My scarlet crew neck jumper in the next size up arrived I think I prefer it although I can't be bothered to try it on properly to check. Does anyone wise get like this?

dontcallmelen · 09/01/2019 19:47

Fuzzy that really is a lovely skirt.

FuzzyCustard · 09/01/2019 19:49

Aw thanks people. I have no confidence aboiut what I should be wearing so I am heartened by your support!

dontcallmelen · 09/01/2019 19:51

Fuzzy you will get lots of support & ideas here on the thread, also really useful are the pics, you can see how posters style stuff.
Not those jeans really suit you.

ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 20:06

That is a gorgeous skirt fuzzy. Poetry stuff is so beautifully made.

Thanks Ella- must be great having someone in the know about these things!!

Oooh, bug - are you in Scotland too? (Aberdeen?) I didn't know that about the Jenners Christmas tree ( though I can't remember when I was last in there...may have been before it was all decked out)... it must be awful for the people who work there to see it change so much so quickly..though they do at least still have their jobs I suppose.

fuzzycustard that is a properly beautiful skirt! Yy to styling it with a chunky jumper and standing on a windswept moor. I'm glad you love it. And len is right, that this thread is great for suggestions on styling and really supportive (and not enabling at all, oh no...). But also not afraid of some harsh truths at times Grin ( in a nice way!) (Thanks for the jeans comment len BTW!)

codfish - I have the Scarlett jumper in an M which is my "larger normal" size for tops Confused (I'd normally go for an S for their usual oversized stuff)...I think some of the reviews, or some people on here suggested it was sized on the smaller side, and I'd agree...it's loose, but not overly so which is fine, so I think that size works for me, and I like it. Mind you, I do sometimes think hush sizing is totally random, and they only make one size of thing and put different labels on. I have one jumper in an L cos that was all they had, and I saw it in an M the other day...so I thought I'd try just to see the difference. Imperceptible as far as I'm concerned! and still half the width of an xs Meryl

I know what you mean about sometimes just not wanting to get changed again !!

I've just come back from Pilates. My legs feel very, very wobbly.

Huffthepuff · 09/01/2019 21:05

Ooh well done Not! Did you enjoy it?

twosoups1972 · 09/01/2019 23:34

Hello lovely people,

I've had a hard horrible day today. Had a call from dd's school, they were worried about her and didn't think she was up to sitting her mocks next week. They suggested I drive up to bring her home which is what I did. Looks like she will take the rest of the year off and restart Year 13 in September. She's not thrilled about doing this but she needs to get properly well. I feel emotionally worn out.

ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 23:51

Oh no, soups that’s hard. Poor girl (and you). Life is just so stressful for young people nowadays.

wearenotacodfish · 10/01/2019 07:44

@twosoups1972 I don't know the details about your daughter but I hope she is okay. Are there no other options such as doing year 13 at college?

AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo · 10/01/2019 08:17

Hi! Long time lurker, I usually follow what you’re all buying and wistfully dream of having the cash for something new. I’ve just seen the Meg skirt which I’ve been listing after is on sale.

Has anyone bought the Meg skirt? How does it come up for size? Thank you!

NotAnActualSheep · 10/01/2019 09:21

Oh soups. So sorry to hear that. It must be so hard for you all, but at least she knows that she has a safe place with her family to recover in her own time Flowers.

I did enjoy it huff. Though it turns out I have been breathing wrong all these years... And my balance is pretty atrocious! Anyway, we all have to start somewhere...

Waves to marzipandildo Grin (those are words I never thought I'd have to type...) I don't have the Meg skirt, but I know others have ( there was some issue with the hem on a few I think?) who I'm sure can help you with sizing. I agree it looks lovely.

ilovecherries · 10/01/2019 09:32

marzipan (love your user name!), I had the Meg, and sent it back, as I felt the hem was really poor an unfinished. However, it’s a lovely skirt and I know others haven’t had a problem with it. Florence is identical, but is properly hemmed. I found for me it was on the tight side (not just against hush sizing but against other high street shops where I pretty much always take a 12). I couldn’t get a 12 on, and the 14 was ‘just’ ok and no more. Having said that, my waist is not my best asset and if yours is in better proportion to your hips, it may well be fine for you.

Ellapaella · 10/01/2019 09:49

@AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo I have the Meg skirt - the zebra one. It's a lovely skirt, haven't had an issue with the hem personally and I've worn it a fair bit. I'm a large 10 (as in probably a size 11 if it existed) and the 10 fits me nicely. I am very straight up and down though with no hips.

@twosoups1972 sorry to hear your dd is having troubles. At home with you to keep an eye out and look after and support her hopefully things will get a little better. It's a difficult age, I had an episode of clinical depression at that age myself, I had to take a year out from college, have some talking therapy and finish a year later. It came from nowhere. If it's any consolation I've never had an episode of depression like that since then. I finished college a year later, went off to uni and all was well. Sending hugs.

AFingerofFudge · 10/01/2019 09:51

Hi all!!
I'm on annual leave this week which means I've been gadding about here and there and it's been brill.
I've had a hugely unsuccessful time with internet shopping in the sales. Almost everything I've ordered (Hush, Boden, Next etc) has gone back and now I'm waiting for refunds so I can buy other things!

The Hush oversize shirt went back. I hadn't realised it had a frayed edge and that coupled with the fact the colour made me look drained meant it went straight back.
I'm still dithering about the Hush Jones lurex jumper and the aurelie bag so when I'm at home I'll post a picture for honest opinions!

So, I've decided to capitalise on the fact DS1 hasn't returned to uni yet (he goes Saturday) and so he's around to collect DS3 from school (who is only 10 so still needs collecting) and so I'm heading to London!! Yahoo!!! It's about and hour and a half on the train, so I'm on the train at the minute. Will head to John Lewis at Oxford Street to take full advantage of their clearance and to buy stuff that I've actually seen in the flesh!

soups unmumsnetty hugs to you as it's a hard thing to go through x

Ellapaella · 10/01/2019 09:59

@ilovecherries inspired by your sock thread last night (had long been thinking about whether visible socks with trainers were acceptable) I've ordered 3 pairs of jazzy socks to come today. I'll feed back when they arrive.

AFingerofFudge · 10/01/2019 10:03

Hush seem to have reduced some things further this morning

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 10:10

Fudge ooh have a lovely time, sometimes you just need to get into the shops & have a good ol rummage.
Soup so sorry to hear about dd, a big hug n cuddle from me 💐

ilovecherries · 10/01/2019 10:16

Oh, where did you get them from, Ella? Your links on the other thread didn’t work. I’m not sure if I’m really a glitter sock person but I am hoping to find a tastefully patterned merino. I just can’t cope with half my trousers out of commission!

OP posts:
Talisin · 10/01/2019 10:25

Ooh, so new things added to the sale as well as further price cuts. Emanuelle dress, Halo jumper, Lurex Stripe skirt were definitely not there before.

twosoups1972 · 10/01/2019 10:46

Thank you all so much for your kind words of support. This is truly a lovely corner of MN.

@ellapaella thank you for sharing your experience, good to know you came out the other side ok. I have told dd that this is just a bump in the road in life and we will get through it together. I'm organising a psychiatrist appointment for her who will possibly prescribe some medication. I am trying very hard to keep my worries from her as I know she worries about ME worrying!

At the moment she needs to sleep and not think about work or anything else. I'm going to let her sleep whenever she wants and worry about getting back into a normal sleep pattern later on down the line.

Clothes chat is a welcome relief for me. I've got 2 dresses from Hush - Imogen and Tansy to try, also the cream jumper from Mint Velvet.

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 10:59

Soups I think that’s the best approach at the moment & hopefully the psychiatrist will be helpful & I know that the thought of medication is somewhat scary, but sometimes a short term intervention can be really beneficial & help with thought process/anxiety, yy Ella experience many many people have an episode of clinical depression & with the right treatment plan, life does go back to normal & the good thing is at her age it is not to difficult to pick up where she left off.
It can be a slow process, but she has your support & help in navigating her way back to good mental health.

dontcallmelen · 10/01/2019 11:00

Soup love that cream jumper, hope it’s a keeper.

EachandEveryone · 10/01/2019 11:22

Ive been through the sale stock again and nothings really jumping out.

wearenotacodfish · 10/01/2019 11:31

@twosoups1972 I wasn't sure if the issue was a school one but it's obviously more serious. One of my friends had an episode just after we finished uni and although it took her about a year to get better she hasn't relapsed since and now does something busy and important in HR. I hope your daughter gets the support she needs.
