The one thing I don't have is a decent black bag.. I mosty use a really ancient dark Brown Mulberry Effie ( from the days when they made them all here) . But it's really heavy leather and like a saddle bag.. Love it but it also needs a rest and refurb right now.

Huffthepuff · 09/01/2019 13:56

@NotAnActualSheep you're a star, thank you. To be honest I'm not sure the 10 will fit me anyway although reviews on the current stock suggest, like you say, that they are on the larger side. I ordered the 12 in the skirt and that's a slightly large fit on me but couldn't go any smaller.

Huffthepuff · 09/01/2019 13:58

Fantastic reductions compared to the Toast website as you say, you did well Not!

NotAnActualSheep · 09/01/2019 14:08

These are the jeans and top. (I don't "do" tucked in tops...but just to show the jeans).

Hush sample sales confirmed 1st and 2nd February for those interested.

ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 14:19

Ohhh - do I want to spend my birthday in a rammy at the Hush sale...

OP posts:
Swimminguphill · 09/01/2019 14:20

Thank you Ella!

NotAnActualSheep · 09/01/2019 14:24

Yes huff - it seems that on the skirt (which I don't have yet) and these that people are saying the waist is on the smaller side. But I'm not sure if that's compared to "normal toast" (which I don't have any of...so not sure what that means!) or generally. There was a non-labelled pair too, which I thought could be a 12...so tried on for the hell of it (it was actually a 10 as the label was caught in the pocket). They did physically fit me, though were really not a good look over the hips! (Though my hips are solidly 14). So if you're a small 12, a 10 could be OK?

I'm rubbish at bags I'm afraid Laska. I'm carrying all my belongings round in a yellow fjallraven kanken at the moment which I'm sure is neither stylish nor beautiful, but v v comfy and BIG.

fairiesandelves · 09/01/2019 14:40

Ooo thanks* @Ellapaella* where in London is it please ?

Huffthepuff · 09/01/2019 15:00

Haha yes @NotAnActualSheep! There's a lot of that! I think the Hush reviews are a bit the same. People are so used to their ridiculous oversizing that when something is true to size it causes (understandably) uproar. To fit an Xs and a medium in the same brand is bonkers

The whole outfit looks brilliant. You look like a Toast model! They fit you so well. You absolutely should wear the top tucked into the jeans. That's where you get the benefit from mom jeans is that lovely slimming effect from the high rise at the back. Don't hide the top of the jeans, they look way too good for that.

ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 15:32

You look great, Not. Is it Glasgow JL that has a Hush concession now?

Laska, haven’t heard to the brand, but that means nothing! It looks a good bag.

Ella - my Mango refund has just this minute arrived.

ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 16:04

I’ve packed up the leather midi skirt to go back. Have decided anything that is causing me angst probably isn’t the right purchase. Have also sent back the Hush Florence. It’s a pretty skirt, but somehow not doing it for me. I’m going to keep the leather leggings though (I think!). They had a burgundy pair in a 10 earlier, and I did consider it but I’m already waiting for a refund for the 12 AND the damaged 10 from yesterday and just can’t have another £200 sitting out - especiallyas my big worry is that the one they have in stock today are the damaged ones! I would be beyond annoyed if that was the case. So I think I will just wear the black ones (which are possibly more versatile anyway) and be content.

OP posts:
ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 16:05

Not a HUSH concession. I know they do! I meant a Toast one?

OP posts:
Laska2Meryls · 09/01/2019 16:13

Surely it would be too soon for your return to have hit though cherries I'd probably risk it

Laska2Meryls · 09/01/2019 16:15

Ah but gone anyway... Would you go for the green if any came back in?

NotAnActualSheep · 09/01/2019 16:27

Thanks ella - how did you find out about that? I haven't received an email (though, to be fair - they probably only send them to people in a certain radius of London!)

And thanks huff and cherries. It's another shape that I'm not used to, so am never sure what looks right... I do like the high waist, though, and it is very comfy!

It's Edinburgh, cherries. They have had a random single rail of toast for a year or so that I never really looked at, but since they've been revamping the store they now have a bigger area and can actually display the clothes (they've also really gone big on the hush concession - putting it where MV used to be, right at the top of the escalators). Mind you - I'm feeling sorry for them (Edinburgh JL) at the moment - there only ever seems to be half the people there used to be in there because of all the building work around it to build the giant golden turd. Hope it doesn't go bust.... though I am doing my best to keep it afloat single handedly

cherries -Mango must have been reading this thread! Shame about the skirt - but you are probably right...if you are uncertain, it probably wouldn't get the wear it deserves. And yeah for the leggings! They do look amazing on you.

ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 16:35

That’s what I thought initially, Laska, but I checked RM and two of the three parcels I sent back yesterday have already been received, so am worried the leggings are already back. I would consider green but I also just want to start wearing the black - can’t hold onto them indefinitely waiting for something better. If they would just refund SOMETHING I’d be willing to take a punt, but I have a list of pending refunds a mile long. The cashmere dress and jada tunic was a big order and it’s been outstanding for ages.

I must try JL in Edinburgh again not. I was there in June and it actually felt quite depressing, between the surroundings and then the instore renovations - everything was so crushed together. The Newcastle one has spoiled me slightly.

OP posts:
NotAnActualSheep · 09/01/2019 17:06

yy cherries - totally depressing. I can't remember exactly when it started to improve slightly - but I think after June when they reopened the road (and as I said, I've only noticed the "new" bits now after Christmas...though they may have been there for longer as I am generally spectacularly unobservant). I was put off from going for ages as it was such a faff to get to when the road outside was closed, and they had boarded off bits inside the store! and they also stopped sending me my free coffee voucher because I hadn't signed up to their post-GDPR mailing list At one point they had staff posted around the escalators to randomly apologise to people 'cos everyone was so annoyed that things weren't where they should be and it was all so cramped... (The DS of my DPs ex-neighbour (tenuous link) worked in one of the "design" departments and apparently they have had such a bad time over the past couple of years he's been seconded down to London). It's not perfect now, and you still can't get to it directly from the main shopping area along Princes St/ St Andrew's square but the main clothes floor is now OK, and I quite like the cafe bit with the sofas on the top floor.

But you're right - I was in the Birmingham one a few months ago - and although people don't seem to like that one generally, it felt so open and easy to navigate!

But don't get me started on Jenners post Mike Ashley..

sorry - niche Scottish department store whinging...just carry on

ilovecherries · 09/01/2019 17:27

Poor Jenner’s :(. How the mighty have fallen. Not sure where all the Morningside Ladies will go for coffee now :(. I was in Binns in Darlington the other day, which is also now part of his empire, and it was hideous. Cheap stuff piled everywhere and most of the brands gone or terribly depleted.

On the plus side - My refund for the cashmere dress and jada tunic has just landed, so hopefully that’s them starting to get on top of the 20% returns now.

HLBug · 09/01/2019 17:44

Not to derail the thread, but agree entirely with the Scottish department store chat. JL in Edinburgh is just so sad - it's a proper effort to get down there. The Hush concession was at the top of the escalators when I was there in November though. Didn't notice Toast but I wasn't there long and was on a desperate Marina hunt. Desperately wishing for a Hush concession in JL Aberdeen...maybe one day!

And poor old Jenner's. Again, when there in November I was speaking to the girls on the Kiehls stand about how sad it was to see H of F at the other end of Princes Street shut, and we got on to the topic of Jenner's being such an institution. No idea if this is true, but the girls were telling me that Mike Ashley wasn't planning to order them a big Christmas tree this year but the store manager made such a fuss (staff were even going to help pay I think!) that in the end he gave in and they got their tree. I mean...can you imagine Jenner's at Christmas with no big tree??

Anyway - back to clothes Wink

Ellapaella · 09/01/2019 17:44

@NotAnActualSheep my friends daughters flat mate works in some form of fashion PR role in London and is in the know, my friends daughter told me as she knows I'm a Hush fan. Don't know venue yet, she's going to let me know. I'll let you know when I find out. My sister in Law lives in central London so I may pay a visit and go to the sales.

May I show you my Poetry skirt?

www.poetryfashion.co.uk/product-VE13-POESDS/dresses-skirts/linen-cotton-and-wool-blend-skirt.htm

I think I am specially pleased as I have lost some weight and a 14 fits me very well now so I ma doubly chuffed! I wore it at the weekend and actually got complimented!

Ellapaella · 09/01/2019 19:06

Oh that's lovely @FuzzyCustard! Beautiful. Love it styled with the jumper in the picture as well.

FuzzyCustard · 09/01/2019 19:11

Thank you Ella. I wore it with a grey fair isle jumper and felt smart!

Huffthepuff · 09/01/2019 19:20

Oh Fuzzy that's extremely lovely... what a fantastic buy
