Made sure my autocorrect didn't spoil that title...

As always, let's keep it light and avoid any spite!

I was also wondering that. Like, we don’t need you lot!!

WipsGlitter · 14/12/2018 15:57

I wonder if Meghan thought the role might be but more like Michelle Obama - she blew away the cobwebs on the role of First Lady. Meghan was maybe picturing the same role for herself but the strict protocol ended that.

Moononthehill28 · 14/12/2018 16:03

Yes, that’s what I think. I really don’t believe she had a clue what she was taking on. Blown away with heady romance and the thought of being a Duchess. The reality is probably a big shock. She shows in so many ways that she doesn’t understand the situation she’s in. How did she imagine those photos in the booth with her clutching her bump were going to look? Completely inappropriate.

queenofarles · 14/12/2018 16:04

How cute is Louis! lovely christmas card.

Now about me, Im mid 30s, french, married with 3 dcs ,and live in London, Im very interested in the history of the British royal family, specially the older genaration. European Rfs don't interest me that much nothing to gossip about Wink.
I remember Princess Di and all her beautiful gowns, i still remember they day she died and felt so sad for the boys.

I just love this threads,i know that sometimes PP get upset when we start talking about other issues that are not relating to fashion, but i think its what makes these threads so interesting.

SenecaFalls · 14/12/2018 16:38

In fairness, many had already been blown away by Hilary Clinton.

Housewife2010 · 14/12/2018 16:44

Are boy's tights a thing now? My son is 9 and Louis's are the first time I've seen them.

WipsGlitter · 14/12/2018 16:45

Mmmm I don't know that Hilary really connected with people in the same way. She was a frustrated politician so saw the role through that optic as opposed to "what else can I do with this role".

I'm nearly 59, I'm a dentist and live in Yorkshire. I remember getting the day off for Princess Anne's wedding. It was November, there were strikes and power cuts and we had a fairly miserable time, so it lit up the gloom. That's what made me interested. Their privilege and attitude annoys me, but I love the colour, pageantry and jewels!! I've never met a royal and have no contacts. However, one of my patients is a jeweller who has done work for the Royals and shares some interesting details!!

Cornwall73 · 14/12/2018 16:48

I’m mid 40s, have dt and a DH. Lived in the U.K. for 26 years but grew up abroad.

Remember Diana’s wedding vividly on tv and also saw Charles and Di be driven through Gibraltar on an open top car to the Royal Yaght Britannia. My grans flat was on the procession route so got a good first floor view. Everyone was wearing red white and blue and my mum made me a head band of coloured ribbon to wear. Back in my village we had a street party on the beach that evening and we waved off Britannia as it left Gib. Thinking back on it, it was pretty special!

I remember the funeral really well too. It was a pretty bad year for my family in terms of loss too so I really felt it.

My guilty pleasure has always been to read Hello mag online in English and Spanish so very familiar with the Euro royals. I love these threads and the talk about dresses and tiaras. Thank you for starting it Smile

Clionba · 14/12/2018 16:50

I like the Cambridges Christmas card, it's quite charming. The Sussex one is just pretentious, and in all honesty that could be any bloke from the back.
Meghan could not possibly know what she was getting into, which was probably William's concern. Kate had a long apprenticeship.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 14/12/2018 16:51

gowns and crowns

You've got your next thread title right there Queen Xmas Smile

Cornwall73 · 14/12/2018 16:51

... and can I just say that love prince Louis, he is positively edible!!!! Great Christmas card

WipsGlitter · 14/12/2018 16:52

@Housewife2010 my son refused to wear sock - constantly pulled them off so he wore tights!

I love H&Ms photo. End of a long day, standing together watching fireworks and loving life.

Tbf, in the last 20 years who hasn’t got almost exactly the same style shot and n their wedding album. It’s practically wedding law. Change the backdrop but the composition would be practically the same.

Baby Louis is a total dote. Charlotte’s mouth though and downward face tilt are 100% HM the Q.

Bloominglovely · 14/12/2018 16:55

I am so tired of people being so critical of Meghan. I read some comments on the Daily Fail and honestly was disgusted and shocked st the venom people wrote and those who weren’t openly vile were still saying awful things about someone they dont know. Now it has spilled onto this thread. She is too American, too Hollywood, too wannabe Hollywood, too rich, not as rich as she thinks, too fashionable, too glamorous, too heavily pregnant, too full of herself, too inappropriate, too ignorant of English traditions, too lazy to wear a hat, too silly to notice her tights are not the same colour as her skin, too fake, she trapped Harry into a fast marriage, she pretends to be interested is hus charities, she had a nose job, it is literally endless.

Nobody here knows firsthand what she is like. She has an atrocious family, she married into another attrocious family. Give the woman a break!!!

SenecaFalls · 14/12/2018 17:01

I'm a huge fan of Michelle Obama but she did her job as First Lady pretty much within the traditional parameters of the role.

TheDistantSky · 14/12/2018 17:03

Hear Hear @Bloominglovely

AdaColeman · 14/12/2018 17:05

I like Kate & Will's card, it's nice to see George looking more normal rather than looking like a relic from 1948.
For Charles & Camilla's card I would have had Camilla touching his arm or hand, contact is always good in group/couple photographs. Camilla, as always, looks lovely.
I'm not keen on Harry & Meg's card, it could be anybody.

Becles · 14/12/2018 17:07

@Bloominglovely hush We don't admit it's anything like that. It's all about Meghan not understanding the world of U and non U.Xmas Grin

megletthesecond · 14/12/2018 17:12

I love George's one leg balancing on that tree in potentially slippy wellies 🙈. Typical 5 year old. Lovely picture of all five of them.

Harry and Megan's is sweet too.

SenecaFalls · 14/12/2018 17:15

I do like Kate and William's card, but I have to say that to my American sensibility, the shorts and tights on baby Louis do seem, how do I put it, a bit unusual.

SenecaFalls · 14/12/2018 17:16

Give the woman a break!!!

I would like to associate myself with this sentiment.

Likewise. I’m loving all the comments about M not understanding protocol. Like any of us would do any better ffs.
