I still think we could get a Regency announcement 3pm Christmas Day

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/12/2018 15:42

I honestly doubt it, Pawnee. The Queen's said to have a strong faith and I really can't see her making herself and Charles the main focus of one of the main Christian festivals

PawneeParksDept · 23/12/2018 15:42

The only time Sophie has ever put a foot wrong was in being duped by the Fake Shiekh which was hardly her fault she was set up

Next to Diana, Ferg, Camilla and Mark Philips she's been a positive saint and a boon to them, though they've servants and such I know Sophie and Edward seem the most involved and hands on in the Queen and Dukes old age

The real enigma is of course Tim Lawrence - virtually an invisible man about whom little is known beyond his former occupation

itswinetime · 23/12/2018 15:43

My attempt at dress a duchess I tried to keep ya things i could actually see Kate wearing so it's still pretty tame but day wear I'm going for jumpsuits

It's the only time she directly addresses the nation though, it can hardly be done via BP letterhead at the gates

And evening wear

Sorry for the confusion! This is the incident I meant:

(A regency announcement) can hardly be done via BP letterhead at the gates

Well, no - but the Regency Act had to go through parliament, so wouldn't it be parliament who announced it in some way? I'm honestly not sure ...

Clionba · 23/12/2018 15:57

I very much doubt that there will be a regency announcement. HM took a solemn oath, and will be monarch until she dies. However, changes are afoot, and she has handed more responsibility over to Charles, who has taken on more of the monarch's role. Eventually, she may only be nominally the Queen, Charles doing the bulk. She no longer lives at BP, but at Windsor, and travels less and less to London.

itswinetime · 23/12/2018 15:58

I don't think a regency will come a) just yet or b) at Christmas I don't know the process but there must be one and the one time of year everyone is off would be chaos wouldn't it. Plus aren't copies given out to the press so they can write about it in advance don't think they would risk it. She spoke to the nation after Diana protocol has been broken before no reason it couldn't be again.

Pawnee I couldn’t remember who the children were. But yes that’s the right program thank you.

Christmas 1987. Lovely picture although I think they look daft in kilts

itswinetime · 23/12/2018 16:18

ElspethFlashman if that is Sophie giving it with both barrels I think I must work with people with some serious anger issues Wink

Janecon · 23/12/2018 17:04

I'm surprised that Harry had 10 outriders - I regularly see the Queen in London and she only has 3! American visitors are always amazed as it is so different to the Presidential cavalcade.

Sorry - back to fashion. I thought Sophie looked lovely today and so did the Queen. I loved the Queen's coat and hat.

Moononthehill28 · 23/12/2018 17:06

I’ve just looked for A Royal Affair on Netflix but it’s not available!

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 23/12/2018 17:17

I know this has been spoken about upthread but I am glad the way Edward greeted Sophie after the bike ride was mentioned, I remember watching on tv and the joy and pride on Edwards face was so lovely to see as these pictures demonstrate, I really don’t believe the rumours about Edward they come across as a solid, happily married couple, I can never imagine them going their separate ways.

Have you ever seen the Queen leave the Derby - it’s a veritable convoy of Rolls Royce’s and Range Rovers, not to mention police and royal protection. I have already been asked to stick to the thread, despite various posters mentioning children, infertility, chefs and food. It would seem you must not post anything slightly critical.
As for being “taken down” by Ahoytheredelboy trust me it would take more than that, I didn’t realise we were all school girls.

itswinetime · 23/12/2018 17:30

Doesn't seem the ott to me most of the police seem to be doing crowd control and it looks like it's the queen in the car the. The rest of the royals in the mini bus I think you can just see anne at the front. So I guess that increases the number of police officers around.

Royals leave the Epsom derby

Want2bSupermum · 23/12/2018 17:30

Yes I've been busy today. My SIL was admitted to the hospital yesterday with very high infection numbers. DS had a major meltdown this morning and grabbed ornaments on the tree which were glass, thanks to PIL who thought I was being over the top when I asked if they could only put up plastic ones. Well now his hands are finally glass free and his face has a lot of small scratches. We spent the whole day in hospital, either cleaning up DS or getting my SIL ready for her 4 hour discharge tomorrow, as that's when they celebrate Christmas.

You guys call it stealth boasting but it's my life. So you don't want me to share. So I won't. I wrote my post yesterday because it was a repeat of a previous conversation on a previous thread. I don't care for talking badly about the DofS all the time. It's dull and it's unfair. I shared what happened at the beginning, one of her first engagements, to explain why some stories had made it through to the papers. She is learning and is going to make mistakes. Personally I think it's great we have a mixed race person in the British RF. I've found the PR around her nauseating at times but that's not her fault. She hasn't done anything 'wrong' and no, I can't get worked up over bump cradling, or touching hair.

Clionba · 23/12/2018 17:41

No one is down on the D of S on this thread. Most of us focus on style and general chat. Those that have been unfair have been called out.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/12/2018 17:43

So sorry to hear about your SIL, Want2b - and your DS too Flowers

user1457017537 · 23/12/2018 17:47

Cliomba called out for mentioning the lack of old friends and family at the wedding maybe? Whatever time will tell

Clionba · 23/12/2018 17:50

I don't understand your point? Who called out Meghan? I think she did have friends at the wedding. Having only her mum from the family was not really her fault.

CrookedMe · 23/12/2018 17:50

It's not that nobody wants to hear about your life, it's that you've been consistently and coyly unpleasant and indiscreet about MM through these threads, and are now playing the 'oh isn't gossip so common' card. It's most odd why there's been such a turnaround.

itswinetime · 23/12/2018 17:54

Not so subtle attempt to return to fashion her is max in a generational re wear.

I'm off to play dress a Dutches again Sophie or Meghan though that is the question?
