Continued Xmas Grin

OP posts:

I'm very pleased to read such love for the night cream. I was a tad disappointed to get that and another eye cream. But they will all be used, as I love having a proper skin care routine.

And my skin is looking amazing at the moment! I actually went downstairs and made my DH look and comment on my skin this morning!! He was impressed and said I looked about 20 (sweetheart! I'm 37). It feels soft and dewy if that makes sense.

The eye pencil pulls too much for top lid - I like an ink. But will be good for a gentle line underneath the lower lashes.

I got a good 48 hours from my nail polish (and a further 48 with chips!)

Janecon · 18/12/2018 09:45

I put the nail polish on last night for a night out and it's lovely, although one nail has already chipped. I'm really pleased with the calendar so far. Unlike many others the one thing I'll be happy not to get is hand cream - I'm in my 50s and have loads of it. It's an easy gift I think for older women!

Skinfulnappies46 · 18/12/2018 10:25

Love today’s cream. Definitely a few repurchases for me when we get the discount later x

SomethingAboutNothing · 18/12/2018 10:28

Really happy with the night cream - I loved it last year. Might have to treat myself to a full size one if I like it as much this year.

The nail varnish chipped for me when I did two coats, this time I only did one coat and it seems to be lasting longer. Love the colour of it though, very festive!

Did anyone else find the latest eye cream quite greasy once applied? It seemed to take ages to sink in so I might save it for night time only.

SlowNorris · 18/12/2018 10:49

This is getting repetitive, it feels like a sample box instead of a gift box.

I’d really like a face mask and some bath oils Xmas Smile

MinorProphet · 18/12/2018 10:59

Skinful discount?

MinorProphet · 18/12/2018 11:00

Also, year-round advent calendars should totally be a thing.

Shitonthebloodything · 18/12/2018 11:58

Have to say I'm a bit disappointed this year. I would have loved a day cream, a mask, some facial treatments, some rodial, bubble bath, hand cream and no doubles. I don't need 2 night creams, 2 eye creams, and another double I won't ruin. Such a shane as I'm usually the biggest fan of these calendars.

MeetOnTheSIedge · 18/12/2018 12:08

I wouldn't want bath stuff as I only shower, or handcream as I've got about 15 tubes scattered around at home and work but a day cream would be nice.

Penguins1 · 18/12/2018 12:18

Ahh, a little disappointed as feels like repeated type of product here too. But the upside is that so many ladies are saying this night cream is really good, so I am at least pleased it's a quality product!

Skinfulnappies46 · 18/12/2018 12:35

Yes I think they offer around 20% discount on full sized purchases of products in the advent calendar in January.

NewDayBlankPage · 18/12/2018 14:54

Checking in. Thanks Millie. I love eye cream so happy with this. For those of you who don’t use/like eye cream, what about using it on your hands or somewhere like elbows or knees that can get dry, that’s what I do with face products I’m not sure of.

Penguins1 · 18/12/2018 16:01

Checking in after I washed my hair yesterday following leaving the Percy and Reed in my hair overnight. It felt good after I had washed and dried my hair! I'm happy with the product, my hair felt softer and moisturised, more than with a normal conditioner or just shampoo. Quite impressed after the first application so will try again sometime! 😀

cuppycakey · 18/12/2018 16:12

I am very happy with the sleep mask/cream as have used it before.

I left the elasticiser on my hair for 14 hours on Sunday and I would say it's in poorer condition than usual. Very bushy. Xmas Grin

Richlyfruited · 18/12/2018 16:14

Sad just opened today's and I really didn't get on with the sleep cream after I tried it out of the beauty box. Not good for my sensitive, oily skin at all.

Another one to hand on to my mum - she's just got my Pixie toner which my skin hated too Smile

SomethingAboutNothing · 18/12/2018 16:47

I think I have silicon build-up in my hair from the 2 hair products, it isn't greasy but feels like there is a lot of residue in the roots.

LostInShoebiz · 18/12/2018 17:35

Remember you can oversaturate your hair. If it says 20mins to overnight on the instructions you may well be one of the people for whom 20 minutes is plenty.

DragonNoodleCake · 18/12/2018 17:58

@Richlyfruited I like the balm too.

I'm slightly disappointed in the number of 'creams'

Fatasfook · 18/12/2018 18:15

I got an eyeliner yesterday, not eye cream! Maybe I have muddled my days

BatPie · 18/12/2018 18:19

I always read through these threads purely to see how much moaning there is about something that cost 35 quid

You're not as bad as last year but not far off Grin

Haworthia · 18/12/2018 18:20

BatPie Grin

Honestly, some people expect the moon on a stick.

BatPie · 18/12/2018 18:24

Oh I know... the entire point is a surprise, just a mini 'something.'

It cost 35 quid. You aren't going to get Liberty or Harrods contents although I saw a thread about that one last year and the moaning was horrific

I get them all due to my line of work. Well, not all! A dozen or so. For the money, the M & S is decent and it's really accessible to everyone as it's nice and cheap

Richlyfruited · 18/12/2018 18:40

I agree the calendar has been great for the money and nice to pass on any unwanted bits to friends and family.

I've also been buying up Ebayed items of my favourite products out of the calendar that people don't want. Got another mascara and the Hyasoft gel which I wasn't sure about at the time but is lovely!

Polpette · 18/12/2018 19:11

I feel that's a little unfair, £35 is a lot for some people (plus the extra spend to get the offer).

The whole point of an advent calendar is to build expectation and with that inevitably sometimes comes the odd disappointment.

The tone of this thread has been very balanced and a lot of fun, people shouldn't feel pressured to be relentlessly positive - we're just trying new products and seeing what does and doesn't work for us.

BatPie · 18/12/2018 19:16

£35 isn't a lot for a relatively premium calendar. I'm always amazed at the sighs of disappointment. ' oh I'm so upset it's ANOTHER eye cream when I really wanted a face cream etc'

However I do agree there's been a lot less whinging this year
