Well posting late. Have been really busy as i have been painting dd's bedroom and my hall. Sorting wardrobes and getting rid of clutter. So a quick tound up of purchases recieved yesterday. Stud Alford boots not sure they are me. Too pointy i think and squeeze my baby toe so think going back. Leather skirt is lovely leather bit need to try properly. I think its quite big but a 12 would be too tight in waist. Its a decent length. Going to try before work tomorrow and see how i feel about it all. So tired. Will read back later 😀

SpeckledyHen · 07/01/2019 07:28

Thank you Ella I should have pushed the button on 20% !

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2019 09:28

Morning ! Just popping in quickly to answer gin..That oslo skirt I got was a 14 (all they had in and they still have one at the mo ) it has an wide ruched elasticated waist and its only about 10in wide when not on, so i reckon unless you are really small, it will still fit you

cherries hope the size10 leggings fit you . i'd really just like the burgundy but yes they probably wont be back in a 10 now

Back in a bit

ilovecherries · 07/01/2019 09:50

Ok, here are the leather leggings in a 10. Please tell me

A) am I ridiculous. Do I just want leather trousers because at a size 24, they are firmly in the ‘clothes that you will never be deserving enough to wear’ category and they therefore symbolise something to me. Which is nice, but maybe leather trousers don’t need to be the symbol. I’m 61 in three weeks. I guess some of you have mothers that age. Is it just mortifying? I need the truth here (I actually really do!). I’m all for wearing what you want, but I also have some dignity and don’t want to be ridiculous.

B) do they look ok on my actual body (not thinking about my age, just my shape). Do they give me huge jodhpurs hips? They would always be dressed down for me - ie trainers, ankle boots, big jumpers, Never with high heels or tucked in tops. (Excuse current styling with running top - I was just leaving house to run when they were delivered, so wanted to try before I got all sweaty)

C) if I keep them, what does one wear as a coat? I’m guessing my Seasalt Janelle won’t cut it.

Delurking (again!) to say that there is only one question you need to ask Cherries - do you love them?

If you do keep them - if not wait until something you love comes along and buy that instead.

I am a similar age to you (62) and would wear them if I loved them - I'm not keen myself so haven't bought any but it's not my age that's stopping me

EachandEveryone · 07/01/2019 10:16

Did you have to sign for your parcels? Ive had a card through the door and I don’t know what else it could be.

ilovecherries · 07/01/2019 10:17

That’s the question I’m finding hard to answer. I do love them. But do I love them because of what they symbolise for me? I live now in a body I (still!) don’t recognise and I really struggle to know what suits it, and what is a reaction to such dramatic weight loss. I know I’m not really making sense. Im not talking about dropping a few pounds because I felt a bit chubby, in my case, I lost a whole person. And I’m not sure what to do with the one that’s left sometimes!

ilovecherries · 07/01/2019 10:18

No, you don’t have to sign for hush parcels.

dontcallmelen · 07/01/2019 10:21

Cherries I think they look good on you & don’t think they are ridiculous maybe if you wore them with skyscraper heels & a skimpy top then at our age would look a bit strange, but with trainer a blazer or longish cardi or slouchy jumper would look very good, yy you have to love them otherwise they just end up in the back of the wardrobe.

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2019 10:22

Yes!!!! keep them!! fab fab fab , Envy

This 61 yr old has ordered fake ones now .. these in wine

and these as they are so cheap (but not expecting them to be much good

dontcallmelen · 07/01/2019 10:24

Cherries it must be hard such a hugh adjustment of a mindset, I say just try & embrace it experiment & enjoy, not many people manage to do what you have done.

dontcallmelen · 07/01/2019 10:33

Never crikey you have been busy, I’m going to start on doing hallway very soon you have spurred me on, will look forward to seeing the skirt.

dontcallmelen · 07/01/2019 10:39

Ooh Laska they look very good.

dontcallmelen · 07/01/2019 10:40

@SoyYo hope all is ok & Paris trip goes well.

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2019 10:52

actually i ordered those Spanx ones in wine from these people .. they had free deliver and 10% off for new customers plus 5% quidco. so better deal if anyone interested .. Ill post when they come -assuming I dont too too silly in them --

twosoups1972 · 07/01/2019 10:55

cherries keep them! They look great

twosoups1972 · 07/01/2019 10:58

laska I was also looking at those ones from Selfridges. Please report back!

I haven't had much luck with Hush dress sizing. Ordered a Tansy dress in a 10 after reading reviews saying size down - way too tight over bust and shoulders/arms. I'm going to try a 12 but suspect it will be too big on my lower half. Also got an Imogen dress in a 12 (my usual size) and it doesn't do up over my bust! It's a really lovely dress though and I have (reluctantly) ordered a 14.

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2019 11:07

I'm hoping the Spanx ones will be good two Soups also they can be washed , (which is good for me as I am a right mucky pup)

ilovecherries · 07/01/2019 11:25

Just back from my 5K. (Twirls). soups, I wouldn’t be too despondent about the 14. I find anything non-stretchy from Hush is very lacking in boob-space. I tried the Emmanuel at one point and even a 16 wouldn’t fasten over the bust.

twosoups1972 · 07/01/2019 11:27

Thank you cherries I should have gone for a run this morning but decided to go back to sleep instead Blush Please say you are keeping the fab leather leggings!

Laska2Meryls · 07/01/2019 11:39

Gin ihave now measured my Oslo skirt, which is a 14. The waist is 10" (from side to side ) un-stretched but goes up to 19"stretched . It has a deep shirred waistband of about 3" and the total length of the skirt is 16" but as its so stretchy and flared it can be won lower on the hips.. Hope that is useful

GinandGingerBeer · 07/01/2019 16:29

Thanks @Laska, very kind of you to measure it for me, I've ordered the 14, have put weight on over winter and I'm nearer 10 stone now so I'll see what it's like, you looked great in yours.
Please do post pics of the spanx and H&M leggings when they come. The H&M ones do have great reviews, I've still not managed to find any faux ones that are quite right.
I wish I lived nearer London then I'd go to the next hush sample sale and try and bag a pair of real ones!

GinandGingerBeer · 07/01/2019 16:39

@ilovecherries you look ace. Leather is just a material, you have skirts, which you look great in too, so why not trousers? Sod convention. Sod age, it really is just a number. ( I would never have guessed your age btw, you definitely don't look anywhere near 60!)
Hold your head high and keep 'em as your reward for completing 10k I say.

neveradullmoment99 · 07/01/2019 16:45

Ok so Quick picks. Help me decide between the boots and leather skirt
