A lip liner would be nice. Preferably Stila.

diamondsandrose · 18/12/2018 19:27

Just on to say I'm also laughing to myself at the moaning again too

There's nothing here that I've not liked/loved/thought would be useful.

You've basically chosen to purchase a £1.40 a day lucky dip!
I'm DELIGHTED with mine

Love love the gloss/balm thing. It is NOT metallic or orange. Try it on! On it's a lovely nudey plumping sheen

playinthedarkness · 18/12/2018 19:40

Thanks for the new thread- enjoying this as much as opening my calendar Grin

BatPie · 18/12/2018 19:46

@diamondsandrose yes - that's EXACTLY the right attitude to have.

zucchinieggplant · 18/12/2018 19:55

Today was a stroke of luck as I finish my pot of sleep cream last night - one of my favourites from last year and I've been using it regularly ever since.
However...I am really loving the REN night cream which is a bit of a surprise. I didn't think it was very moisturising but my skin has gone really soft and smooth (I've been using it alternate nights).
No other major stand outs yet, I had high hopes for the hyasoft but not really noticed a difference from it. Also really pleased for a second eye cream as think the filorga was making my eyes itch.

BeaLola · 18/12/2018 19:57

I am hoping for handcream PLEASE M&S ! A couple of calendars back was a lovely Roget & Gallet rose onw which was great.

Trills · 18/12/2018 20:57

I love this night cream and I'm happy to have a small travel-sized one.

Re the lip gloss, I'm not unhappy because I think it's orange. I'm unhappy because I think it's basically "no colour".

Trills · 18/12/2018 20:58

And I don't even mind that not everything is for me, it's just that three lip things in a row have not been for me. Oh well. Never mind. Not whinging.

SlowNorris · 18/12/2018 21:20

Whinge away, I enjoy reading everyone’s thoughts Xmas Smile

Janecon · 18/12/2018 22:27

I'm relieved it's not just me that noticed the moaning. I've been a bit taken aback as I think it's amazing value for money. I love getting a treat each day and although I don't love everything I recognise that you can't please everyone all of the time.

LascellesMoustache · 18/12/2018 22:33

Havent been on the thread for a while but enjoying reading it.

So far I will buy the hair elastizer again, and also liked the mascara and eyeliner. I think the thing I like most about the calendar is that its a real mix of products. Im more of a make up person than skincare so for me its been nice to have some skincare treats to try out. Even things like the nailfile which isnt that exciting is still nice to have.

Trills · 18/12/2018 22:34

There's a difference between moaning and saying "I don't want/like this particular item", I think.

Trills · 18/12/2018 22:37

What have we got doubles of?

2 hair treatments
2 eye creams
2 night creams
2 basically-colourless lip things
Anything else?

We still have a few days to go though.

Trills · 18/12/2018 22:42

You can argue with me on the lip things and classify one as skincare-for-lip-skin and the other as makeup.

"lip skin" sounds a bit weird

Writersblock2 · 19/12/2018 01:22

20% off huh? Good job my Elasticizer was 30% off or I’d be kicking myself right now!

MiaN · 19/12/2018 06:03

2 hair treatments - one didn't work for me
2 eye creams - one didn't work for me
2 night creams - one didn't work for me
2 basically-colourless lip things - one didn't work for me

I am glad they had more than one option. I am in search of some new skimcare products and found it great to be able to try few. I think this is the best M&S advent calendar

MrsWidgerysLodger · 19/12/2018 06:14

I do think this year had been poorer than other years in terms of variety of content. That said I've still enjoyed trying everything out and will repurchase a couple of items too.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 19/12/2018 06:14

*has not had!

CrazySheepLady · 19/12/2018 06:36

I usually only wear bluster on rare occasions and don't have a specific brush so I'm happy with today's surprise.

Can I ask for some advice, ladies? Would the brush also be suitable for eyeshadow? I'm trying to start wearing a neural, pale eyeshadow with a little definition in the socket crease. Would this brush be useful at all, or do I need a different type?

panicovernow · 19/12/2018 06:53

I need a blusher brush so todays is good for me. I usually get the most use from the application products they put in.
I don't think this brush would be good for eyeshadow application as I think it would be too big for accuracy

MeetOnTheSIedge · 19/12/2018 06:56

It's too big and soft for eyeshadow. I already have a good blusher brush, I rarely wear it anyway, mostly I just use eye make-up, but I'll hang on to it.

lazymare · 19/12/2018 07:10

I'm 44 and never wore blusher until a year ago. It makes such a difference to my face though.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 19/12/2018 07:18

I wear a bit if I'm using tinted moisturiser (I never use foundation) but even that's fairly rare.

FlipFlapBat · 19/12/2018 07:31

I don’t think people have been moaning I think this has been a positive thread overall. People can have an opinion. I love my calendar and getting a treat each day. £35 isn’t throw away money, I’d never buy one of the very expensive calendars, but I think this is very, very good value.

A few items I’m less excited by but none so far I’d swap or give away. I think it’s been better than last years.

Today’s brush is a good one. My sister brought me a very expensive set of brushes last year but it’s really nice to have a travel size brush. I might use it with a loose powder compact for touch ups as I think it is just about big and soft enough, although if that doesn’t work I’ll definitely pop it in my travel bag.

Sparkletastic · 19/12/2018 07:32

Today's is handy as I'm off on holiday tomorrow and need a travel sized blusher brush. No good for eyeshadow to the poster that asked - far too big. Get yourself a starter pack from Real Techniques. They are excellent quality for the price and often on special offer in Superdrug.

Have decanted the rest of my boxes and packed them. The temptation was strong to open them all today but I'm enjoying mornings far more with a daily gift!
