Happy with today’s offering. It’s been an absolute pleasure reading this thread and taking part. I’d do it again just for that! 😘

Almostthere15 · 19/12/2018 07:40

I like today's. It's the perfect size for a make up bag, I have a full set of brushes but like having a couple in my bag so i don't need to move things around if I'm travelling.

I don't think saying you don't like products or being a bit disappointed is moaning. That's kind of the point of this thread isn't it. I guess it depends a lot on whether you feel you've spent 35 or 70 as well in some ways! Overall I've been pleased but there have been a few duds

latedecember1963 · 19/12/2018 07:43

Me too, Writersblock!

The Autograph blusher brush is £8.00 on the M&S website which brings our tally to £222.55. My current blusher brush is beginning to moult so this is a lovely replacement.

PrincessWatermelon · 19/12/2018 07:44

Well, just to balance things out, I'll add in a little 'moan' about today's Smile. I do use blusher but have a brush and don't travel so no need for a small version. Mind you, I accept there's nothing wrong with it, but I won't use it and it'd seem strange to give just that to someone when I'm keeping everything else!

MeetOnTheSIedge · 19/12/2018 07:48

I've really enjoyed being on the thread too, its far more fun having other people to compare notes with than just opening and trying things on my own.

Flightywoman · 19/12/2018 07:48

If you get yours free Batpie you perhaps don't realise that it's not actually a straight £35, it's at the least £70, because of the qualifying spend.

Flightywoman · 19/12/2018 07:50

It's a nice soft brush and will be a great stocking filler - I already have all the brushes I want or need!

It's not a total fail but it's not something I'll use.

As to the "whinging", are we supposed to be pathetically grateful that something we've bought isn't quite what we expected? Or has products that don't suit our skin? Or seems to, at the least, have a bit of a blip in the planning when 2 similar products are so close together?

Trills · 19/12/2018 08:05

@MiaN how can you tell an eye cream didn't work for you?
Do you mean you don't like the smell or texture, or you had a reaction? Or it didn't do the thing?
I'm asking because I have never quite worked out if eye creams DO anything, and if you can tell in a week whether one "works" or not then maybe you know something I don't!

Polpette · 19/12/2018 08:06

I'm going to refrain from moaning about the people moaning about the moaning!!

In other news, I used the Sleep Cream last night - it's fantastic. I also used it with the weird hydrating gel (but I think that's a product too far for me, I'll still finish the tube though).

Great to get a brush this morning, handy size and although I don't use blusher it should work nicely for my bronzer.

Anyone else enjoy stroking their face with new blusher brushes? Just me?! Soooo soft.

Polpette · 19/12/2018 08:09

Trills that's a really good question and one I've been thinking about as I always figured they were a long term investment to prevent damage later.

But this morning, after a few days of using these eye creams I noticed my under eye area looked plumper, no dark circles and just generally brighter...but that could equally be because I had my first decent full night's sleep in ages last night.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 19/12/2018 08:09

I put the sleep cream on last night, my dkin feels exactly the same as usual but I haven't looked in the mirror yet.

MysweetAudrina · 19/12/2018 08:30

I have to say the brush doesn't get a thumbs up from me. It did feel lovely and soft though when I brushed it over my face this morning. My favs so far are definitely the gel, night creams and eye creams. No idea if they are working but I like that I have been doing something nice for my skin and myself before I go to bed. I never wear blusher but if I did then I am sure the brush would be a good one. Can't say I noticed any moaning until it was pointed out and even then I don't think anyone was really moaning just expressing their pleasure at a particular product. Of course no one is going to love every product and thats the whole point of it for a lot of people, we get the try different products at a good price and then decide whether to invest in one or more of them. I like hearing the different views and how different people appreciate different products. I don't think it has anything to do with the cost of the calendar more to do with the surprise on the morning and whether its something you really wanted or something that you would never use. It's all part and parcel of the fun of it. I doubt anyone shed a tear (unless the eye cream caused it) or had a bad day because of it.

Hear hear to this!! Beautifully put.

As for today's brush it will be useful to me, but not in the way M&S planned. My 3 year old likes to pretend he's doing his make up when I'm doing mine. So this will be his brush - and hopefully he'll now leave my nice real techniques brush alone.

ajandjjmum · 19/12/2018 08:45

I'm still loving it - I'm like the kids used to be, jumping up in the morning to open my Advent Calendar!

Many of the items I am trying, but those that I think DD would prefer, I am keeping to one side for when she comes home for Christmas. She will love today's blusher brush, as she does keep one in her handbag.

Atalune · 19/12/2018 09:27

Well the brush is a bit small for me, but I might use it for contouring. Don’t love it, but it’s funeral.

However the balance me eye cream....used it today and it made my eyes go all weird and wrinkly!! Odd. Happy to do a swap???

Overall I have been really really happy with the advent calendar though and it’s made me feel very Christmassy Xmas Grin

Atalune · 19/12/2018 09:27

*funeral?!

Fine

SlowNorris · 19/12/2018 10:02

Another dull one. Unless tomorrow we get a blusher, then I’ll accept it Xmas Grin

ButteryParsnips · 19/12/2018 10:11

Still enjoying having something to open each day, and that is indeed what it's really all about. That said Grin I don't use blusher so I'm happy to swap the brush, and any accompanying blusher we get tomorrow!

Penguins1 · 19/12/2018 11:32

A blushed brush! Ah not bad. Travel size and handy I guess. Have a bad cold so not really investigated it properly yet!

diamondsandrose · 19/12/2018 12:38

Blusher brush nice and soft, fine for in your makeup bag if you don't want your real hair ones bashed about

Still loving that gloss/balm happy to swap if anyone wants rid of theirs

Atalune · 19/12/2018 12:40

diamond my lip gloss is unused. What you gonna swap for it? Grin

diamondsandrose · 19/12/2018 12:41

I'm looking on everything at the £1.40 a try lucky dip so not often disappointed

Agree doublers ie 2 eye creams could have been better thought out

Overall a super way to try things you would never have otherwise considered

As an ex makeup artist for a few high end brands I think the quality is super for the price ( I don't count my £35 spend..it's not like many of us bought something we then threw out?!!) I really needed that leopard print cardigan Grin

diamondsandrose · 19/12/2018 12:41

Ooh what you want? Shower gel, balance me eye cream, blusher brush...?

Atalune · 19/12/2018 14:07

The shower gel would be good but is that too heavy?
