kali 💐

teta · 07/02/2019 21:08

fuckery really nice but fairly cheap is M&S Island Escape - sea infused bergamot . Or L occitane Verveine which I adore but isn’t very long lasting or there is a new Rose Citrus one I haven’t tried yet.
Also Shay & Blue blood orange is fantastic. Or how about Clinique Happy?

Calmasasleepycat · 07/02/2019 21:20

Hello, this is me, Calm. Have namechanged. Thanks for the heads up earlier today, Floofy, about the site problems. This afternoon I deleted all emails both in and out.

I lost some enthusiasm for perfume following an allergic reaction on my arms. I think it was a combination of too many sprays on bare skin plus too many layers of clothing in the cold weather. Also, my liking for vintage perfume probably had something to do with it! Maybe too much oakmoss or something.😱 Anyway, it’s much improved and I’m using the skin on my hands and spraying my clothes as a temporary measure.

I tried Amouage “Love Tuberose” today (thanks to MrsL). This is a long-lasting tuberose/gardenia/jasmine with gourmand notes, which make it very sweet and creamy. I almost get toffee notes from it. It reminds me a little of some of the Britney Spears perfumes. Perhaps more classy though!

auberginesrus · 07/02/2019 21:36

Fuckery can I suggest Eau des Merveilles (Hermés) and Jour d'Hermes which both start off citrussy? They're both gorgeous and v classy

Calmasasleepycat · 07/02/2019 21:39

OhWhatFuckery, you could investigate some of the Brocard perfumes sold by Bloom. This is a range which uses some very well known perfumers and most of the prices are reasonable. I have Russian Princess, which was designed by Bertrand Duchaufour, has a beautiful over-the-top bottle and is only £27.

Calmasasleepycat · 07/02/2019 21:45

Or Guerlain’s Aqua Allegoria Lemon or Herba Fresca.

MrsMoggs · 07/02/2019 21:56

Or AA Pamplelune, or DKNY Women?

There is some Lemon Sherbert in the 4160T Naughty Cupboard (gourmand vanillary lemon). Staying with 4160, Shazam! is a huge feelgood hippie orange.

Lots of neroli (including a 7.5ml bottle) in the Niche II Perfume Society Box.

Destiel · 08/02/2019 08:54

Sotd Avon timeless

FloofyCatLovesPerfume · 08/02/2019 09:25

Well MNHQ seem to be confirming it wasn't a 3rd party back but an internal system error. I was prepared to delete my account but after over a decade here it felt too sad! So I have changed my email address on my MN account (to something without my RL name in Blush) and will make sure to empty my PMs etc constantly. I really don't care about people identifying my terrible perfume addiction in RL Grinbut given the threats to FWR I shall be more careful.

Kali I'm sorry for your loss. Timeless seems a good comforting funeral choice.

Fuckery i remember you - welcome back, you can never really leave the Hotel Perfumista! Fab suggestions so far, also the Atelier cologne gift set may be worth a punt then she has a choice? Lovely and fresh and light so a good choice for heavy handers? let us know what you decide?

Hurrah for sixth form offers and well done to Perfumista juniors! DD here is trying to decide between college or sixth form offers (including one from the place that was terribly judgey to meHmm) and it is almost taking up as much of her conversation as the bloody Leeds festival

In other news, I've bloody lost the vintage Amarige I found recently and have a horrible feeling it fell in the bin

SOTD the mandarin one from Yves Rocher. Not cutting it in the terrible weather. I might shower and go for Arpege.

Btw onenight how are you getting on?

Ollivander84 · 08/02/2019 09:28

SOTD gold sugar. I wanted something comforting and warm and sweet

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/02/2019 10:27

Destiel · 08/02/2019 10:31

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/02/2019 10:43

I tried to get him to look at is as classic chich eg a vintage gucci bag or something rather than old lady

Destiel · 08/02/2019 11:20

I'm now rocking tabu by dana.

Blimey.

Skank tastic!

Love it :)

Destiel · 08/02/2019 11:21

That's absolutely the right way to view it kali! :)

Its chic, ladylike and classy.

God knows why I like it! 🙄😂

Destiel · 08/02/2019 11:28

I love the fact that the guy that created tabu was told to make "a perfume for a whore"...

And this was the 60s!!!

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/02/2019 11:33

i would love the job of naming perfumes lipsticks nail varnishes etc

KaliforniaDreamz · 08/02/2019 11:33

skank - hahaa

teta · 08/02/2019 12:08

Boots are offering 1200 points on some large electrical goods today. We’ve just bought a tumble dryer. This will help fund the two dds make up habit and possibly my Clinique one. I was sent a double points Voucher for this month and was frantically searching for it. Of course it’s lost and the only of getting these extra points is to download the app. Which I promptly did!
Then realised there was no need🤦🏼‍♀️.
Sotd is Fleurs de Bach anti stress - very aniseedy with pot pourri influences. D.S. 1 says I smell of pizza. This might be a perfume he actually approves of 👍.

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 08/02/2019 13:03

SOTD is Tauer Reverie au jardin. This is such a fabulous lavender - fresh, luscious, almost edible. A million miles away from dusty pot-pourri connotations. Sadly it doesn't last very well on me, so I might have to have a spritz from the office desk drawer...might go for the Bella Freud.

Destiel · 08/02/2019 13:32

Sorry, tabu was created in 1932!

Georgianfairy · 08/02/2019 13:48

I also cba to namechange but I have deleted my inbox.

Sotd is MMM Sailing Day. Not especially long lasting but fresh and light and good for the office!

ToftheB · 08/02/2019 14:30

I’ve never heard of those Brocard perfumes @Calmasasleepycat but they look fabulous. I’m tempted to try a few samples. Have you tried any of the others?

MaudBaileysGreenTurban · 08/02/2019 14:58

I've got a sample of Brocade Tenderness - it's a lovely sweetpea soliflore, very fresh and pretty. And cheap as chips!

CountFosco · 08/02/2019 16:18

SotD ckOne for work. I feel very clean. Might need some skank this evening!
