I really like your collarless biker jacket too - where's it from?

UtahGirl12 · 05/01/2019 00:22

Yes, the Holly W dress was bought just before Xmas. It has a black strip up the side and an elasticated waist. The biker jacket is from Wallis. I have one in grey, black and beige! I have really big boobs and can’t do the side zip ones, I have to have a centre zip! Thank you for for your compliment too! I’m fat, fifty and frumpy at the moment. I’m not who I want to be and I have to change that.

neveradullmoment99 · 05/01/2019 01:41

Love both your outfits @utahgirl. I think i remember you posting about the M&S dress. I think you look brilliant in it. Pattern/ colour amazing combo. You suit it.😀

ilovecherries · 05/01/2019 07:37

You look lovely utah.

I’m feeling a bit sad today. Just about to take DD and DH to the train as they are going to London to see Hamilton tonight. DH will be home tomorrow but DD will stay on the train and go back to Scotland. Has been so nice having her here for two weeks, shall miss her terribly. Although in fact will see her briefly on Friday as we she is taking care of dog for a week while DH and I go on holiday. I am of course biased, but she is such a nice person to have around.

Ah cherries it must be hard to say goodbye. But lovely that you have such a good relationship. I know what you mean though - I always feel a bit bereft after saying goodbye to my family when they come to stay, I know it'll be weeks before i see them again and it's hard. Thanks

NotAnActualSheep · 05/01/2019 09:37

Ella I'm definitely going to seek out that film...I love that kind of historical stuff and a sucker for both those actresses. Your proposed outfit sounds fab.

I'm so glad your parcel works for you soy!! Was feeling a bit left out having several things I wanted to keep from the sales I'd love to see the trousers on you...as I said, they didn't work for me at all... the tapering was a disaster, and too baggy at the waist, yet also too tight at the same time Confused. But just goes to show there's not going to be a universally flattering thing... Though my body shape is totally different to Laska and cherries (and you)... my waist is comparatively small (29/30 and ideally less) but my hips/ bum are enormous (41.5 at the moment ShockAngry but seldom go below 40). I so need to stop eating.

len I'm glad you had a good time yesterday, and impressed at your no spending.

Utah your outfits look amazing!! I love the way you've styled both. Simple but really stylish. I especially love the marina (biased...) and the dress is lovely on you as others have said.

cherries Flowers. It must be so difficult letting even grown up children go, but as Ella says, it is good you have such a lovely, mutually supportive relationship. I'm so glad my DPs have moved from the south coast much closer to us, and not just for babysitting purposes but we can pop round for an afternoon much more frequently without months going by without seeing them...

I reached Peak Lazy this morning, getting a taxi for a 10 min walk to DSs swimming...we were in it for about 2 mins! Blush In fairness, his lesson did start in 6 minutes and although we had run halfway, we were not going to make it on time... Gah...none of us are coping with Getting Up at the moment.

SoyYo · 05/01/2019 10:14

@utah I think you look fantastic love the styling. Thank you for posting and the marina snake is such a fab skirt Smile
@not I’m still in my dressing gown so yes to struggling with mornings, next week I have to put my body clock back a whole hour when working in FR. Arghh
I think it’s good we all have different body shapes and share our fashion wins and fails here. I always look reasonably good in trousers and can carry off the check as my hips and legs are relatively smaller from my hefty upper body and you carry off dresses I can only dream of wearing and looking good in. So...as long as we all motivate each other to lose a little of the Xmas excesses I think we all look great in different ways and are beautiful whatever our shape...
@cherries my DS2 went back to Brighton earlier this week, he seems to be doing well but given recent events I do worry a lot and keeping in touch daily. Also miss his company, so I know how you feel
@melen glad you had a great day and bravo for not being tempted

dontcallmelen · 05/01/2019 10:17

UtahGirl you look really lovely & very stylish.
Cherries I feel for you, especially when you have had her home for two weeks enjoy your holiday.
Not yy to laziness I’m not even dressed yet, least you made the lesson.

dontcallmelen · 05/01/2019 10:20

Soy yy totally agree that’s what’s so good about this thread, all our different shapes & exchange of ideas.
Hope Ds is doing ok.

EachandEveryone · 05/01/2019 10:48

Cherries I’m totally envious of your relationship with your daughter. It made me well up reading that I wish my mother and sister had a quarter of what you have. Even though I’m 50 and we live 300 miles appart my mother has never once asked when I’m coming home infact my brother is getting g married next month and she’s only just passed on the invites to both myself and my sister!! She’s really not maternal🙄

dontcallmelen · 05/01/2019 11:15

Each aww that makes for very sad reading, I think no matter how old we get if it’s at all possible we still want to feel as though our Mums love & cherish us & always have our best interests at heart 💐

HLBug · 05/01/2019 11:35

My sale parcel arrived!! Wasn't expecting it until Tuesday so a nice surprise. Most of it (thankfully for my bank balance) is a disaster (!) but there are a few things worth keeping : lightening bolt jumper, boots, Meg skirt and Haywood jacket (all in pics). Was particularly surprised by how nice the boots and jacket are as they "fell" into my basket at the last minute Blush

In terms of the no-keeps:

  • Domino Shirt Dress. But meh and shapeless. It's "ok" but not worth keeping as I don't love it.
  • Atlas Wrap Shirt - again, it's "ok" but it would end up at the back of the wardrobe as a "it'll do" piece. So back it goes.
  • Solitaire Midi - absolute disaster! Print and fabric is lovely but it's more of a maxi than a midi on me and just soooo frumpy!!
  • Iggy oversized skirt - not my style it would seem. Plus, cuffs are very tight so sleeves can't be rolled up - which would annoy me immensely.
  • LS Layered Jersey Dress - another disaster! It is really weird. Not at all flattering and is almost in two separate parts? Really confusing and just no.

Ohh and just realised I got a free returns label!! Wasn't expecting that so woohoo!

ilovecherries · 05/01/2019 12:17

Oh, each, that’s so sad. I’m very lucky with my dd. Leaving her health challenges (of which there are many and complex) aside, she’s never really given me a day’s worry. While she’s very independent - has travelled extensively on her own to quite remote places, is currently living alone in the family house to finish her degree while her dad and I live elsewhere with his work - there is rarely a day when she doesn’t make some contact with me, even if it’s just a quick text if she’s busy or somewhere remote. While I do miss her terribly, I’m very lucky she seems so willingly present in our lives, because I know a lot of her friends don’t have the same relationship with their parents.

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2019 14:06

HL all looks fab on you . like all of it . esp the lightening bolt jumper , (which i would buy , but I really, really have enough jumpers now ) What boots did you get?

Utah Girl I like the way you have styled es the marina slo .. i didn't get that one even though i loved it as have Marina in black and burgundy and B?W strip already Blush ..

cherries you are a Skinnyminny, definitely.. (its the leggings that were wrong, not us!) .. I love the fact that we 'real' people.. can make the clothes all look different, and yet we all look good in them !

SoyYo · 05/01/2019 14:26

Looking great laska! That Oslo mini really suits you, the boots are so nice as is the Toast patterned jumper. Big 👍 👊🙌

@Bug you’re looking terrific too, my fave is the skirt and yes the lightning bolt jumper also looks lovely. The jacket looks better on you that it did on me (I returned it) it’s got really nice gold thread bits you can’t see from your pic. I returned because it’s meant to be cropped like you wear it but on me it looked totally different. I agree on returning the weird jersey dress that was a return from me too earlier in autumn. You can feel virtuous with all your returns too!Wink

SoyYo · 05/01/2019 14:32

I’ve not taken pics yet as I’m drying my hair after its weekly deep condition treatment (i co wash in between) my hair takes FOREVER to dry...

Laska2Meryls · 05/01/2019 14:41

This is the pattern on the Lola scarf which I have also kept. Looks about darker irl though . It's huge like a wrap really and wool- definitely worth £20

HLBug · 05/01/2019 14:42

Thanks everyone and I agree that the Meg skirt and the jumper are worth keeping. Everything else has now been dutifully returned to the post office Halo

Laska they are the Newbury boots. Still expensive even in the sale, but actually they are great so I think I'll definitely get a good cost per wear ratio from them. Your new boots look super cosy and comfy- glad you like them. That toast jumper looks great on you.

Soy yes the haywood jacket is lovely with the gold thread. The fastening isn't great (bit shoogly) but I doubt I'd wear it fastened too often anyway. I have two high waisted black pencil skirts from the January hush sale last year, so the jacket will look good with them for work. And yes...that layered dress....totally bizarre!!! Glad I'm not the only one who was confused Grin
