKmaxx yesterday back also . so that's going back tomorrow. Buying the leggings (assuming DH s doesn't fall about laughing at me in them ) has to be accommodated somehow!

Laska2Meryls · 10/01/2019 20:32

I like Burgundy and Orange!! I have worn my JL Orange cashmere jumper (which I had on up thread) with my Burgundy Marina .. also often wear burgundy with Black or Cerise

Laska2Meryls · 10/01/2019 20:34

Have also with navy and coral .. but never have with with sky blue, or cream.. But I dont really pastels
